Ryan Garcia tests positive for banned PED ostarine after stunning upset win over Devin Haney

Just weeks removed from his shocking upset win over former world champion, Devin Haney ni Las Vegas, polarizing boxing star, Ryan Garcia has hit the headlines once more – this time in relation to a massive drug testing scandal – providing a positive sample for the banned performance-enhancing drug, ostarine, according to reports.

As per a report tonight from boxing journalist, Dan Rafael, former interim WBC lightweight titleholder, Garcia has tested positive for the banned performance-enhancing drug, ostarine in a test sample provided to Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).

“BREAKING: Per multiple sources with knowledge of the results, Ryan Garcia tested positive for the banned PED ostarine in a VADA test related to the Haney fight,” Rafael posted on his official X account.

“Garcia positive tests per source with direct knowledge: Failed for ostarine in two urine tests on April 19 & post-fight April 20. April 19 sample also (from VADA letter) “screened positive but was not confirmed for 19-Norandrosterone pending IRMS analysis currently being run.”

Conor McGregor backs Ryan Garcia after win over Devin Haney drink responsibly every night

“Ryan Garcia has 10 days to ask for B sample to be tested at his own expense. So, not only blows weight by 3.2 pounds he also apparently was dirty for a PED and possible two.”

As mentioned by Rafael, Garcia, a native of Victorville, was the subject of much scrutiny ahead of his grudge bout with Haney last month, having missed weight by 3.2 pounds for their slated championship bout, leaving him ineligible to win spoils with a victory against Haney.

And with speculation mounting over the 25-year-old’s mental state and overall well-being heading into the bout, Garcia would turn in a one of the most impressive performances of his young career to date, dropping Haney on three separate occasions en route to a majority decision (114-110, 115-109, 112-112) win

In response to reports detailing his apparent failed drug test for the banned substance, ostarine – Garcia posted the following on his official X account.

Charles Oliveira eyes July return to the UFC I'm breathing I'm calm but I want to fight

Former undisputed lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira has revealed his coaches had to talk him away from a planned return as soon as International Fight Week at the end of June – forcing the Sao Paulo to postpone a comeback until the following month.

Oliveira, a former undisputed lightweight titleholder, and the current number two ranked division contender, featured on the main card of UFC 300 last month, suffering a contentious split decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan in the pair’s officially billed title eliminator.

And vowing to make a quickfire return as he weighed up fights with both former foes, Justin Gaethje, and Max Holloway, Oliveira argued his case that he actually should have got the nod from the seated judges against Tsarukyan, pointing to his numerous close submission attempts.

Searching a high-profile comeback, Oliveira sounded out a fight with former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor – as well as revealing he would most definitely entertain a move to the welterweight ranks

And talked down from a return at UFC 303 on the same card as the above-mentioned comeback of McGregor by his coaches, Oliveira insists he’s now itching for a fight in July or at the latest, August.

“I didn’t break a sweat [at UFC 300],” Charles Oliveira told AgFight during a recent interview. “So I just left wanting to fight and still continue with that mentality of fighting. I wanted to fight in International Fight Week, which is in June, and [Diego] Lima stopped me, said ‘Calm down, breathe’.”

“The team said to take a breath, so that’s what I’m doing,” Charles Oliveira explained. “I’m breathing, I’m calm, but I want to fight in July or August.”

The war of words between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway continues.

It’s been an interesting start to Topuria’s reign as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion. To celebrate his big second round knockout of Alexander Volkanovkski (watch highlights) at UFC 298 this past February 2024, Topuria toured Spain and made several appearances in other sporting atmospheres.

Since the celebrations died down, developments have continued to play out around “El Matador,” like Max Holloway’s coronation as the Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) champion at UFC 300 last month (April 13, 2024). The former Featherweight titleholder, Holloway, went up to Lightweight for his encounter with the perennial top contender, Justin Gaethje, and came out on top with an iconic fifth round knockout (watch highlights). Therefore, “Blessed” is set up nicely to challenge for his old title once more.

It was recently claimed by Joe Rogan when catching up with Holloway that Topuria turned down a rematch against Volkanovski for his first title defense. Catching wind of the comments, Topuria denied ever being offered the fight.

“I never turned down the rematch with Alex as the UFC has never offered me this fight,” Topuria tweeted. “As I’ve said many times before, I will be the first to knockout Holloway. Let’s keep this simple: Do you want to fight? If the answer is yes, there’s nothing more to discuss. Bring my belt and your pillow.”

Volkanovski has expressed frustrations with Topuria’s alleged fight denials since Rogan first mentioned the notion regarding their potential rematch. When it comes to the Holloway match up for Topuria, the champion has maintained his desire for the BMF crown to also be on the line. Otherwise, he’ll move on to Volkanovski or Brian Ortega.

