Tommy Fury has broken his silence following Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley 2.

The Love Island star was supposed to square off against Paul this past weekend but was forced out of the bout after suffering broken ribs and a chest infection in camp.

Woodley stepped in on short notice with the hope of avenging the split decision defeat he suffered at the hands of ‘The Problem Child’ earlier this year. Things didn’t quite pan on the way he planned and in the sixth round of their rematch, Woodley was knocked out cold by the former Disney actor. Fury stayed radio silent over the weekend. The 22-year-old was so quiet that Paul took to social media to suggest Fury has now interest in rebooking their fight.

On Wednesday, Fury spoke out for the first time about Paul vs. Woodley 2.

“I think it’s a pretty bad place you’re in when the commentator’s whose commentating your fight says, ‘It’s getting pretty hard to watch now,’” Fury said in an interview posted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions. “And they’re joking between the commentators, ‘Who won that round? Well, nobody.’ That went on for well more than half the fight. I was just watching it and it was very upsetting for me to sit there and watch it. I’m not gonna beat around the bush because I know if I’d have been there it wouldn’t have gone six, seven rounds or whatever it was. It wouldn’t go there because for the first four or five rounds, the guy didn’t throw a punch. He didn’t throw anything. They were just wrestling each other.

“So for me to sit there and watch that and it was meant to be my night and that was meant to be my time, you get everybody talking sh*t back and forth, ‘he’s done this and done that,’ the people that know me know how much of a bitter pill that was. They know what I’ve been going through and that’s it. It was hard to watch because that should have been me in Tampa Bay, Florida. Thousands of people packed that arena, live all across the world, that should have been me and it will be me.”

Fury wants to rearrange his fight with Paul and sees no benefit to the YouTuber calling out MMA stars such as Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor.

“I don’t get what he’s trying to achieve by calling out UFC people,” Fury said. “He wants to be a boxer doesn’t he? So fight a boxer.

“Calling out all these wrestlers and non-boxers, in a cage they’d kill him any day of the week but let’s be honest and let’s be serious here: would he beat Nate Diaz [in boxing]? One hundred percent. Would he beat any other MMA super fighter, 100 percent, because they’re not boxers. I’ve really got nothing else to say on that because I’m not entertaining that. He’s the fight I want next and he’s the fight that’s gonna happen next.”

Fury concluded the interview by sending a message to Paul, he said.

“My message to Mr. Paul is what’s happened is very unfortunate. I understand he’s gonna be angry. He’s gone through training camps, expenses, but I’m angry also and we’ve got a lot of unfinished business. I think we need to get this year out the way, call this a write-off, you enjoy time off and I think we’ll meet up in 2022. We’ll get this fight done and get this unfinished business out of the way. Everybody wants to see this fight.

“You want to proclaim yourself as a boxer. Stop calling out the UFC people. Come and fight me like you were going to. Yeah, what happened was unfair. My fault, my bad, hold my hands up, what can I do? Ungodly things happen. But next year, let’s get it done bright and early, let’s get back in training and let’s give this whole world the fight that they want to see. Let’s see if you’re the real boxer or not. You’re getting all this and you’re getting all that that you’ve never fought a boxer before and you still haven’t. Let’s get this fight on, let’s get this fight done, I’ll be ready to go in March. So I’ll see you then.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Sean O’Malley feels that following on from his knockout loss Tyron Woodley has ruined the legacy he had built for himself across MMA. Woodley has lost back-to-back boxing matches against Jake Paul with the rematch ending by a devastating KO.

‘The Chosen One’ also had the misfortune of losing his final four bouts in a row within the UFC and although it was against the top end of the division it showed the true trajectory the former welterweight champion was heading on.

O’Malley spoke on an episode of the TimboSugarShow and explained that like many fans the vicious KO caught him off guard given the slow pace of the fight in the rounds prior to this.

“I was watching them on my laptop with my eyes kind of shutting. It was the sixth round getting closer to the end of the fight. It looked like it was probably gonna go all eight [rounds] and it was a close fight.”

“I didn’t really know who I had necessarily winning each round. But, out of f*cking nowhere, [Paul] slept him… bad!”

Sean O’Malley says Woodley’s legacy is now ‘completely destroyed’

Woodley now sits in a difficult spot as an athlete himself. Given his ending at the UFC, it is extremely unlikely they would be looking to re-sign the former champion, and with boxing not going the way he wanted who knows what’s next for him.

However, no matter what adventure he moves on to Sean O’Malley feels that this loss could still have a serious effect.

“Dude, it completely destroyed his f*cking legacy,” O’Malley said. “That could affect Tyron Woodley big time, or he could just be completely unattached to that and still be happy. That’s a f*cking skill that you have to require.” (transcribed by mmanews.com)

Ranked UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley thinks the legacy of Tyron Woodley took a massive hit this weekend.

