If we had to take a wild guess, we’d bet that the dudes from the American Kickboxing Academy have no problem being brutally honest with each other. Something about that particular facility’s blend of top-level MMA training and high concentration of amateur wrestlers leads us to believe this team as a whole will probably let you know when you need to clip your toenails, if the girl you’re dating ain’t all that or if you come to the gym wearing a faggy T-shirt. For that reason, we were not at all surprised that when MMA Junkie asked Javier Mendez this week about Josh Koscheck’s UFC 124 loss to Georges St. Pierre, the AKA trainer didn’t mince words.

"Josh fought crappy," Mendez told the Junkie. "He knows it. If we told him he fought great, we’d be lying. He didn’t do anything what he was supposed to do.”

Following another dominant effort in another barely competitive title defense at UFC 124, The MMA Wrap-Up returns to look at how this most recent win will alter fans’ perception of UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Somewhere in there we also find time to wonder whether finishing fights is really as vital as it’s made out to be, and what makes something an internet meme, anyway?

All that, plus some awkward staring. How could you possibly allow yourself to miss that?

If you were blitzed out of your mind on Zima Saturday night at Dave and Buster’s and you couldn’t wrap your head around how two solid black belts like Dustin Hazelett and Charles Oliveira were seemingly effortlessly submitted within the first three minutes of their respective UFC 124 lightweight bouts, the video above should shed some light on the subject for you.

As part of their ongoing "Gracie Breakdown" series, Rener and Ryron Gracie sat down and dissected how Mark Bocek set up the triangle-armlock he tapped Hazelett out with and the ankle lock-to-kneebar transition Jim Miller used to submit Oliveira with to hand the up-and-coming Brazilian his first MMA loss.

They also outline how both losers could have potentially defended and escaped the submissions.

Despite going five full rounds in another successful title defense at UFC 124 on Saturday night, UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre isn’t taking time off to savor the win. According to head trainer Firas Zahabi, St. Pierre is in New York this week to continue his training just days after defeating Josh Koscheck via unanimous decision in Montreal.

“We love the sport, we love what we do. Georges loves the sport. It’s on our mind 24 hours a day,” Zahabi explained to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.

“This is a vacation for him. This is a pleasure. It’s not going to be training like we’re training for a fight. It’s not close to a fight, so training’s going to be more pleasurable and more cerebral, maybe a little less physical since his body does need to rest. But it’s still going to be physical and it’s true enjoyment.”

Koscheck suffered a broken orbital and was driven to Boston, Massachusetts by his training partner, Bob Cook to have surgery. Koscheck’s pre-fight plans of flying out of Montreal early Sunday were foiled by Georges St. Pierre’s first round punch to Koscheck’s eye and the subsequent repeated jabs that lasted over 4 and a half rounds. It was determined that an air pocket formed behind the eye, therefore making it unsafe for Koscheck to get on an airplane. Josh Koscheck was humbled by the entire experience in the cage, offering GSP a lengthy hug and words [we can assume] of respect after the punishment he was given.