The BMF champion isn’t having it, though, as he promised another belt for Topuria, after all.

“Bro you’re the one making this hard,” Holloway responded. “Ennnnooouuggghhhh already lol. I’ll ‘bring your belt’ The B—ching Mother F—ker [crying laughing emoji] All you are doing is putting words together now. You’re spiraling. [hang loose emoji]”

Ex-UFC fighter Drew McFedries facing felony charges after fracturing man's skull outside of a strip club

Drew McFedries, a former UFC fighter who trained under the promotion’s first-ever welterweight champion Pat Miletich, was arrested after causing serious injury to another individual outside of a strip club.

According to a report from KWQC TV6, McFedries was involved in a physical altercation with another man in the parking lot of the Daisy Dooks gentleman’s club on West 83rd Street in Davenport, Iowa on April 13. During the confrontation, McFedries allegedly punched the unidentified victim in the head, resulting in a broken skull and a fractured jaw.

Davenport police arrived on the scene around 2 a.m. where they found the unconscious person who was then transported to a local medical facility. He was later dispatched to University of Iowa Hospitals because of the seriousness of the injuries which also included a brain bleed.

Investigators obtained security footage with a search warrant and later determined that the events didn’t match initial statements from witnesses. An affidavit states that McFedries shoved the person into the parking lot and used a closed fist to strike the face and head, causing the person to fall unconscious.

Investigators determined the act unjustified and intended to cause serious injury.

Drew McFedries was booked into the Scott County courthouse on Tuesday, April 30 at 9:42 p.m. He was released the same day after posting a $10,000 cash bond. According to the inmate listing, McFedries was charged with willful injury, a class C felony, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Drew McFedries’ UFC Career left a lot to be desired

Drew McFedries competed under the UFC banner between 2007 and 2009, going 4-5 in the process. Making his promotional debut at UFC 65, ‘The Massacre’ scored a first-round knockout against Alessio Sakara. Over the next year, he would alternate wins and losses before suffering back-to-back defeats against Mike Massenzio and Thales Leites.

After exiting the UFC, he fought in several promotions, including Titan FC, ProElite, and XFO. He hung up his gloves for good in 2015, ending his career with an overall record of 12-7 in mixed martial arts.

Sean Strickland’s house is not the one you want to play ding-dong ditch at.

A couple of kids with nothing better to do in the middle of the night nearly found out the hard way after ringing the former middleweight champ’s doorbell at 1 a.m.

Strickland strolled out of his home sporting a robe and a handgun.

It’s certainly not the first time Strickland has brandished a handgun in the face of some suspicious goings-on. Last year, he pulled a gun on a man who appeared to be lurking around his vehicle. Believing the man was looking to steal his truck, Strickland approached and stuck a gun in his face, only to find out that local authorities were actively searching for the individual following a domestic incident.

Another instance nearly saw Strickland pull heat on his own friends and family after throwing him a surprise birthday party in his Las Vegas residence.

Sean Strickland returns to the Octagon at UFC 302

After surrendering his 185-pound crown to Dricus Du Plessis in January, Strickland will return to the Octagon on Saturday, June 1 for a middleweight scrap with Paulo Costa. Initially, ‘Tarzan’ turned down the opportunity after the UFC made a surprisingly low offer considering his status as a former champion.

Days after venting his frustration on social media, the UFC came correct with a new offer, prompting Strickland to sign on the dotted line and jump straight into training camp.

Currently, Strickland sits as the No. 1 ranked contender in the division. If he delivers a solid showing against ‘The Eraser’ at UFC 302, he could very well earn an opportunity to reclaim the middleweight title — once Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya settle some business first.

Alex Pereira has better grappling than he’s given credit for.

Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion is one of the most lethal strikers in mixed martial arts (MMA) history. Pereira, 36, fully committed to MMA after a full career in kickboxing that saw him obtain multiple world titles. Therefore, a grappling deficiency was always expected to be a problem in the Octagon.

Despite his skillset heavily favoring his stand-up, Pereira has succeeded mightily, winning titles at Middleweight and Light Heavyweight in less than 10 UFC fights. Currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for UFC 301 fight week, Pereira and a fellow former two-division champion, Daniel Cormier, had a little fun backstage on media day. In the encounter, the legendary wrestler, Cormier, got more than he bargained for from “Poatan” as seen in the embedded video above. An alternate view can be seen below.

Pereira recently picked up his first UFC title defense when he scored a first round knockout over Jamahal Hill (watch highlights) at UFC 300 last month (April 13, 2024). With the relatively quick finish, “Poatan” hoped to find a way onto the hometown event of UFC 301 this weekend (Sat., May 4, 2024). Instead, the Flyweight title takes center stage when the champion, Alexandre Pantoja, defends against Australia’s Steve Erceg.
