Let’s just say that UFC Vegas 43 headliner Miesha Tate was a happy woman the night arch nemesis Ronda Rousey lost for the first time. The following 2015 article was published soon after Rousey’s UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm. It is presented to you in its original, unaltered form, courtesy of the MMA News Archives.

When Ronda Rousey was shockingly dominated and knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Saturday night, many fans were emotional to see her reign come to an end. One person who wasn’t the least bit upset is Rousey’s biggest career rival, Miesha Tate.

Quite the contrary, actually.

“Cupcake” Tate spoke about Rousey’s first MMA loss while hosting a UFC viewing party at The Sapphire Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I’m f*cking stoked,” said Tate, via FOXSports.com.

“Honestly, f*ck Ronda Rousey. F*ck her and her ‘nobody has the right to beat her.’ Well, you just got beat, b*tch!”

Tate continued, touching on the other half of the equation — the fact that Holly Holm won and now Tate might be right back in the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title picture.

“I’m proud of Holly. She had the perfect, flawless game plan,” Tate said. “She came in here tonight and she’s the champion and I look forward to that fight because I think I’m next in line.”

It came down to the wire, but the WhiteHouse.gov petition to lift the Nevada Athletic Commission’s five year suspension of Nick Diaz has reached the needed 100,000 signatures. Lots of petitions get started, but few reach that threshold and get an official response from President Barack Obama’s administration. Bloody Elbow had projected that the petition would fall short, but a late search thanks to a social media push from a number of name fighters pushed it past 110,000.

So, what does this mean? According to the White House petitions site:

The right to petition your government is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. We the People provides a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country. We created We the People because we want to hear from you. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.

What do these responses look like? Generally, if the White House can’t do anything or doesn’t want to make a big stink, they won’t. Some petitions, like recognizing the Ku Klux Klan as domestic terrorists, led to responses that amounted to “we already do that.”

So this probably means nothing, but it’s still interesting to track.

Bob Arum: It’s Absolute Nonsense For McGregor & Mayweather to Fight Each Other

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9Jc_nfA3kw

Boxing promoter Bob Arum is tired of hearing about talks of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather. Whether the two men step inside a boxing ring or the Octagon, Arum thinks the talks are ridiculous (via TMZ Sports):

“Let me tell you something, Conor McGregor is not a boxer, so if they box under boxing rules with the regular gloves and so forth, a novice will beat him. Because he has no experience as a boxer. On the other hand, if they did the cage thing, Floyd wouldn’t have a chance. So, it’s just talk and it’s absolute nonsense for these guys to fight each other.”

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White says he offered both McGregor and Mayweather $25 million each to compete in a boxing bout. Arum believes White is just stirring the pot.

“He’s playing a game. Because Floyd is calling McGregor out and the point is, McGregor has a contract with UFC. So no fight, even if McGregor wanted, can be done without UFC. So, this is Dana White’s way of establishing that point.”

No end appears to be in sight for the McGregor-Mayweather talks. While there is no denying a fight between them would generate a significant amount of money, the credibility of the fight is in question.

Most boxing analysts and fans believe if “Money” comes out of retirement, he should fight a deserving challenger such as Gennady Golovkin. On the mixed martial arts (MMA) side, many feel “Notorious” should be focused on defending his UFC lightweight title against the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson at UFC 209.

While arguments can and are being made against the fight, there are some competitors who would like to see it materialize. Even former UFC fighter Chris Lytle opposes Arum’s viewpoint and thinks the fight makes total sense.

Rivera On Potential Garbrandt Rematch: “I’ll Beat Him With One Eye, I Did It To His Coach Already”

Jimmie Rivera is the #6 ranked fighter in the UFC’s Bantamweight division. Last Tuesday Jimmie went to sleep ready to fight the companies #5 ranked Bantamweight Bryan Caraway at UFC Fight Night 103 at the Talking Stick Arena on the following Sunday. By the time he laid his head down the next night shit had hit the proverbial fan.

Rivera spent some time with Tim Thompson and Josh Stephens on this week’s episode of the MMANews Podcast powered by Pony Keg Sports and explained why he said what he said, did what he did, and what people need to know about the divisions most polarizing person right now. In typical Jersey fashion, he holds nothing back and lays into every top guy in the division. Explaining how no one in the division has anything for him and why he is the ONLY choice for Cody Garbrandt’s first title defense.

“…Then you got these 3 guys. Listen Cody beat Cruz. Cruz beat Dillashaw. What is there a trifecta? They want to do soap opera bullshit with Dillashaw and Cruz, I mean Dillashaw and Cody. ‘O their ex-teammates’. Nah man. Dillashaw he ain’t good. He punches like a girl. I already know. I sparred him already. If you don’t believe me, I got the footage, it’s in my phone. Then Cruz. Cruz had a hard fight against Faber. I walked through Faber. It only makes sense to fight Cody. That’s it. That’s what makes sense. Go in there and take the belt away from him. That’s it, because I’m the better fighter.”

Listen to the full interview below and you can contact the guys via e-mail at [email protected] and follow them on Twitter @PonyKegSports and @MMANews_Tim. Make sure to also follow Jimmie Rivera on twitter @JimmieRivera135 to see who the up and coming star will fight next.
