While the boxing world remains highly anticipated for an Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury showdown, it turns out the pair have locked horns already.

That’s according to unified heavyweight champion Joshua who revealed that he had sparred with the WBC king in 2010 back when he was an amateur.

“This was early on when I was an amateur and I didn’t know who Tyson was,” Joshua told Sky Sports (via The Sun). “I was reading in Boxing News he was going around London gyms asking if anyone knocks him out they get to keep his Rolex.

“Me and him had a straight war. We both have heart. I didn’t get to knock him out. He said afterwards ‘Watch out for this kid, he will be champion of the world one day’. And he got his prediction right.”

10 years on and the duo could compete in what would undoubtedly be the biggest heavyweight fight, at least in recent years.

Joshua won back his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles following his unanimous decision win over Andy Ruiz Jr. in December. Fury, meanwhile, became the WBC champion after handing Deontay Wilder his first-ever defeat when he TKO’d him back in February.

A title unification fight was what everyone wanted soon after; however, Wilder invoked his rematch clause with the trilogy now set for October. Joshua, meanwhile, was set to face Kubrat Pulev in June.

However, if the coronavirus pandemic continues throughout the summer, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn wants to explore the option of making Wilder wait and just go ahead with the title unification fight:

“I think when you look at AJ, I think very much it’s a thought that’s crossed my mind. We’ve got June 20 as a pencilled date for Anthony Joshua,” Hearn said. “We will make a statement potentially this week, or maybe early next week, that’s likely to be delayed. I think that’s pretty straightforward and obvious. Hopefully until the end of July.

“But if it starts kicking on beyond that, then you get to a situation where if Joshua is only going to box once this year, he would very much like that to be against Tyson Fury. The situation is a little bit out of our hands in that, if Bob Arum and Al Haymon can talk and make Deontay Wilder wait a little bit, we would absolutely love to go into that fight next.”

Tyson Fury is itching for the trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

Fury became the new WBC heavyweight champion following a seventh-round TKO win over Wilder in their rematch last month. A third meeting was booked between the pair soon after with Wilder invoking his contractual rematch clause.

It was initially set to take place July 18. However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it is now postponed until October at the very least. And Fury is getting restless as he wants nothing more than to outclass the American once again once the world returns to normal:

“I’ll be obliged to give him a bit more, you never get bored of beating Deontay Wilder up, it’s just one of those things you take great pride in doing,” Fury said on Good Morning Britain when asked (via the Daily Mail). “I really did what I said I was going to do. Not many people in boxing say something then do exactly what they said they were going to do.

“So I was quite proud of the performance and I’m really looking forward to getting all this coronavirus out of the way and getting the world back on track and getting back to my job.”

Fury and Wilder’s first meeting ended in a controversial split decision draw. Despite Fury getting knocked down twice, many felt he deserved to win after outboxing Wilder for majority of the fight.

The rematch last month was more definitive with Fury knocking Wilder down twice before overwhelming him with strikes in the seventh round.

Hopefully, things will have calmed down by October and we also get a definitive end to the trilogy.

Tyson Fury got quite the response when he kicked his children out of a workout which was being streamed live on social media.

The WBC heavyweight champion previously promised to post daily workout videos after urging his fellow Brits to stay indoors to help combat the coronavirus, he said.

“I’d
just like to say. I hope everybody is keeping well and staying safe and staying
indoors and not going out spreading the virus. After listening to what the
Prime minister said, I’ve took it deadly serious, as should you. Let’s fight
this virus together as a nation, as a family, as a team, and do the best we can
to help others not get the virus. Stay indoors! It’s very, very important to
listen to Boris (Johnson) – stay indoors! I’ve had a person bring the gym over
to me today. I’ve got a running machine here, weights, a few free weights. I’m
going to keep fit, and I’m going to post daily videos of myself training to
keep you going, keep me going. Without the gym, I’m finished. God bless. Stay
safe. Stay indoors.”

A man of his word Fury has been doing just that – with hilarious results. In one particular video he tells his children to move out the way and stop interrupting his workout, he says. “Get out of my way! Hello? I’m working out here! Get out, all of you, go play on computers or outside, you’re under my feet!”

As they run out of the room you can hear one child shout “f*ck you” and the heavyweight champion can’t help but laugh. However, the kid wasn’t done there and shouted more expletives at his dad. F**k you, pr**k, he said.

At this point mum, Paris Fury stormed out the room to discipline the children whilst dad Tyson cracked on with his workout with a huge grin on his face – check out the video below.
