Ex-Navy SEAL David Goggins escalates feud with Sean Strickland, reveals DMs sent to former UFC champ

David Goggins is done with all the trash-talking and video messages.

Earlier this week, the former U.S. Navy SEAL and ultramarathon runner found himself in a fiery feud with former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. It all seemingly started with ‘Tarzan’ shared a video of him pummeling a Navy SEAL during a five-round sparring session.

Strickland has also made some disparaging remarks regarding the SEALs in the past, suggesting that not a single member of the elite military unit could hang with him in the gym for a single day.

That prompted Goggins to issue a challenge to the outspoken superstar, inviting Strickland to train with him for one of his infamous ‘Hell Week‘ camps.

Since then, the two have gone back and forth on social media, but little action beyond that has been taken. Reaching out one more time, Goggins agreed to step inside the cage with Strickland if ‘Tarzan’ could make it through three days of his brutal training regimen that pushed Tony Ferguson to the limit.

“This is my last video about this. Sean Strickland, I know you’re doing all this for clickbait,” Goggins said in a video posted on Instagram. “We had a DM the other day, me and you back and forth. I was pretty much DM’ing you because you called me a bitch, talking about my military career, and going out here like you said in your DM and trying to be a clown. You’re an MMA fighter and also you’re a comedian.

“I’m not much of a comedian at all. I’m an old-school man, bro. So you go out there calling people a b*tch and sh*t like that, saying no Navy SEAL can hang with your training. You were born in 1991 I believe. I was born in 1975. Talk about me being old, me being beat up. Once again, I know you’re trying to clickbait all this stuff, but I’m an old-fashioned man.”

From there, Goggins revealed a DM that he sent to Strickland which ‘Tarzan’ has not yet responded to.

David Goggins

“You have yet to respond to his, so at any time you want to train with me, I am ready to train with you,” Goggins added. “I am done with the videos. Ya’ll can keep on tagging me on TikTok and all this other sh*t… Sean, it’s in your court.”

Sean Strickland responds to David Goggins’ final challenge

It didn’t take long for Strickland to issue a response on social media, letting Goggins know that if he’s lookin’ to go, he’s not hard to find.

Sean Strickland

“Cracks me up to hear David Garggle Goggins rant… “I’m old school” as he’s on tiktok “let’s handle this like men” Ok sure,” Strickland wrote on X. “I’m in Vegas, you’re in Vegas….. I train at the same gym everyday.. IM EASY TO FIND! You on the other hand…. you just live on tiktok….location?”

Fans Give Confused Reaction To Sean O’Malley Winning ‘Best UFC Fighter’ At The ESPYs

ESPN’s annual awards, The ESPYs, took place last night where Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley was named the best UFC fighter.

He came out on top in a category that featured three other world champions in Alex Pereira, Islam Makhachev and Weili Zhang.

The instant reaction from fans online was to question how “Suga” could have possibly won the category, considering what “Poatan” has done in recent times.

Whilst some fans questioned whether the period of time that is judged meant that the award was voted this way, many were simply baffled at the idea of Pereira not winning this award regardless of which time frame you want to look at.

“Bro sean has fought 3 ( 4 if you county the Pedro fight) times since 2022. Alex has fought 8 smh they did bad on this”

“Alright the UFC pushing Sean as the next superstar allegations are undeniable now”

“what exactly is the criteria lmao”

David Goggins Challenges Sean Strickland To Three Days Of Training For Three Rounds Of Boxing

David Goggins vs. Sean Strickland has turned into a surprising social media beef as of late, with both men speaking about one another in videos.

Following the former UFC middleweight champion’s comments about Navy SEALs and Goggins’ military career, the athlete and public speaker issued a challenge to him to test what Strickland is truly made of.

“Sean Strickland, I know you’re doing all this for clickbait. We had a DM the other day, me and you, back and forth. I was pretty much DMing you because you called me a b**** and talked about my military career and going out here once again and trying to, like you said in your DM, trying to be a clown. You’re an MMA fighter and you’re also a comedian so, you know, I’m not much of a comedian at all.”

As seen below, Goggins recently shared a look at the message that he sent to Strickland which has not received a reply as of yet, calling to train and spar with him.

