UFC 130 is set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 28.

The main event on the card will see former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson face off against Matt “The Hammer” Hamill.

The card was originally scheduled to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard. Training camp injuries to both fighters forced the cancellation of their bout.

Jackson was originally scheduled to face Thiago Silva on this fight card, but when questions emerged in regard to Silva’s UFC 125 drug test Hamill was moved into Silva’s spot.

The idea of facing Hamill did not sit well with Jackson who tweeted, “I’m not interested in Fighting Matt,I rather fight Rashad,I have un finished business with him.”

Jackson later changed his mind when he found out that Hamill and his camp had specifically asked for the fight with Jackson, “He wants me? Well, he can have me,” Jackson told Yahoo! Sports. “I’m gonna knock him into tomorrow.”

Four other fights make up the main card:

Frank Mir versus Roy Nelson

Stefan Struve versus Travis Brown

Brian Stann versus Jorge Santiago

Thiago Alves versus Rick Story

Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione’s Fight Broken Up By George Sotiropoulos (VIDEO)

Roy Nelson took it to heart when Zuffa suggested the fighters become more involved in social media, so he used his phone to film a minute of words exchanged between Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione at The Fight Summit. We’re not sure if a physical fight would have broken out but Mitrione does get close enough to Ortiz to excite some kind of violence. At that point, good guy George Sotiropoulos stepped in to help a Zuffa rep break things up. Man, how cool is this? It’s a fight between 2 fighters filmed by a fighter and broken up by a fighter. And it’s all far more entertaining than last night’s TUF episode. Watch out media and production crews, these guys are gunning for our jobs.

The fight stemmed from an interview Mitrione gave to Ariel Helwani during The MMA Hour, saying Ortiz will likely pull out of his fight with Ryan Bader and his wife Jenna Jameson will step in:

“I think it’s awesome… awesome that the UFC is finally doing this. I think that it’s a great promotion that they’re finally letting women fight for their man’s honor. I think that’s a great thing. We all know that Tito’s gonna give some type of excuse and back out, so Jenna’s gonna have to step in and fight [Ryan] Bader for Tito’s honor. Bader, be really careful because it’s a trap fight. We all know that she’s awesome off her back and she’s got phenomenal top control, but remember that she doesn’t choke easily.”

Bleacher Report’s John Heinis:

That headline is not a typo: ESPN.com’s MMA page is reporting that UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen is suspended from fighting in not one, but two states.

Sonnen has had an ongoing issue with the Nevada State Athletic Commission ever since having his fighter’s license suspended for failing a drug test back in September of 2010.

That suspension, reduced from one year to six months, was over in March, but Sonnen has yet to receive a new license in Nevada.

CSAC executive officer George Dodd said the suspension was issued after their legal panel felt that Sonnen may “have perjured himself during a testimony at an appeal hearing in December related to his ban for elevated levels of testosterone.”

This seriously affects Sonnen’s ability to get back in the Octagon, since this suspension “asks North American regulatory bodies to contact California before issuing the UFC middleweight contender a license to compete, corner, promote or act as a manager.”

Sonnen and his lawyers asked for a CSAC special hearing on May 18 in Los Angeles to have the suspension revoked, and the CSAC obliged.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Hodges:

The recovery process for any athlete can be grueling and hard to swallow, for the most part.

Since January, UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez has been nursing a shoulder injury he suffered during his title bout against Brock Lesnar at UFC 122, ultimately forcing him out of action.

Velasquez, who participated in the “Super 7” presentation last week, spoke about the condition of his injury.

“I had a torn labrum and they had to reattach it,” Velasquez told UFC commentator, Joe Rogan.

“It takes so long because of the shoulder, they said not a lot of blood gets to the shoulder, so it takes a while for it to heal.”

Velasquez, who carries an undefeated record of 9-0-0, commented on his rehabilitation and said his main intention is to regain the strength and motion in his shoulder. Velasquez added that doctors have acknowledged his impressive recovery thus far and he expects to resume training under his doctors’ orders.

UFC 130 Main Card: Roy Nelson Expects a Title Shot After UFC 130

Roy Nelson always strives to stay relevant and compete against some of the top fighters.

It just so happens, he’ll face off against Frank Mir at UFC 130. Mir is considered by many to be one the best heavyweights in mixed martial arts, holding victories over former champions Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Brock Lesnar

Nelson told MMAJunkie.com he is content to square off against Mir, but he expects a title shot in return.

“I’ll fight anybody, and I want to fight everybody, but whatever is going to get me to the top fastest,” Nelson said.

Nelson has made an impact since arriving in the UFC three years ago, completing a sweep of The Ultimate Fighter en route to eventually winning a UFC contract. He has picked up victories over heavyweight prospects Brendan Schaub and Stefan Struve.

Nelson also shares some history with the former UFC heavyweight champion, as both competitors competed in a grappling match that saw Nelson earn the victory in 2003.

Both men have become completely different fighters since then, and according to Nelson, beating Mir shouldn’t be much different this time around.

“You’re a little bit older and wiser,” he said. “In my case, I’d be a bit stronger, bigger and faster.”

Since his loss to Nelson, Mir has gone through some ups and downs throughout his career. He was on the receiving end of a knockout loss from Shane Carwin at UFC 111, then he recently rebounded with a win over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 119.

Despite the recent setbacks, Nelson said he respects Mir and considers him to be one fight away from a title shot. And given his own track record, Nelson doesn’t see himself too far out of reach either.

“I’m fighting a two-time champion, the longest reigning heavyweight employed by current Zuffa,” Nelson said.

“He’s basically a legend of the heavyweight division. I think whoever wins this fight is going to get the next title shot.”

And while being nothing short of confident, Nelson said he believes he is a contender.

“I became a champion in other organizations. Now, I just want to make a run at this. Pretty much any organization I get into I become champion. So this is my run in the UFC,” he said.
