Tyson Fury offers words of encouragement to Alex Pereira after the pair met earlier this week in Australia.

Just over three months from his devastating knockout loss to Israel Adesanya, Pereira is straight back to action and will take on Jan Blachowicz in his first fight at light-heavyweight. Pereira will look to pick up where he left off in 2022, which saw him earn three wins inside the Octagon capped off with a KO victory over Adesanya to capture the 185lb title.

Pereira seems determined as ever and while the Brazilian doesn’t seem the type to need spurred on, he did receive some encouraging words from boxing heavyweight champion, Tyson fury, when the pair met earlier this week.

“Are you okay? Good to see ya!” Tyson Fury said when greeting Pereira. “I saw your fight with [Israel] Adesanya the other day.”

“It was going good until it wasn’t,” Alex Pereira said through a translator.

“It’s called the fight game. What can you do? Fury said. “I thought you guys were small, you’re f*****g massive. You kickbox? Oh yeah, GLORY. You know Rico Verhoeven? I taught him how to box. Big guy, good fighter… Are you ready to rock and roll? It was nice to see you, very nice to see you.” (H/T BJPenn.com)

Alex Pereira’s path to the title

Should Pereira earn the victory over Blachowicz in their July 29 fight at UFC 291, it is likely that he could see himself challenging for the 205lb title. However, Blachowicz, a former light-heavyweight champion is no joke and possess good striking, great leg kick defence and a solid grappling game which has proven to be one of ‘Poatan’s weaknesses.

Don’t expect to see Tyson Fury step inside a cage anytime soon. Or ever for that matter.

The heavyweight boxing icon has been in a war of words with reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones after long-time commentator Joe Rogan suggested that ‘Bones’ would mop the floor with ‘The Gypsy King’ should the two ever be locked in a room with one another. Fury took exception to Rogan’s comments and snapped back at the podcaster with a profanity-laced response.

It didn’t take long for Jon Jones to chime in, opening the Octagon door and inviting Tyson Fury to step through it.

Jon, you talk about being in a cage, I’m not a cage fighter, mate. I’m a boxer — the best boxer, actually,” Fury replied. “So if you want to come into a boxing ring and fight me, be my guest.”

Tyson Fury once again confirmed his disinterest in cage fighting while meeting up with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on Wednesday evening in Australia. The two titleholders were backstage while attending the Joseph Parker vs. Djanjo Opelu boxing match in Melbourne. In the video clip, which you can see below, the two kings of their respective sports were incredibly cordial with one another, but during the interaction, Tyson Fury made it abundantly clear that you’ll never see him inside the Octagon.

What’s Next for Tyson Fury and Israel Adesanya?

Tyson Fury is still awaiting his next opponent after talks with multiple potential opponents, including Ukrainian superstar Oleksandr Usyk, failed to produce a matchup. However, recent reports suggested that the two heavyweight superstars could square off this December in Saudi Arabia as part of an event also rumored to feature Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua in the co-main event slot.

As for Israel Adesanya, the world is waiting with bated breath for an announcement regarding the UFC middleweight champion’s first title defense after reclaiming the crown with a second-round knockout of Brazilian boogeyman Alex Pereira at UFC 287 in April. Dana White recently hinted that plans for Adesanya have already been made, but are yet to be announced. One popular theory is that ‘The Last Stylebender’ could be moving up to light heavyweight for a second crack at becoming a two-division UFC champion, challenging reigning 205-pound titleholder Jamahal Hill.

Dana White will make Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury fight under the UFC banner

UFC president, Dana White has claimed he will make a potential cross over fight between current promotional heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, and undisputed WBC heavyweight titleholder, Tyson Fury a reality – if the Morecambe native is “serious’ about a potential fight.

Jones, the current undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, snapped a three-year-plus hiatus from active mixed martial arts competition back in March of this year against former interim champion, Ciryl Gane.

Clinching the vacant heavyweight crown, Jones managed to submit the Frenchman with a one-sided opening round guillotine choke.

As for Fury, the undisputed WBC heavyweight champion was the subject of a somewhat of a surprising call out from Jones, before appearing to play down the prospect of sharing the Octagon with the Endicott look-see-do fighter.

Dana White offers to book Jon Jones, Tyson Fury fight under UFC banner

However, according to the above-mentioned UFC leader, White, if Fury ever wants to test his skills under the banner of the promotion – particularly in the fight with Jones, he would “make it happen”.

“Jon Jones is the baddest dude on the planet,” Dana White told BroBible during a recent interview. “There’s no debate, there’s no denying it. There’s no debate. I don’t care what anybody says, everybody can try to spin it, a lot of this stuff is clickbait, and you know how I am.”

