Tito Ortiz is no stranger in trash-talk.

Following Matt Mitrone’s disparaging remarks regarding Ortiz’s on-again, off-again girlfriend and former adult film star, Jenna Jameson, “The Hunington Beach Bad Boy” wasn’t too pleased with the UFC heavyweight and proceeded to confront him.

Mitrione’s comments emerged during a segment on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani in March.

“I think that it’s a great promotion that they’re finally letting women fight for their man’s honor. I think that’s a great thing. We all know that Tito’s gonna give some type of excuse and back out, so Jenna’s gonna have to step in and fight Bader for Tito’s honor,” Mitrione said during his weekly segment of The Mitrione Minute, courtesy of CagePotato.com.

Mitrione is referring to Ortiz’s upcoming bout with Ryan Bader at UFC 132. Mitrione’s comment was referring to Ortiz’s history of not committing to fights and pulling out of them. Mitrione continued to poke fun at Ortiz’s expense, however this time, he turned his attention to his girlfriend.

“Bader, be really careful because it’s a trap fight. We all know that she’s awesome off her back and she’s got phenomenal top control, but remember that she doesn’t choke easily,” he said.

At the UFC Summit, Ortiz appeared upset with Mitrione’s comments and when Mitrione tried to shed some light on the entire situation, recalling it as only a joke, and offered an apology, Ortiz refused.

CagePotato.com was able to gather the dialogue from the video and was able to make out what was audible from both fighters.

“Well then I guess we’re about to scrap then. I’m not the one who’s getting aggressive. You’re the one that’s getting aggressive. Hey, I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I apologize if I hurt your feelings,” Mitrione said.

Mitrione became more aggressive and challenged Ortiz to fight, before security interfered and broke up the altercation.

Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione’s Fight Broken Up By George Sotiropoulos (VIDEO)

Roy Nelson took it to heart when Zuffa suggested the fighters become more involved in social media, so he used his phone to film a minute of words exchanged between Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione at The Fight Summit. We’re not sure if a physical fight would have broken out but Mitrione does get close enough to Ortiz to excite some kind of violence. At that point, good guy George Sotiropoulos stepped in to help a Zuffa rep break things up. Man, how cool is this? It’s a fight between 2 fighters filmed by a fighter and broken up by a fighter. And it’s all far more entertaining than last night’s TUF episode. Watch out media and production crews, these guys are gunning for our jobs.

The fight stemmed from an interview Mitrione gave to Ariel Helwani during The MMA Hour, saying Ortiz will likely pull out of his fight with Ryan Bader and his wife Jenna Jameson will step in:

“I think it’s awesome… awesome that the UFC is finally doing this. I think that it’s a great promotion that they’re finally letting women fight for their man’s honor. I think that’s a great thing. We all know that Tito’s gonna give some type of excuse and back out, so Jenna’s gonna have to step in and fight [Ryan] Bader for Tito’s honor. Bader, be really careful because it’s a trap fight. We all know that she’s awesome off her back and she’s got phenomenal top control, but remember that she doesn’t choke easily.”

Tito Ortiz Isn’t Impressed With Matt Mitrione’s Jokes

If you didn’t catch the Mitrione Minute above from The MMA Hour back in March where Matt Mitrione poked fun at Jenna Jameson, watch it so the video you’re about to see makes sense.

Here’s what Meathead had to say about the former porn queen and her on-again-off-again boyfriend Tito Ortiz:

“I think it’s awesome…AWESOME that the UFC is finally doing this. I think that it’s a great promotion that they’re finally letting women fight for their man’s honor. I think that’s a great thing. We all know that Tito’s gonna give some type of excuse and back out, so Jenna’s gonna have to step in and fight Bader for Tito’s honor,” Mitrione deadpanned. “Bader, be really careful because it’s a trap fight. We all know that she’s awesome off her back and she’s got phenomenal top control, but remember that she doesn’t choke easily.”

Mitrione went on to say that he’s glad he isn’t fighting Ortiz.

“I think that’s probably a great thing [that I won’t get a chance to fight him] because I would really feel bad if I retired Tito,” he explained. “Bader, please finish him up and send him on his way.”

One would assume that the shot at Jameson or the jabs he took at Ortiz making excuses to pull out of fights (like he did with his exhibition boxing match with UFC president Dana White) is what prompted Tito to confront Mitrione yesterday at the UFC Fighter Summit.

Here’s what went down between the two, as recorded by Roy Nelson, whose camera malfunctioned and added additional annoying music to what was already playing in the conference room:

From what we can gather, Tito confronted Mitrione and “Meathead” told him it was only a joke and he was sorry if it offended him. When Tito refused to accept his apology, Mitrione was ready to throw down.