Like most of the combat sports world, O’Malley tuned in on Saturday night to see Woodley box Jake Paul for the second time. The active UFC fighter witnessed Paul pull off a sixth-round knockout, flooring Woodley with a wailing overhand right.

O’Malley described his viewing experience, mentioning how the knockout caught him off guard after a fairly slow-paced fight before then.

“I was watching them on my laptop with my eyes kind of shutting. It was the sixth round getting closer to the end of the fight. It looked like it was probably gonna go all eight [rounds] and it was a close fight,” said O’Malley on Episode 168 of the TimboSugarShow. “I didn’t really know who I had necessarily winning each round. But, out of f*cking nowhere, [Paul] slept him… bad!”

O’Malley Says Woodley’s Legacy Has Been Damaged

Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, has now lost two boxing bouts to Paul. O’Malley sees the outcome as something that has damaged his reputation greatly. However, he also mentioned its important how Woodley feels about the loss.

“Dude, it completely destroyed his f*cking legacy,” said O’Malley, who just pulled off a win two weekends ago at UFC 269.

O’Malley compared the outcome to Ben Askren’s loss to Paul. He mentioned how Askren seemed comfortable with losing, even after it happened. However, he also said that not just anybody can feel that way about a loss.

“That could affect Tyron Woodley big time, or he could just be completely unattached to that and still be happy. That’s a f*cking skill that you have to require.”

Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley is rolling with the punches after his loss to Jake Paul, even paying a fan for a hilarious meme.

Woodley lost to Paul this weekend via sixth-round knockout, in arguably one of the most eye-opening knockouts in recent boxing history. Paul was supposed to fight Tommy Fury before Fury suffered an injury, and he stepped up on short notice.

Woodley has been criticized from all angles since his loss to the polarizing Paul but has taken it with stride. After hosting a fan contest on his Instagram for the best meme from the knockout, he awarded content creator Chris Ashley a $5,000 prize.

“Merry Christmas!” Woodley said in the caption. “Spread some love and do some good.”

Tyron Woodley Seems Forward-Thinking After Jake Paul Loss

Just minutes after his loss to Paul, Woodley seemed optimistic about his fighting future during his post-fight press conference. He encouraged fans not to write him off just yet as he gets ready for a potentially very active 2022.

Woodley has previously said that he envisions multiple boxing and MMA fights next year. He was originally slated to face Dan Hardy in a boxing match in the UK in January before the Paul rematch became available.

Woodley is arguably one of the most decorated fighters in UFC history, stemming from his welterweight championship run. He earned the belt over Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 via first-round knockout before defending the belt three times.

Tyron Woodley has stuck to his word.

Woodley on social media announced that he was holding a contest for fans to create the best meme of him being knocked out by Jake Paul. He said he saw all the memes of the KO, so he wanted to have fun with it and the winner would get $5,000.

On Tuesday, the winner was revealed as Woodley took to Instagram to share the best meme and proof he sent $5,000 to the fan.

In the video, the Instagram user named Chris Ashley posted a video featuring Woodley’s knockout that shows him falling into the shadow realm while taking trips through several locations, including the new Spider-Man movie and being a part of Finding Nemo before ending up face down on a couch alongside Ben Askren and Nate Robinson, who suffered the same fate when clashing with the social influencer turned boxer.

Alongside the three who suffered KO losses to Paul was Conor McGregor after being knocked out by Dustin Poirier in January, which the YouTuber made famous by making the “Sleepy McGregor” chain and sending it to Poirier.

Although Woodley did suffer a vicious KO at the hands of Paul on Saturday, the good news is he is having fun with the loss. He is having his fans create memes and paying them for their hard work.

Tyron Woodley is now 0-2 as a boxer and is 0-6 in his last six fights between MMA and boxing. However, he made it clear he would come back and that this was not the end of him in combat sports.

“I’m not done,” Woodley said at the post-fight press conference. “Please do not look at me with sorrow eyes. Please do not look at me shaking your head. I done f*cked a lot of people up. A lot of people had to have that talk in the locker room. A lot of coaches had to go back to the drawing board. A lot of people, in their mind, they knew that they knew, and I saw in their faces and I broke their heart when I took that from them.

“At some point, you’re going to have to start putting a little bit of respect on Jake’s name. I never really disrespected him as a power puncher,” Woodley continued. “That’s something we always knew. That’s why my defense was so tight. Had he dropped his hand on me, the same sh*t would have happened. I can’t cry over spilled milk. I’m blessed to be here. I’m blessed for the opportunity to fight again and show you guys that I’m f*cking still here.”
