Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley was a man of his word and to get a rematch with Jake Paul, the former UFC champion agreed to get an ‘I love Jake Paul’ tattoo after losing in their first matchup back in August.

However, as time has passed, the tattoo has slowly started to fade, and it seems Woodley expected this to be the case given where the tattoo itself was placed on him.

“I purposely did it to troll the troll,” Woodley told media at his open workout. “Anybody who has a tattoo on the inside of their hand, or a tattoo artist knows it fades. I got it on the finger that means the opposite of love, I put it on that finger, but I knew it was going to wear down.

“Taking showers, washing your hands, boxing, battle ropes, turf – I didn’t want to walk around with his name on me for the rest of my life. I agreed not to have it removed, I agreed to have it permanent, but I never felt I lost the fight anyway, so I wasn’t super psyched about getting it. It wasn’t something I mapped out and had all this work into it.” (Transcribed by Mirror Fighting)

Tyron Woodley hopes to cash in with KO Bonus

The former UFC champion will be looking to wright his previous wrong as he steps in on short notice to take on Jake Paul this Saturday, following their first bout many fans believed Woodley was reluctant to push forward after hurting Paul or he wouldn’t go after Jake Paul due to a ‘No Knockout Clause’.

Paul refuted these claims and has gone the step further to make sure the result cannot be questioned this time around.

Tyron Woodley has the chance to win an extra $500,000 if he is able to KO the ‘Problem Child’.

Both Paul and Woodley took part in an open workout session on Wednesday in Florida and will be faced-off against each other for the first time since their previous bout this Thursday at the pre-fight press conference.

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul’s previous matchup left many fans disappointed.

A lot of people expected Woodley to breeze through Paul ending the hype train there and then. However, Paul showed his boxing ability and beat Woodley via points. There was one moment during the fight however where Woodley knows he had Jake Paul in trouble.

In the fourth round, Woodley landed a left hand that sent Paul stumbling into the ropes and in quite some trouble, but Woodley wouldn’t push on at this moment to try and get his opponent out of there leaving many fans curious as to why.

Speaking on The MMA Hour Tyron Woodley revealed he had an injury that held him back during the pair’s first matchup.

“My shoulder was f*cking sore, Woodley said. “I ain’t gonna lie. I wanted to [knock him out] but my shoulder was swollen before and I was just kind of swinging on pure thug energy from MMA, not just giving a hell.”

“When you watch the punch, I punched him, he sprung off the ropes and he went back into my arm, so it kind of hype extended my elbow on my shoulder so at that point my money-maker was at jeopardy so I had to try and walk him down, make him punch so I could punch straight shots.”

“Straight shots off of his punches, very similar to what I had to do against Demian Maia when I tore my labrum in that fight.

“I couldn’t throw looping overhand rights because it made me feel like my shoulder was in jeopardy. So, my left arm and my right arm and my shoulder, they was just throbbing like a motherf*cker.”

Tyron Woodley Wants Redemption

Woodley vows to not make the same mistake twice and given the opportunity will look to get Jake Paul out of there as soon as he can. Although the former UFC Champion is still not happy with the judge’s decision from the first time around.

“I went back and looked at the fight — I won round four, he never won a round after that,” Woodley said. “So that’s four, five, six, seven, eight. That’s five [rounds]. How would he win the fight if it should have technically been a knockdown. He should have technically got the count, but he didn’t. How did he win the fight? I was just so confused.

Woodley would also go on to mention despite him only accepting the fight on short notice, he has been training for the match-up since September.

“I would say probably the middle to the end of September, I brought all my coaches into St. Louis, Mo. the top of October [to start getting ready],” Woodley revealed. “You can go back and look at Instagram.

“I brought them into St. Louis, Mo. cause this fight [with Tommy Fury] don’t make sense. It’s not supposed to happen.” (transcribed by mmafighting.com)

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul 2 is live on December 18 on Showtime pay-per-view.

Sean Strickland Tells Israel Adesanya To Cycle Off: ‘I Don’t Want To F*cking Bring You A Bra’

Sean Strickland and Adesanya

Sean Strickland has accused Israel Adesanya of steroid use during his time with the UFC.