He continued to say that he is done with exchanging videos and that this is his final offer- and whether the former champion takes it or not is up to him.

“You say you can f*** me up in training, I responded to that video to you and this is what I said. You have yet to respond to this and so anytime you want to train with me, I am ready to train with you. I am done with the videos.”

Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov 2 Reportedly Set For UFC 308 In Abu Dhabi

The UFC is heading back to Abu Dhabi in October for UFC 308, as has become a tradition for the MMA leader’s calendar.

A first match-up has been reported for this card with Ag. Fight claiming that former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane will be facing Alexander Volkov in a rematch on October 26.

Many were expecting to see Gane return on the Paris card in September, after he reportedly turned down the option to fight Tom Aspinall at UFC 304 later this month.

Volkov will be looking to avenge his loss to “Bon Gamin” in 2021 off the back of a big victory over Sergei Pavlovich in Saudi Arabia last month.

After losing the UFC middleweight title to Dricus Du Plessis, Sean Strickland bounced back by defeating Paulo Costa at UFC 302 this past June. Since then, he’s been adamant about sitting out and fighting the winner of Du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya at UFC 305, Perth.

However, Costa fought Strickland following a loss to Robert Whittaker. “The Reaper” has since beaten Khamzat Chimaev’s short-notice replacement Ikram Aliskerov easily to build his own case for another title shot.

Many believe that Strickland vs. Whittaker is the perfect title eliminator fight in the UFC middleweight division. Michael Bisping agrees and recently advised “Tarzan” to change his stance on turning down such a matchup…

Michael Bisping Reminds Sean Strickland About Downsides Of Waiting On The Sidelines

Bisping recently discussed Strickland’s latest motorcycle accident and next fight on his YouTube channel. He laid down situations in which waiting for a title shot instead of fighting Whittaker could affect the former champ’s ability to reclaim gold.

In the eyes of “The Count,” Strickland wouldn’t want a world where Du Plessis vs. Adesanya is razor close and results in a rematch. If, in the meantime, “The Reaper” racks up another dominant win, he’ll be more likely to get a title shot.

“You can’t sit around. You can’t feel so entitled. You have to go out there, stake your case, continue to apply your craft, get better with every single training camp. Make the statement that you are the uncrowned champion.”

Bisping looked at Whittaker’s impressive record as a middleweight, which contains three losses to only current or then-future champions. Because he walked out of the Aliskerov fight without damage, the Australian could feasibly return to the Octagon quickly and be the undisputed title challenger.

It is worth noting that the former British UFC middleweight champion isn’t critical of Strickland’s principles. After the razor-close decision loss to the current titleholder and a win since, he can rightly claim a second shot.

Nevertheless, Bisping maintained that it is still risky due to factors outside of his control.

“You do not want to wait on the sidelines. I mean, for example, let’s say Dricus beats Izzy. That’s a big if, but let’s just say he does. What if Dricus gets injured? What if that fight is so grueling, he tears a knee, he busts his eye up, he’s got a broken jaw. He’s coming back, but it’s going to be six to nine months. Is he still going to continue to wait on the sidelines?”

Overall, “The Count” only demands Strickland to not sit on the sidelines and do what he does best. Get inside the Octagon consistently, improve with every fight, and not let anyone else steal his claim at the title.

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland was in a minor motorcycle accident on Monday.

Strickland took to his Instagram stories to show off the motorcycle and his hands, as Strickland said he flipped his bike which caused him to scratch up his hands.

“Well you guys, I got a little overconfident,” Sean Strickland said in his Instagram stories on Monday (via GiveMeSport). “I was riding the Balance Point, I was doing it, I was keeping it up, kept doing it, then went a little too far back. Training today is gonna f*cking suck. But, I’m an idiot. I flipped my bike, gotta man up and train.”

Luckily the injuries weren’t severe, as Strickland said he was still going to train despite the cut on his hands.

This isn’t the first time Sean Strickland was involved in a motorcycle accident.

In December of 2018, Strickland was involved in a serious accident while training at Kings MMA in California. The crash was not his fault, but he went unconscious and did not wake up for hours.

