Report: Travis Browne Ditches Edmond Tarverdyan’s Gym in Favor of Black House

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1qJMyCPZ4Q

Travis Browne is undergoing a change of scenery.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight appears to have left Edmond Tarverdyan’s Glendale Fighting Club for Black House. UFC Insiders reported the news.

“Hapa’s” girlfriend and once dominant women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is currently training at Tarverdyan’s gym. There’s been no word on if she’ll follow Browne to Black House should she decide to continue fighting.

Tarverdyan has been under a heavy amount of scrutiny. Following Rousey’s blowout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, many criticized her stand-up and blamed Tarverdyan’s coaching. Even “Rowdy’s” mother urged her daughter to leave Glendale Fighting Club.

Things didn’t get much better for Tarverdyan as he was suspended by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for not disclosing his prior arrest back in 2010. He was also hit with a $5,000 fine. The suspension lasted three months.

Now more than ever, Tarverdyan is being blasted by fans. Amanda Nunes destroyed Rousey in 48 seconds and it didn’t look like “Rowdy” made any improvements to her stand-up. Her lack of head movement, defense and awkward footwork were apparent.

Browne will be facing Derrick Lewis at UFC 208. The event will be held inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 11.

Travis Browne Leaves Edmond Tarverdyan For Black House

Travis Browne has finally left Edmond Tarverdyan’s Glendale Fighting Club. Heading into his pivotal UFC 208 match-up with noted power slugger Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis, Browne has reportedly moved his training camp to Black House MMA to get a fresh start in 2017.

A tweet surfaced from UFC Insiders confirming “Hapa’s” move:

That should be music to the ears of Browne’s fans, as the onetime-promising contender has dropped four out of last six bouts with victories over Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione, who are now retired and fighting in Bellator, respectively – and the win over Mitrione came at least partly due to a controversial eye poke.

Prior to the downward trend, Browne had notched three straight huge knockout victories, stopping John Barnett, Alistair Overeem, and Gabriel Gonzaga while earning “Knockout of the Night” bonus for each bout as a member of Greg Jackson’s respected Albuquerque camp. Obviously “Hapa’s” success took a steep downward trend when he moved to Los Angeles and began training at GFC under Edmond Tarverdyan, the coach who is undoubtedly under the most heat in all of MMA right now.

But that heat isn’t for anything he’s done to Browne’s career, as Tarverdyan has clearly been one of the main reasons for former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s steep decline in her two recent knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, the latter coming in a shocking and sobering 48 seconds at last December’s UFC 207.

As the collective MMA world cries out for Rousey to leave Tarverdyan and reinvent herself, this move from her boyfriend could be a bigger sign in terms of “Rowdy” finally being completely honest with herself.

That remains to be seen, however. In the meantime, Browne will be preparing at a gym more focused on the complete, overall aspects of MMA as he prepares for a must-win bout against the ultra-dangerous Lewis.

Will his infamous girlfriend soon follow suit?

Ben Rothwell Blasts ‘Phony Man-Whore’ Travis Browne

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Ben Rothwell has never been one to hold his tongue. The seasoned veteran has faced a plethora of 265-pound bruisers including Alistair Overeem, Cain Velasquez, and Juinor dos Santos. One man “Big Ben” has yet to do battle with is Travis Browne.

That may change soon.

Rothwell was on SiriusXM’s Fight Club (via MMAJunkie.com) and he ripped “Hapa” for using Ronda Rousey as his “sugar mama:”

“I have no problems talking (expletive) on him because he brings (expletive) on himself. He’s one of the guys – I try to be nice to him and cool, and the more I learn about him, the more of his history, he’s one of those guys that’s just a man-whore. He’s a phony, and a lot of (expletive) pisses me off with him. Why did you suddenly leave a great camp that made him good and move to a (expletive) gym that’s got a lot of guys losing? For me, I think it was a financial thing. He went there and found a sugar mama in his girlfriend. He’s just looking to get himself taken care of.”

