Gotta admit, those “I’m Expect Jesus, Bro, Every Day” bumper stickers we had printed up a few months ago aren’t exactly flying off the shelves like we hoped they might. Nonetheless, UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort isn’t letting that rattle his unwavering faith that a higher power will lead him to the gold at UFC 126. Belfort may be in direct violation of a CagePotato ban on invoking the help of the savior in MMA competition, but it’s hard not to like his enthusiasm in this prefight hype video from UFC.com, when he discusses his strategy against Anderson Silva.

“I think every day that I’m gonna win the fight, that I’m gonna push the pace,” Belfort says. “I have to look for the opening, look for the gap and if it goes to the ground I have to look for the submission. If we’re (standing) I have to look in his eyes and know I’m gonna beat him. He’s the champion and I’m the challenger, it’s gonna be a lion facing a lion. It’s gonna be a great, great fight. I’m on a journey right now, I’m about to accomplish my journey. In the name of Jesus, I’m gonna leave there with a victory, for sure."

CagePotato scored an exclusive interview with Anderson Silva in English! It sounds like a major coup, but actually looks more stressful for host, Brian D’Souza as he struggles to understand Silva’s answers to his questions. Silva does come across extremely humble and says he believes BJ Penn is the best fighter in the world. Silva gives much respect to Georges St. Pierre and expresses his happiness with his Team Noguiera, whom he calls his family. Definitely worth a watch. Video below:

As the rumors and confirmations swirl online, 2011 is shaping up for the UFC with about 3 or 4 fights expected in March. Today we were given the official fight card for UFC 125 which takes place on the very first day of the new year, headlined by Lightweight Champion, Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. Moving on to February 5th, we will see another title on the line as Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva goes head-to-head with contender, Vitor Belfort at UFC 126. We close out the month with UFC 127 headlined by Jon Fitch and BJ Penn’s Welterweight battle at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. Then somewhere in March we start a little UFC traffic jam with UFC on Versus 3 expected to be held March 3rd and headlined by another Welterweight tilt, Martin Kampmann vs Diego Sanchez. Rumors are now circulating that Frank Mir and Brendan Schaub could face each other on this card or perhaps they will meet on the UFC 129 card taking place in Newark, New Jersey on March 19th and expected to be headlined by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Rashad Evans…Oh! But wait…What about UFC 128? That will have to happen somewhere in March, as well to keep sequence. And now we are hearing talks of UFC 131 going down in Toronto, Ontario which would be headlined by none other than “Canada’s Most Famous Athlete” Georges St. Pierre as he picks through another Welterweight titleshot contender, Jake Shields on April 30th… But before that, UFC 130 will have to take place; unfortunately, no rumors have begun for that one just yet…Anyone want to throw in Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva or Miguel Torres vs Urijah Faber or even bring the newly retired via social media outlets, Randy Couture to fill in those slots? To be continued….

Ryan Bader walked into the UFC with big hopes of his own to go with the expectations of others who saw a diamond in the rough. The former collegiate wrestling All-American has steadily improved and risen up the UFC light-heavyweight depth chart, first winning The Ultimate Fighter’s season eight, before embarking on an octagon career that’s seen him go 5-0, with big wins over Keith Jardine, and most recently, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

That victory put him on a collision course with another rising star, Jon Jones. The two will meet at UFC 126 in February 2011, and because the two are likely to be in the championship picture for years to come, it seems to be the type of matchup that at best might ignite a longtime rivalry, and at worst will launch one of the two squarely towards top contender status.

DETROIT — After suffering through bruised ribs that affected his last week of training camp, a subsequent fight against Chael Sonnen, and lingered on for months afterward, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has resumed training in the last 10 days in preparation of his UFC 126 title defense against Vitor Belfort, his manager Ed Soares told MMA Fighting.

Soares said that after a few attempts at resuming training were ultimately aborted, Silva is finally at 100 percent and back in the gym in earnest.
