No. 12-ranked UFC middleweight contender Tim Kennedy has been out of action since losing a highly controversial bout to No. 4-ranked Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in September 2014. Prior to that, he had won three straight over the likes of Roger Gracie, Rafael Natal, and reigning 185-pound king Michael Bisping, although he hasn’t competed in nearly two years. That will soon change, however, as Kennedy recently took to his official Facebook page to announce that he will be returning and that he has a fight set:

“I have a fight. I can’t tell you anything about it. The UFC has to announce it, but after I come back from South America, I am in shape. I have been training, I knew I had a fight coming up. And now I’m telling you – I have a fight.”

An opponent has yet to named, but Kennedy guaranteed that it was going to be ‘big’, adding in that he’s gunning for a title shot at Bisping after his comeback fight. Ironically enough, Kennedy is the last man to beat Bisping, scoring a dominant decision victory over the Brit in April 2014:

“After this fight, you can’t say that I shouldn’t be the champion. The details of that have to wait for the UFC to tell you when, where and who. But I’m telling you, I’m fighting.”

“It’s going to be big. Hopefully, Michael Bisping will stay the champ. If he beats Dan Henderson, he has no choice but to defend his title against me. I was the last guy to beat the brakes off him.”

While the UFC has yet to confirm anything, a report has surfaced from FloCombat indicating that the promotion is targeting a bout between Kennedy and former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans for November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden. The fight would mark Evans’ debut at 185-pounds, while the event will mark the UFC’s first trip to New York since the sport was legalized in New York earlier this year.

If you’re going to show up at Tim Kennedy’s home looking to collect a cup of his urine, it would be wise to make sure he knows who you are first. This fact is something a USADA representative had to find out the hard way.

Kennedy, a respected veteran of the United States Army National Guard, was a guest commentator at the recent Onnit Fight Night event and told a story about how he had a USADA representative at gunpoint.

As the UFC veteran explained, when he was receiving death threats from ISIS, one day he came home and noticed a “suspiciously slow” car driving down his street and eventually parking in front of his house.

Kennedy claimed that it was at this point, unaware of who the person was, when he grabbed a gun and put it in the man’s face, demanding to know who he was. He said it was then that the man told him he was from USADA and was simply there to collect a urine sample from the MMA star.

Talk about a near disaster!

Tim Kennedy: “I Could Seriously Destroy Michael Bisping In A Matter Of Minutes”

Well, it appears that anyone who can stand on a scale and weigh 185 pounds is not only willing to fight new UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping, they’re all racing to call out the new champion as well.

UFC middleweight contender Tim Kennedy took part in a live Facebook video chat with his fans, as seen above, and spoke at length about the reigning UFC 185-pound champion.

Regarding Bisping shocking the world to win the title by knocking out previous champion Luke Rockhold, Kennedy offered the following comments regarding how “The Count” has been since becoming champion.

“What do I think of Bisping winning the title? [Laughs]. Yeah, so Michael Bisping is the current champion in my weight class. You guys know I beat the brakes off him for 25 minutes, pretty much effortlessly.

“It’s funny because he’s calling out very specific people and my name is not ever coming out of his mouth. For obvious reasons because I could do it again. I could do it tomorrow. I train all the time, but I could seriously destroy Michael Bisping in a matter of minutes if I wanted to.”

As far as his general opinion regarding Bisping, who he defeated when the two fought in the UFC a few years ago, Kennedy stated the following.

“The last time with fought I didn’t like him – I still don’t like him – and I really wanted to make a point to bloody him up. One of my coaches was like, ‘why didn’t you just finish him? Why didn’t you just choke him out? Why didn’t you make him tap?’ Because I didn’t want to. I wanted to put him on his back and punch him in the face for 25 minutes. So that’s what I think about Michael Bisping.”

UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy hasn’t seen action since his controversial UFC 178 loss to Yoel Romero. He lost by knockout after Romero appeared to take an extended break between rounds, and we saw a much different Kennedy from that point onwards. The Army sniper was suddenly disillusioned by his job in the UFC, and began speaking out over a number of controversial topics involved in the fight game. One such ‘taboo’ subject was fighter pay.
tim kennedy Having been shelved since 2014, Kennedy is yet to compete in the UFC octagon under the new Reebok regime, and he’s been very vocal about his dislike for the deal. TK has also railed the promotion over basic fighter pay and remuneration, and claims it led to an angry confrontation with UFC president Dana White. Check it out:
“No. I like fighting. I love fighting. I make, like, three or four-times more when I don’t fight than when I do fight. And, I’m one of the higher-paid guys in the UFC, which is remarkably tragic and pathetic. So, the work that I do on a normal, day-to-day basis is way more exciting than stepping into the Octagon,” Kennedy said (h/t Elias Cepeda of FOX Sports).

“I got my hand slapped for talking about fighter pay. That was a big one. I had Dana White yell at me in front of, like, 20 other fighters. And, I’m sure you see how quiet I got about fighter pay,” he said sarcastically. “No. Still the same. Same thing about Reebok. Then, they ultimately tried to affect me in different ways – maybe not letting me fight. While they may not be able to shut me up, and maybe I’m not smart enough to shut up, myself, I’m still going to say what I’m going to say, and maybe that’s why I’m still on the shelf.”

By the sounds of it, Kennedy hasn’t really had a say in whether he’ll be fighting again. If he’s making more money outside of the UFC with less restrictions, much like x-heavyweight Brendan Schaub, then why would he come back?
