Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, made a blockbuster announcement on Monday, revealing that a mega-sized boxing event featuring the returns of Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney will go down in May 2025.
Unfortunately, Garcia and Haney won’t be fighting each other, but Alalshikh confirmed three massive matchups for the event, the first being a bout between ‘King Ryan’ and former WBA super lightweight titleholder Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.
Meanwhile, Haney is set to square off with former unified light welterweight world champion Jose Ramirez.
Also featuring on the card will be an IBF heavyweight title eliminator between Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba.
“The Ring Magazine is excited to announce its first boxing card in USA this May 2025 in collaboration with the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (which the card will be named after) and SNK Games,” Alalshikh wrote on X.
No exact date or location for the event has been announced, but it will be Ring Magazine’s first U.S. show since Alalshikh purchased the publication in November.
Is Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney 2 in the works for 2025?
Garcia has not competed since scoring a stunning upset against Devin Haney in April. Unfortunately for Garcia, the result was later overturned after ‘Flash’ failed both his pre-fight and post-fight drug tests for the banned substance Ostarine.
Garcia was slapped with a hefty fine and suspended for one year. Garcia was also expelled by the World Boxing Council. Haney attempted to sue ‘King’ for alleged battery and fraud after the test results became public, but he ultimately dropped the lawsuit four months later.
Haney, like Garcia, has not fought since their epic encounter last year, but it looks like Alalshik is setting the stage for a rematch between the two later this year, assuming they both come out on top in their respective bouts in May.
While he didn’t compete on the massive 18-fight card, Garcia had the opportunity to address the live crowd.
“I’m coming on here to say I’m sorry, sorry that I had to postpone this fight,” Garcia said. “I suffered a hand injury in training camp to my right wrist right here, where after talking to doctors, I’m going to need surgery. And I had to take some time off the heal. I wanna thank Fanmio and Rizin for the opportunity.
“I’m still excited to fight in Japan soon. And this will all resume right after I heal up in 2025. So make no mistake, I am coming back to finish what we started with Anpo and he will eat his words, I guarantee it. Just need to take some time off but when I come back there will be a bang in Japan.”
It’s been a rough 2024 for Ryan garcia
The last time Garcia graced the squared circle, he put on the best performance of his career against Devin Haney.
Unfortunately, the majority decision in favor of Garcia was later overturned to a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug Ostarine. ‘Flash’ was fined $1.1 million and slapped with a one-year suspension

The exhibition boxing match between Ryan Garcia and Rukiya Anpo is turning into a bad-blood showdown. Each athlete enters the match with some anger in their motivation for the Rizin New Year’s Eve event.
Rukiya Anpo vs. Ryan Garcia
Over the past several years, Ryan Garcia went from a promising young talent with knockout power in his hands to a suspended athlete with questionable life choices. Currently, he is suspended for PED usage and expelled for using racist and homophobic slurs. Additionally, he is not popular among sports fans due to missing weight and abusing drugs and alcohol. In a press conference, Japan’s Rukiya Anpo used this as motivation, he said:
“Ryan Garcia must mean ‘Fake idiot’ in Japanese … We all know Ryan Garcia’s issues. Missing weight, alcohol … I’ll show him exactly where he belongs. F*** you.”
Garcia believes he is fighting to redeem boxing legend Manny Pacquiao who Anpo faced in an exhibition match last year. Garcia said:
“Manny is past his prime, and for him to try to knock him out rubbed me the wrong way. I will knock him out and teach [Anpo] a lesson of respect.”
Rukiya Anpo is a former kickboxing world champion who held titles in K-1, he was well known for his high kick attacks and has spent a lifetime training in karate. Anpo and Garcia will have an exhibition boxing match with Rizin in Tokyo, Japan, on December 30.