This wouldn’t be the first time a claim like this has been made against Adesanya, after Paulo Costa expressed the same opinion when the champion was suffering from swelling on his right pectoral muscle prior to their matchup. Costa claimed this was because Adesanya was coming off a cycle of steroids however it would go no further then just an accusation that ‘Stylebender’ explained away.

Strickland has really started to make his way into the middleweight division, the American is currently riding on the back of a five-fight winning streak and will be looking to make it six when he faces of against Jack Hermanson early in 2022.

Sean Strickland Has High Hopes For The Year Ahead

If he can past this next test, Sean Strickland plans to work his way through the division before ultimately reaching the champion, Israel Adesanya.

“At least a title shot (by the end of the year),” Strickland told MMA Junkie.

“I’m one of the hardest training fighters in the UFC and I’ll do everything I can to get to a title shot, and if it happens, let’s f*cking go, Izzy. I’m f*cking ready. Make sure to cycle off, though. I don’t want to f*cking bring you a bra if you don’t hit the right cycle.”

“Izzy’s a great fighter – he comes from kickboxing – have you ever seen a fighter with gyno for any other reason than that?” Strickland said. “Besides him, have you ever seen a fighter in the UFC that smokes weed that gets gyno? Ever? You can’t because it doesn’t f*cking happen unless you cycle wrong. That’s a fact. We all know it. But regardless of the fact, Izzy’s a f*cking great fighter. We know that. That’s the fight I want.”

“Izzy, I’ll come over dude. We can f*cking watch anime and you can put some f*cking testosterone in my ass. I’ll do it with you. Let’s f*cking go. With a needle I think you guys do the stomach, right? Is that where you guys do, the stomach? You’re the expert on f*cking steroids. How’s it done?”

Given the pre-fight medicals and other testing fighters have to do, do you believe many fighters are still using steroids?

Darren Till

Darren Till believes Charles Oliveira is the best lightweight on the planet.

Till, in his early career, was touted as an up and coming prospect and at the start he was living up to that expectation. Wins over Stephen Thompson and Donald Cerrone would help boost Darren Till on his way to a title shot against Tyron Woodley.

‘The Gorilla’ would fall short against Woodley and following on from this bout Till would go on to lose three of his next four to Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker and most recently Derek Brunson. His only win in this period would be a split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum.

However, Till should not be discouraged, to look at what Charles Oliveira has done since he started in the UFC to where he is today no one could have expected and speaking in a recent interview on The MMA Hour Till highlighted the inspiration he takes from Oliveira’s story.

“It’s just a few little tweaks and a few little adjustments and I’m right back there, trust me I’ll be right back there, breaking records and beating all these bests, trust me on that mate i promise you. Take example by Charles Oliveira, he was the underdog on the fight, and you can ask anyone.

“I love Dustin Poirier, I’ve known the guy for years, he’s a great guy but anyone who asked me I would say “Oliveira’s gonna win the fight” I’ll tell you mate, he’s the best lightweight on the planet right now, including Khabib, he’s the best lightweight on the planet. Trust me.” (transcribed by sportskeeda.com)

What is next for Darren Till?

Till currently sits at a crossroads in his career with him still being only 28 he has plenty of time left within the sport, however, recent results show that he needs some change and to adjust in his game.

His next opportunity to show improvements could come against Number 9 ranked middleweight Urian Hall, as the two have been suggested to be the main event to headline a UFC London card scheduled for March 19th.

Stephen Thompson

Stephen Thompson has revealed that he and Tyron Woodley have been cast in future seasons of the show ‘Cobra Kai’.

The series follows on thirty years later from when characters Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence originally fought in a karate tournament in the hit movie Karate Kid.

Both men will be returning to fighting soon, with Tyron Woodley set to rematch Jake Paul on December 18 as ‘Wonderboy’ looks to take on Belal Muhammad in the UFC on the same date. Now it appears the former competitors who have shared the octagon twice together have put aside their differences for the show as Thompson spoke on the MMAHour on his thoughts regarding Paul vs Woodley 2, whether Woodley will win and the pairs newfound friendship.

“I think so, he’s got to (win). I think Tyron gets it,” Thompson said before letting slip that they are both to feature in Cobra Kai. “I chatted with him not too long doing some Cobra Kai stuff. I can’t really give too much away but we were there hanging out [on set], and yeah, the beef has been squashed. Since then, he’s awesome and fun to hang out with while we were there. I didn’t get to hang out with him a ton but while we were there on set.”