Rothwell went a step further and took Rousey to task over the way she’s handled her two losses. As far as “Big Ben”  is concerned, we might as well have not even heard of “Rowdy” if she doesn’t make a comeback.

“What matters is now. What’s she going to do now? What matters is six months from now if she walks away from the sport and never fights again, she never has to have her name brought up again. If she can’t come back from everything she’s been through and being put on such a high pedestal and making waves, then she loses two fights and she doesn’t come back from that? Well, then she’s a loser and she never was a champion.

Ben Rothwell Rips Ronda Rousey: She Was ‘Never A Champion’

Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been the hot topic in the media ever since she made her long awaited return at last weekend’s (Fri., Dec. 30, 2016) UFC 207 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the ex-champion, as she was finished in just 48 seconds by Amanda Nunes.

That makes it two straight losses for the once dominant Rousey, and many are voicing their opinions on what her next step should be.

Like many others, heavyweight Ben Rothwell has his opinion, and he feels as if Rousey’s next move could determine her legacy. If she doesn’t return after the losing skid, “Big Ben” says ‘she never was a champion’:

“What matters is now,” Rothwell told Sirius XM’s “Fight Club”. “What’s she going to do now? What matters is six months from now if she walks away from the sport and never fights again, she never has to have her name brought up again. If she can’t come back from everything she’s been through and being put on such a high pedestal and making waves, then she loses two fights and she doesn’t come back from that? Well, then she’s a loser and she never was a champion.”

In addition to Rousey, her coach Edmond Tarverydyan has also received a tremendous amount of criticism in the MMA community as many feel as if he isn’t the best coach for the “Rowdy” one. Rousey’s boyfriend and UFC heavyweight Travis Browne has also struggled since training under Tarverdyan, and Rothwell feels as if Browne made the move simply so Rousey could be his ‘sugar mama’:

“I have no problems talking (expletive) on him because he brings (expletive) on himself,” Rothwell said. “He’s one of the guys – I try to be nice to him and cool, and the more I learn about him, the more of his history, he’s one of those guys that’s just a man-whore. He’s just looking to get himself taken care of.

“He’s got some brains in, like, ‘Why should I fight? I’ll just get her to pay for everything.’ It’s a good financial move on his part, but it hasn’t done his personal career any good and a lot of people think the guy has regressed and he’s not getting any better. He’s lost his footwork, he’s lost a lot of different things that made him good. We’re going to find out with Derrick Lewis. Is the guy going to get motivated? That’s one thing about our sport you can look like you’re just out of it and forgotten about then next thing you know you can resurge yourself.”

Rothwell certainly had some strong feelings on Rousey and Browne, but he also made headlines when he offered to take a two-on-one fight against middleweight champion Michael Bisping and welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, two fighters who recently discussed a super fight against each other:

Video: Michael “Venom” Page Trolls Ronda Rousey Again

michael-page-ronda-rousey

Bellator star Page has mocked the nature of Ronda Rousey’s loss to Amanda Nunes.

Earlier this week, Bellator’s own “MVP” trolled the former champ with a video entitled “Do the Ronda Rousey”, following her stunning loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BOs6og9h57U/?taken-by=michaelvenompage

This was far from well received by Rousey’s team, and most notably her partner [UFC Heavyweight] Travis Browne.  Browne, who is also trained by Edmond Tarverdyan,  took to Twitter to make his feelings known to Page. The tweet below was later deleted:

Now, in what appears to be further goading, Page uploaded another video to Instagram titled “When you get coached by your FRIENDS”.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BOydE5dh4Ej/?taken-by=michaelvenompage

Rousey’s loss to Nunes has raised questions regarding her abilities to compete in the UFC. Following a career in which she systematically dominated her opponents prior to her loss to Holly Holm in Melbourne, Australia at UFC 193. The internet has been awash with memes and videos poking fun at the ex-135lb champions whimpering display against “The Lioness”.

While “MVP” was not the only one to roast Rousey following her defeat, he looks undeterred in keeping the game going. Will a full-blown social media war develop between Browne and Page, or will the former decide to let things go in a hope that the story of the week in MMA will eventually cool off?
