According to reports tonight, former WBC interim lightweight champion, Ryan Garcia has received a one-year suspension after reacting a settlement with the New York State Athletic Commission, after failing a drug-test in relation to his now-official ‘No Contest’ bout with Devin Haney earlier this year at the Barclays Center.

Reacting to the news of his suspension and the ruling of his victory over Haney to a now-official ‘No Contest’, the hugely outspoken Garcia claimed he would pursue a change change to mixed martial arts and compete in the UFC.

“I’m headed to the UFC,” Ryan Garcia posted on his official X account.

Protesting his innocence despite reports revealing he and his legal team had struck a settlement with the state athletic commission, Garcia claimed the sport of boxing had turned it’s back on him.

“I really hope boxing good without me,” Ryan Garcia posted.”I fought everyone and was willing to. They have turned there back on me. I’m innocent. I stand by that I don’t care what everyone says. Gun yo (sic) my head I say I didn’t take PEDs.”

Boxing star Ryan Garcia has been arrested for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills.

TMZ obtained a video clip of Garcia being escorted out of the hotel by police officers. Though you can’t see the fighter’s face because he is wearing a helmet, Garcia’s tattoos are visible and very recognizable.

Eyewitnesses claim to have seen nearly a dozen police vehicles outside the hotel, presumably responding to the incident. The report also states that Garcia appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, but complied with authorities without issue.

Garcia’s attorney, Darin Chavez, told TMZ that “[Ryan] was taken by the BHPD to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and to our knowledge, may be charged with public intoxication.”

Police Officers Responded to a Wellness Check on Ryan Garcia Earlier in the week

Apparently, this is not the first time officers have been dispatched to the Waldorf because of an issue related to Ryan. On Wednesday, local police responded to the hotel for a welfare check after one of Ryan’s family members feared he might need assistance. Garcia reportedly appeared to be okay, prompting officers to leave.

Later that evening, Garcia is said to have acted out, prompting the Waldorf to cut him off from alcohol.

As of this writing, Garcia is still in custody.

Boxing star Ryan Garcia's B sample comes back positive for the banned substance Ostarine

Ryan Garcia’s B sample matches his A sample.

Not long after ‘King Ryan’ scored a stunning split decision victory over Devin Haney in April, the boxing star found himself under fire after it was revealed that his A sample from a VADA drug screen contained Ostarine, a selective androgen receptor modulator banned in every major sports league and the NCAA. Garcia immediately disputed the finding and requested that his B sample be tested.

As it turns out, the results are one and the same. According to a report from boxing journalist Dan Rafael on social media, he obtained a copy of the lab reports and confirmed that both the A and B samples provided a positive test for Ostarine.

Ryan Garcia

“Ryan Garcia’s B sample results were returned Thursday a.m., 1 day after being opened,” Rafael wrote on X. “I have the lab reports & the B samples, as expected, matched A samples — both are positive for the banned PED Ostarine related to VADA tests the day before & after Haney fight.”

As for what comes next, Rafael added in a follow-up post that the New York State Athletic Commission has been made aware of the finding and it is now on them to schedule a hearing to address the situation, including any potential fines or suspensions Garcia will be hit with.

Ryan Garcia

“New York commission received the B sample testing report (and already had the A report) and now it’s on the commission to schedule a hearing for Garcia, which figures to happen at some point this summer,” Rafael added.

Ryan Garcia reacts to the news of his b Sample in an unsurprising fashion

As the news started making the rounds on social media, Ryan Garcia lit up X with a slew of on-brand comments that went from having “positive vibes” to “I F*CKING LOVE STEROIDS” in the blink of an eye.

Though it’ll be a while before we know the fate of Garcia’s boxing career following his latest fumble, the Victorville, California native could find himself shelved for years, if not longer, as a result. In 2019, UFC standout Amanda Ribas was slapped with a two-year suspension by USADA after testing positive for Ostarine in an out-of-competition urine test.

However, Ribas’ suspension was later reduced to time served after it was determined that the substance got into her system via a tainted supplement. If Garcia can prove that he did not intentionally take Ostarine for his fight with Devin Haney, it could not only save him a massive fine, but it could save him years of his career.

Ryan Garcia is holding firm to the pretense that he did not knowingly cheat ahead of his fight with Devin Haney in April, despite what a failed drug test might insinuate.

The circumstances surrounding the fight were already controversial due to Garcia missing weight ahead of the event, but they turned rather spectacular as Garcia went on to deliver a brutal beatdown of Haney on his way to a decision victory.

Less than a month after the fight, it was reported that Garcia had failed not one but two drug tests for a banned performance-enhancing substance called Ostarine. According to Ryan Garcia, though, he never took steroids and has passionately denied the allegations.

Speaking to fellow boxer and social media celebrity Jake Paul on Instagram Live, Garcia spoke about these allegations and kept claiming that he was innocent.

“Ryan, if you did do it, then that’s really f*cked up,” Paul said (H/T MMA Fighting). “I’m going to be pissed off at you as a friend, that’s f*cked up.”

“If I did it, which I know damn well I didn’t, I would quit boxing,” Garcia replied. “I didn’t do it. That’s crazy… God is watching me at all times. I’m not going to do something to cheat people. I could have hurt him. I could have killed him. Why the f*ck would I do that? It’s so stupid, I’m not going to do it. Deadass, I would never cheat.”

The fight was of epic magnitude for Ryan Garcia, who had the chance to capture his first-ever world title against Haney. However, this opportunity would be denied due to his weight miss on the scales. Now, even the win itself is of question, as obviously, the usage of PEDs would invalidate this impressive victory.