“If Tyson Fury really wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC, I will make it happen,” Dana White explained. “Here’s my thing right now to Tyson Fury, ‘Tyson, if you’re serious, let me know.’ Tyson and I have a good relationship. I like Tyson Fury.”

Yet to be booked for his sophomore outing at the heavyweight limit, Jones is expected, however, to headline UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden – taking on former undisputed division champion, Stipe Miocic in his first attempted title defense at the heavyweight limit.

Joe Rogan has seemingly kicked off an unexpected rivalry between heavyweight combat sports icons Jon Jones and Tyson Fury.

It all started during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience when the popular podcaster suggested that if the two men were locked in a room, Jon Jones would make quick work of the WBC heavyweight champion. “You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet?” Rogan asked. “If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.”

It didn’t take long for Tyson Fury to snap back at Rogan in a profanity-laced rant where he called the longtime UFC commentator a “little f*cking bald-headed midget.” That then prompted Jon Jones to enter the chat, suggesting that if ‘The Gypsy King’ ever wants to test his skills inside the Octagon, just give Uncle Dana a call.

If you ever want to put some of those questions you got going on to rest, give Dana a call. I’ll help you out,” Jones tweeted.

Tyson Fury Invited Jon Jones into the Squared Circle Where He Runs the Show

Unsurprisingly, Tyson Fury chimed in once again, responding to Jon Jones’ response. Fury, like Jones, showed respect for the skills of his target and admitted that he is not a cage fighter, squashing any misguided hopes of seeing the two scrap inside the Octagon. However, if Jon Jones is ever looking to test his skill set in the sweet science, there’s only one man ‘Bones’ needs to call.

“I see Jon Jones has piped up,” Fury said. “Jon, you talk about being in a cage, I’m not a cage fighter, mate. I’m a boxer — the best boxer, actually. So if you want to come into a boxing ring and fight me, be my guest. Let me know. You don’t have to call anybody else, you call me because it’s a boxing fight and I’m the boss in this game.

“You’re a great fighter, Jon, but you’re no boxer, that’s for sure. All the best, good luck.”

Jon Jones found Fury’s response nothing short of humorous after his “no man born from a mother” comment seemingly went out the window upon the suggestion of their meeting inside the Octagon.

“Yesterday, Tyson says, “no man born from a mother can beat me”, today he says “Jon can never beat me in a boxing ring”. Yeah I’m glad we got that clarified. You just switched your beat up faster than Travis Barker, impressive.”

Heavyweight boxing superstar Tyson Fury absolutely ripped into Joe Rogan after the popular podcaster suggested Jon Jones would easily handle him in a fight.

‘The Gypsy King’ had his sights set on defending his WBC title this July, but after talks with Oleksandr Usyk, Andy Ruiz, and Zheili Zhang seemingly fell through, Tyson Fury is currently at a standstill. With some free time on his hands, Fury decided to spend some of it engaging in a war of words with Joe Rogan.

During a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the former Fear Factor host was adamant that reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones would mop the floor with Tyson Fury in hypothetical fight between the two combat sports icons.

“No one thinks that Tyson Fury can beat Jon Jones in a fight,” Rogan said while talking to comedian Andrew Schulz. “No one thinks that. Tyson doesn’t think that. You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.

“Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer [but] he doesn’t have a f*cking chance in hell of making it out of that room. Zero chance, he would have to catch Jon immediately with one punch and I just don’t see that happening, man. The threat of the takedown looms so large, that shot would come so unexpectedly and when he gets his hands around you, you’d be stunned.”

Getting wind of Joe Rogan’s comments, Tyson Fury delivered a profanity-laced rant directed at the longtime UFC commentator, calling him a “little p*ssy” and a “f*cking bald-headed midget” in a video clip which you can see below:

Jon Jones and Tyson Fury Expected to Make Their Respective Returns This Winter

Of course, Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury is a fight that we’re 99.9% certain you will never see in any way, shape, or form. Still, fans have often entertained themselves by debating fantasy matchups, similar to the never-ending debate surrounding NBA greats Michael Jordan and Lebron James.

After scoring a quick submission over top heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, Jon Jones has turned his attention toward a showdown with general consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic. Initially slated for the promotion’s annual International Fight Week in July, Jones vs. Miocic is now tipped to headline a November event at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

As for Tyson Fury, the desire to defend his title in a summertime setting may be lost, but recent reports suggest that he could feature on a December card in Saudi Arabia alongside a heavily rumor heavyweight clash between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
