To MMA enthusiasts, there’s no doubt Floyd Mayweather would get dumped on his head by any of the male UFC champions. But what would happen if the greatest boxer in the world stepped into the cage with Ronda Rousey?

The UFC women’s bantamweight champ is the alpha female in a sport that encompasses much more than a punching contest. Kicks, knees, takedowns and submissions—these are all aspects of fighting in MMA in which Mayweather hasn’t trained.

This would explain why Rousey, an Olympic bronze medalist in judo, nonchalantly told Power 106 FM that she could beat Mayweather in an MMA fight:

I wouldn’t even stand up, I wouldn’t even be anywhere near him. I would just do like a little army crawl over there, and he would have to run away. I would just be skittering after him like the one dude in Bloodsport that was doing the whole monkey crawl fight system. I would do that. I would just bear crawl over there too low for him to hit me, and I’d tackle him down…. I spent a lot of time [on the ground], and I doubt that he does.

Rousey has managed to toss around grown men much larger than Mayweather in the past. Who could ever forget the beautiful throw she hit on middleweight Uriah Hall during a training session on Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter?

The “monkey crawl” would be one way for Rousey to avoid Mayweather’s speed and power. She would have to adopt a stealthier approach than just walking down her opponent and forcing the clinch against the cage.

Theoretically, if Rousey could find a way past Mayweather’s boxing, the odds would tip in her favor.

Of course, a serious debate will probably spurn from Rousey’s lighthearted notion that she could actually defeat Mayweather in a fight, which is unfortunate. Her comments from the interview didn’t come across as a serious challenge to the undefeated boxing legend.

If anything, it was just a playfully honest answer to an amusing question.

Ronda Rousey took Pete Holmes of the The Pete Holmes Show into the ring, and the results weren’t pretty. During the interview, Holmes was confused as to how a beautiful woman could be so dangerous, calling her a “butterfly with a switchblade.”

The UFC champion showed the TV host why she is so dangerous, putting Holmes in her signature armbar submission. He could barely hang in there.

Rousey, who remains undefeated in the Octagon, dominated Holmes during this funny skit, and it proved to be a hilarious mismatch in the ring.

Every time Georges St-Pierre has stepped into the cage for the UFC, his demeanor has been technical, precise and calculated.

GSP’s study habits surpassed those of his peers, as evidenced by his near-flawless execution in all aspects of mixed martial arts. He was a man who paid attention to every nuance of the sport, who dissected the minute details many fighters would overlook.

More than two months after taking an indefinite hiatus from MMA competition, the longtime UFC welterweight champion opened up on these tendencies, acknowledging that he has obsessive-compulsive disorder.

In an interview with Wendy Mesley of CBC News, St-Pierre opened up on how he dealt with the disorder:

As a competitor, as a fighter, it’s a good thing to have it because it makes you better, because you completely obsess about being a better martial artist. Every day, everything you do is oriented toward a goal. This same obsession I had about my work, my job, to make me better, it was going to drive me crazy. That’s why I took that break.

Though no one can question GSP’s bravery in going public with his condition, not everyone is completely convinced he actually suffers from OCD because there was no mention of a clinical diagnosis. Fightland’s Jeff Harder, for one, pointed out that the Canadian star could simply have an obsessive-compulsive personality.

Official classification aside, St-Pierre’s obsession ultimately became too much for him to bear, ruining his sleep habits and general quality of life. In turn, the poster boy for the world’s largest MMA promotion stepped away from the sport—vacating his title in the process—to focus on his mental well-being.

Now, with his UFC obligations put on hold, St-Pierre told Mesley he feels refreshed and rejuvenated—better than he has felt in years:

I feel very good. I had my first New Year’s and Christmas with my family—I mean a real one. I can spend as much time (with them) as I want. I don’t have to go away because I have a fight coming up or training, because when I was competing, I was completely obsessed about it.

St-Pierre’s disorder helps to explain both his exit from the sport and his declining performance in recent fights. He nearly lost his belt in a November title defense against Johny Hendricks, and also suffered significant damage at the hands of former No. 1 contender Carlos Condit back in 2012.

Now, GSP is taking care of himself, mind and body alike. If fight fans ever see him compete inside the Octagon again, it’s more likely they will see the St-Pierre of old—the one who overwhelmed his opponents with explosiveness and athleticism.

For now, though, it appears he is more than content taking some time off.

It’s not a good thing that Ronda Rousey doesn’t give a damn about her bad reputation, according to Arianny Celeste.

The UFC Octagon Girl hurled several verbal jabs in Rousey’s direction on Friday during an appearance on MMAjunkie Radio. Celeste admittedly isn’t a fan of Rousey’s behavior, specifically the way she parades around as a potential role model to young girls.

“I don’t really like the way she carries herself,” Celeste said. “I don’t think she’s a good role model for women. I think that women should empower each other and give each other a little pat on the back.”

Celeste also said, “I’ve personally been talked about by her, and I don’t even know her. I’ve met her twice. She said a couple things in her Maxim interview. A lot of people pointed it out to me, but I didn’t really acknowledge it.”

Maxim featured both Celeste and Rousey in its “Hot 100” back in 2012. How many times has a female athlete, let alone one involved in combat sports, been hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful women?

Many believed Rousey crossed the line by randomly calling out Celeste when Maxim asked if she felt someone undeserving ranked ahead of her on the list.

“It would have been really funny if I’d beaten Arianny Celeste, because that would be like a triathlete coming along and beating the runners in a marathon,” Rousey said. “Like, ‘Ha-ha, it’s your job to show your t******—I do that better than you!’ Maybe next year. She’s only getting older, and I’m reaching my prime.”

It was only a year ago that Rousey was one of the most beloved fighters in the world. Things quickly changed for fans after Season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter aired. Rousey starred on the reality TV series as a coach, which offered fans a more in-depth look into her personality as she prepared to fight rival Miesha Tate at UFC 168.

Needless to say, her on-screen behavior didn’t sit well with the general public, and the good-guy illusions were sniffed out rather quickly. Judging by fan reaction, you would have thought we were reliving Hulk Hogan’s heel turn back in the glory days of World Championship Wrestling.

Perhaps the most overlooked truth of the matter is that Rousey never asked to be loved. It isn’t like she won the UFC title and magically transformed into a completely different person overnight. She is a competitor through and through, and she couldn’t care less what the rest of the world thinks of her.

But for Celeste, it’s all about common courtesy.

Rousey is in a spot to sway the minds of young girls praying and hoping for an opportunity to one day be in her position. Celeste may not be an athlete, but she feels that she is also in a position to serve as a role model to young girls.

“She’s paving the way for women’s MMA, and I’ve made being a UFC Octagon Girl into a career,” Celeste said. “She should definitely recognize that and be nice.”

Being nice isn’t always easy when you’re constantly referred to as the baddest woman on the planet. Despite the negative reaction from fans and peers, Rousey has yet to shy away from who she is.

Don’t expect her to start now.

This was quite a few minutes for MMA fighter Rey Trujillo. At Friday night’s Legacy Fighting Championship 28 event, Trujillo was crushed by a brutal knee from Cosmo Alexandre, which brought Trujillo to the ground with 1:29 remaining in Round 1. Seconds later the referee stopped the fight, resulting in a technical knockout win for Alexandre.

Oh yeah, he stepped on Trujillo’s clearly vulnerable head/neck in the process. That had to have been fun.

Trujillo was not fazed, however, as he next took advantage of the attention and exposure by proposing to his girlfriend. She said yes.