“Oh shit, the entire time through recovery I thought my career was over. The majority of doctors I saw when it happened actually told me it’s probably unlikely I’ll be able to fight again and I shouldn’t fight again. My career was over for a bit, I guess until the recovery went well,” Strickland said. “In my life, I’ve only been two things and it is a f**k-up and an MMA fighter. For the most part, I wasn’t ready to start working at Walmart. I have been training my whole life and at 27, 28 being told you won’t be able to fight again, that was hard. But, here I am.”

After an intense rehab, Strickland was finally able to return in 2020 as he moved up to middleweight and beat Jack Marshman. Strickland then continued to be active and fight often and eventually won the middleweight title.

Strickland is 29-6 as a pro and is coming off a win over Paulo Costa after a controversial split decision loss to Du Plessis to lose his title.

Sean Strickland has accepted David Goggins‘ challenge.

The unexpected rivalry between Strickland and the former U.S. Navy SEAL has seemingly reached a boiling point. It all started when the ‘Tarzan’ issued a challenge to Goggings, inviting him to Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas for a 15-minute sparring session.

Sean Strickland

Goggins decided to one-up the ex-UFC champ, challenging Strickland to go through his infamous “Hell Week” training camp that had Tony Ferguson vomiting regularly.

“This is your opportunity to show that world that you can f*ck me up,” Goggins said in a video message.

“I will have camera crews out there. You make sure you bring your f*cking camera crew out there because you’re going to want to get this on camera. A 49-year-old broke down knee, f*cked up body guy is gonna put you through a camp that you think you can f*ck me up in. This is your opportunity, Strickland. I haven’t forgotten about your video. I hope to see you there also.”

It didn’t take long for Sean Strickland to snap back at Goggins, accepting the challenge and offering a word of warning.

“Goggins, I heard you want a piece,” Strickland said. “Challenge accepted. Just so you know man, the only thing you beat me at in life is f*cking running. But guess what, I don’t have to f*cking run. You run for me.”

Goggins’ challenge comes not long after Strickland released footage online of him pummeling a Navy SEAL during a five-round sparring session.

Before that, ‘Tarzan’ made some disparaging remarks about the Navy’s primary special operations force, suggesting that not a single member of the elite unit would be able to hang with him in the gym.

After spending 20 years of his life serving his country, Goggins is now best known for his accomplishments as an ultramarathon runner.

Sean Strickland refuses to fight Robert Whittaker until he wins UFC title again

Despite calls from fans and pundits alike for a middleweight title eliminator between former champions, Sean Strickland, and Robert Whittaker – the former has once more shut down the clash, until he wins the divisional crown first.

Strickland, who currently holds the number one rank in the official middleweight pile, managed to remain the divisional top spot holder at UFC 302 back in May, securing a split decision win over common-opponent, Paulo Costa.

As for fellow ex-champion, Whittaker, just last month at UFC Saudi Arabia, the fan-favorite striker turned in a short-notice win over Ikram Aliskerov, finishing the highly-touted Russian prospect with a stunning first round knockout win.

And weighing up potential fights with the likes of Strickland in a bid to earn another title fight rematch with either Dricus du Plessis or Israel Adesanya – who meet at UFC 305 next month, Whittaker confirmed plans to make an end-of-year return.

Sean Strickland again shuts down Robert Whittaker fight

However, one party certainly holding no interest in a fight with Whittaker is the previously noted, Strickland – who wants to fight for the undisputed championship first and foremost.

“The thought that Whittaker gets a title show before me is f*cking wild…” Sean Strickland posted on his official X account. “Bro you’re 0-3 – with a stoppage lol. I beat both those c*nts lol. Do rankings matter?! Do the right thing UFC.”

“He can get it after I win my belt back,” Sean Strickland wrote.

Earlier this month to boot, outspoken former champion, Strickland hit the headlines once more after he voiced his concern for the status of American fighters in the promotion, claiming they will soon be replaced by their Dagestani, Russian, and Brazilian counterparts.

“At one point, there’s gonna be no f*cking Americans left in the UFC,” Sean Strickland said. “We’re all gonna be watching Dagestanis, and Russians, Brazilians fighting. No one’s gonna give a f*ck. So, that’s what I think about that, you know. Let’s the make the UFC American again.
