Yan Dillashaw

UFC bantamweight contender Petr Yan is open to a fight with TJ Dillashaw in the future.

Yan is on a six-fight winning streak following his knockout of Urijah Faber at UFC 245 back in December. “No Mercy” is targeting a title shot next as he hopes to become bantamweight champion by the end of 2020.

Should that be the case, there is one fight that interests him which could take place in 2021 — Dillashaw.

“I’ve been asked about it,” Yan told RT Sport. “People are saying it would be very interesting to see us fight, because we have similar styles, we’re both stand-up fighters, we both have hard shots and both look to finish fights as soon as possible.

“I’d be interested in this fight. Ever since I started my career I’ve watched his fights. I like him as a fighter, I think he’s a competitive fighter. So I’d be glad to fight him in the future. And I think it will happen. It’s just about one year and he’ll be back. He’s a big name, I think he’ll be back to the rankings when he comes back, so I think we’ll fight.”

Dillashaw, of course, was the former bantamweight champion until he vacated his title last year after testing positive for EPO. He has since been suspended for two years and will be eligible to return early next year.

Should Yan end up facing Dillashaw in a potential matchup, the Siberian-Russian has no worries about the former champion testing dirty. In fact, he doesn’t care:

“No, I don’t care,” he added. “He’s been caught, and he’s not denying it. But as I said, I don’t really care. He’ll be tested more carefully. So on fight night he’ll be clean.”

TJ Dillashaw is in the midst of a two-year UFC suspension after admittedly violating the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) anti-doping policy.

Dillashaw admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) ahead of his flyweight title fight with Henry Cejudo this January – which he lost via first-round TKO. As a result, Dillashaw dropped the 135-pound title to begin his suspension. However, just because Dillashaw has been sitting on the sidelines, doesn’t mean he’s not working to better himself as a mixed martial artist, or an athlete.

The former bantamweight champ recently shared a post-workout photo on his Instagram page, in which he’s looking significantly leaner than when we last saw him. Check it out here:

“Back to grinding in the garage in good company.”

Prior to his USADA violation, Dillashaw was argued as possibly the best bantamweight the sport has ever seen. Of course, his drug testing issues have since hindered that argument. Speaking in a recent interview, Dillashaw suggested it was the one and only time he has ever abused PEDs in his MMA career.

“Absolutely, man. I’ve been under a microscope,” Dillashaw said. “I got alerted from USADA when they first started the tests. Since the [Dominick] Cruz fight, I got email after email saying ‘you have been tested.’

“They went back and retested all my old samples, obviously which is completely understandable to make sure there was nothing that slid by. Everything’s out in the open. I’m under a microscope, I’ll continue to be. I’ll continue to get drug tested left and right which is completely understandable. But yeah, I have nothing to hide.”

TJ Dillashaw is in the midst of a two-year suspension for intentionally using EPO to get an advantage in his flyweight title fight with Henry Cejudo back in January. Dillashaw still lost the fight via first-round TKO and was subsequently busted for EPO use before being handed his suspension.

Speaking on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” yesterday, Dillashaw was asked if this was the only time he has used performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) for competition. Dillashaw confirmed it was the one and only time he had.

“Absolutely, man. I’ve been under a microscope,” Dillashaw said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “I got alerted from USADA when they first started the tests. Since the [Dominick] Cruz fight, I got email after email saying ‘you have been tested.’ They went back and retested all my old samples, obviously which is completely understandable to make sure there was nothing that slid by.

However, one man who isn’t buying this is Dillashaw’s former Alpha Male teammate-turned-rival, Cody Garbrandt. Taking to his Instagram story, Garbrandt called Dillashaw a “coward,” claiming Dillashaw has been using EPO for years.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw has nothing but time — and he wants to utilize it by boxing Floyd Mayweather.

Dillashaw is currently on the sidelines after testing positive for EPO earlier this year. As a result, he is suspended for two years and will only be eligible to return to action in January 2021.

He has already spoken of coming back strong and becoming the champion once again. But rather than think about potential opponents for his comeback, he feels there’s an opportunity for him to enter the boxing world.

Mayweather and UFC president Dana White have been hinting at some sort of collaboration for the former to come out of retirement once again. And Dillashaw wants to be the one facing the former five-division champion in the boxing ring:

“Who I really want — Mayweather wants a UFC star that’s good at striking,” Dillashaw said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “I got a whole year to reinvent myself to become a boxer. I got the who’s who in the boxing world. I’ve been training with the Lomachenkos, the Terence Crawfords. He ain’t going to be able to wear me out and finish me. My cardio. I think that’s a very intriguing fight.”

It’s not even about the money for Dillashaw. He just wants to prove that the mixed martial arts world can compete in boxing:

“I would love to get that Mayweather fight not even for the money, just for the fact of proving us UFC fighters got what it takes to get in that ring,” he added. “I think Conor McGregor did a great job just showing what we can do, our movements are awkward and that it’s tough for them to deal with.

“And I’ve seen it myself in the boxing world. … I think that would be a super intriguing thing to get involved in and I got the time to do it.”

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw admitted he sold his soul to the devil by taking EPO before his flyweight title fight with Henry Cejudo. However, that is the only time has ever taken a banned substance.

Dillashaw vacated his bantamweight title earlier this year before the United States Anti-Doping Agency suspended him for two years after testing positive for EPO. The banned substance helps with a fighter’s endurance and cardio as a fight goes on, with Dillashaw claiming he took it to help with the drastic weight cut to 125.

But ever since that revelation, many fans are now suspecting that Dillashaw has been using performance enhancing drugs his whole career. Such an event can alter a fighter’s legacy and Dillashaw’s seems to have been affected drastically.

However, he definitively claims he has never taken a banned substance prior to his use of EPO:

“Absolutely, man. I’ve been under a microscope,” Dillashaw said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “I got alerted from USADA when they first started the tests. Since the [Dominick] Cruz fight, I got email after email saying ‘you have been tested.’ They went back and retested all my old samples, obviously which is completely understandable to make sure there was nothing that slid by.