“Well then I guess we’re about to scrap then. I’m not the one who’s getting aggressive. You’re the one that’s getting aggressive. Hey, I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I apologize if I hurt your feelings,” Mitrione offered. “Yeah, well, fuck you then. You’re the one fucking your boss and you’re the one that wants to scrap. Aren’t you the one who wants to scrap?”

A few points:

• Jenna tweeted after Mitrione made the comments about her that she found them hilarious.

• According to Jenna, she and Tito are no longer a couple, so it would seem that “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is more upset that Mitrione called him an excuse maker and asked Bader to retire him.

• Matt seems like a bit of a loose cannon you wouldn’t want to fuck with when he gets angry.

• George Sotiropoulos’ reaction to the confrontation is priceless.

UFC 132 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 2. The fight card will be headlined by a UFC bantamweight bout between the champion Dominick Cruz and challenger, former WEC featherweight champion, Urijah Faber.

The two fighters have met before, with Faber (25-4) defeating Cruz by first round submission. That loss, in 2007, remains the only blemish on Cruz’s record (17-1).

Since that time, the two have developed a mutual dislike for each other.

“Me and Urijah don’t really get along very much, needless to say,” Cruz told Heavy.com’s Fight Day. “It goes all the way back to the first time we fought about four years ago I’d say. I fought him at 145 pounds for the world title. I did some stuff that made him angry. He did some stuff after the fight that made me angry.”

“It just stuck in my head and just gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I never really just had a good feeling towards him since then. It just makes it that much easier to get in there and punch him in the face.”

Faber had the following to say about the animosity between the two.

“I don’t really like Cruz very much. You keep hearing about it, because everybody keeps asking about it,” Faber said in a recent UFC media call. “The bottom line is I think the guy kind of chose me as an enemy, and I accept. We fought once, and we’re going to do it again.”

The main card will also see the return of Wanderlei Silva to the Octagon. Silva, who has been rehabbing from knee surgery, has not fought since defeating Michael Bisping by unanimous decision in February of last year.

Silva will face Chris Leben on the Las Vegas card. Leben is coming off a TKO loss to Brian Stann at UFC 125.

Tito Ortiz will be facing Ryan Bader and his possible release from the UFC when he steps into the cage on July 2. UFC president Dana White has made it clear that Ortiz has run out of chances with the UFC and if he does not deliver a win in this bout he will be released from his contract. Ortiz has not won a fight since defeating Ken Shamrock in 2006.

Standing in Ortiz’s way, Bader will look to get back in the win column after suffering the first loss of his 13 fight MMA career to Jon Jones at UFC 125.

Rounding out the main card which will be shown on pay-per-view at 9:00 pm ET:

Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman

Carlos Condit vs. Dong Hyun Kim

Preliminary fights that have been made official:

Melvin Guillard vs. Shane Roller

Brian Bowles vs. Takeya Mizugaki

Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs. Aaron Simpson

Tickets for UFC 132 will go on sale on Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. PT and will be priced from $75-$800.

UFC 129 Recap: Vladimir Matyushenko Wants to Rematch Tito Ortiz or Lil Nog

Success is not measured by the longevity of a career, but how much productivity one’s career is able to amount. And Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko certainly adds some truth to that statement.

Following his knockout victory over Jason Brillz at UFC 129, the Belarusian told Ron Kruck of Inside MMA that he feels accomplished to still be competing in mixed martial arts at 40 years old.

“Well it’s a big, big acheivement. For me, myself and for all the industry, for MMA, UFC and for all the fans, I am just glad it happened.”

Holding a professional record of 26-5-0, the UFC veteran has seen it all in MMA, competing in multiple organizations including, UFC, IFL, IFC and Affliction Entertainment.

And despite all the experience that he holds, Matyushenko admits that times have changed.

“It was pretty much fighting in a backyard or the parking lot, and now it ended up being this big in such a short period of time, even I’m surprised,” Matyushenko said.

After collecting a victory over Brillz, Matyushenko has now won five of his last six bouts inside the Octagon, and while he isn’t too savvy on hand picking opponents, there are two competitors who come to mind regarding his next bout.

“I have lost in the UFC to Tito Ortiz, and I have lost to ‘Lil Nog’ (Rogerio Nogueira) and I’d like to take those losses back.”

While the idea of witnessing a rematch between either legend is worth the price of admission, currently both Ortiz and Nogueira are scheduled to square off against Ryan Bader and Rich Franklin at UFC 132 and UFC 133 respectively.

In the meantime, Matyushenko will look to enjoy some time off after his most recent win while he waits for his next challenger to emerge.