Thompson also revealed his delight at getting to be involved within the show given his Karate style inside the octagon but wouldn’t go on to say just how involved he and Woodley both are.

“I’m like known as the karate guy in MMA, so everybody’s been wondering like ‘hey man, when are you going to do the Cobra Kai thing?’ So yeah. “Not season 4. I can’t give too much away but be looking out.” (transcribed by middleeasy.com)

What’s next for Stephen Thompson?

Thompson seems to have things rolling outside of the UFC with his new role in Cobra Kai, and a win this weekend over Belal Muhammad would help ‘Wonderboy’ get things moving back inside the cage too. A disappointing loss to Gilbert Burns back at UFC 264 halted his two-fight win streak.  Thompson currently sits 5th in the welterweight rankings, with wins over fighters ranked 4th and 6th, One possibility we could see is Thompson and 3rd ranked Leon Edwards face off. Given Edwards wants to wait for a title shot it is unlikely we could see this but stylistically this would make for a fantastic matchup.

Another option could be Neil Magny, given the division’s activity over recent months many fighters will need time off to recover. Magny hasn’t fought in since Mat where he picked up a victory over Geoff Neal and has been trying to arrange a fight ever since. If Thompson could come through unscathed against Belal Muhammad and would like a quick turn-around, these two strikers would pair up brilliantly inside the octagon.

How do you think both Stephen Thompson and Tyron Woodley will do in their fights?

Amanda Nunes Rips ‘Delusional Clown’ Julianna Pena Ahead of UFC 269

Amanda Nunes & Julianna PenaAmanda Nunes isn’t typically one to exchange verbal back-and-forths with her opponent, she usually prefers to let her skills inside the octagon do the talking, and well, that makes sense when you have taken out the names Nunes has. Amanda Nunes & Julianna Pena

Amanda Nunes isn’t typically one to exchange verbal back-and-forths with her opponent, she usually prefers to let her skills inside the octagon do the talking, and well, that makes sense when you have taken out the names Nunes has.

However, it appears Julianna Pena’s comments have just started to chip away at the champion, who spoke about her opponent at the UFC 269 media day on Wednesday.

“She’s a clown, (She) wants attention. That’s it.”

Nunes also spoke on Pena’s grappling ability and was quick to highlight some flaws in what Pena considered to be her greatest asset heading into the fight.

“She’s delusional, What about her best friend Miesha Tate? What about Sara McMann? Sara McMann almost beat her. Sara McMann gave up in the fight. If she didn’t give up, she would have beat Julianna. But I beat Sara McMann years ago.”

“I feel like she can talk whatever she wants. I feel like she has to do that to be able to bring all the attention, but I’m going to tell her, she can have all the attention she wants. All of it. Because Saturday is my night, December is my month. Nobody’s going to take this belt from me.”

Pena was beaten on the ground in her matchups with Germaine de Randamie and Valentina Shevchenko, two fighters more typically known for their striking, and this has given the ‘Lioness’ even more confidence that she is going to be able to get the job done.

“Julianna has all the holes where I can finish her on the floor as well, Germaine (de Randamie) finished her. Germaine de Randamie is a striker and she finished Julianna Pena (on the ground). I feel like my game is way above all those girls she fought.

“We’re going to see what’s going to happen. I just need a mistake from her. In striking, in the floor, whatever she brings up, I’m going to have the answers and I’m going to finish the fight.”

Amanda Nunes is not looking past Juliana Pena

Given her reign at the top, it would become understandable if at some point Amanda Nunes started to take her eye of the ball, however, the double champion insists this isn’t the case, and although she knows Pena is trying to boost her own confidence Nunes is also aware of the danger she may bring.

“I think she’s trying to get that confidence,”

“Because she knows the truth. She says so many lies, things to try to make her believe in that. I’m telling her right now, that’s not going to happen.”

“When they lock that door in the cage, everybody becomes dangerous,”

“Especially for her, she has nothing to lose. I have to really be ready for everything she’s bringing up. She’s definitely dangerous.

“She’s definitely a very good fighter. I’ll be ready to go. She never fought a lioness before.” (Transcribed by mmafighting.com)
