UFC 162 is almost upon us. At the conclusion of the fight card, the promotion will either have a new middleweight champion or a new record for consecutive title defenses.
The man looking to pull off the upset win, Chris Weidman, has not lost in nine professional bouts. The champion, Anderson Silva, has not lost as a member of the UFC, putting together a record of 16-0, with 10 of those fights being in defense of the UFC crown he won in his second bout with the promotion.
The co-main event will match former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar against Charles Oliveira in a featherweight contest. It will be Edgar’s first non-title fight since 2009.
The other three fights on the main card will also have an effect on the promotion. The eight fighters competing in these bouts will all be looking to make moves in the top 10 of their respective divisions.
At the conclusion of the fight card, which begins at 7 p.m. ET, several fighters will join UFC president Dana White for the post-fight press conference, which can be viewed live right here.

If you’re looking for ways to catch UFC 162 on Saturday night, you’ve come to the right place. The UFC always has a plethora of viewing options and networks broadcasting all or some portion of their events.
Saturday night’s event from Las Vegas is no exception. Here’s a breakdown of how you can watch each stage of UFC 162.
Now that you know how to watch the event, here’s a few things to watch for over the course of the night.
Frankie Edgar Needs a Win…Badly
Although each of the decisions in Edgar’s last three fights could have gone either way, the official result was a loss for the 31-year-old former lightweight champion.
Facing the possibility of a four-fight losing streak, Edgar needs to stop his skid. He won’t be facing a pound-for-pound top-five fighter on Saturday night, but Charles Oliveira is still a dangerous opponent.
His height and submission prowess could be a tough test for Edgar.
A Gracie Fights in an UFC Event
The Gracie name is like a royalty in MMA. With the UFC being the premier fighting promotion in the world, anytime a Gracie competes in an UFC event, it is a noteworthy occurrence. Roger Gracie will take on Tim Kennedy on Saturday as part of the main card.
Gracie has a five-inch height advantage, but Kennedy’s power and explosion could create issues for Gracie. The latter has never been especially good on his feet and Kennedy would be smart to try and keep the fight standing.
Can The Spider Reign Supreme Again?
UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva has a fairly tough test on his hands with Chris Weidman. The challenger doesn’t have the experience Silva has, but he’s a very strong wrestler and a good enough athlete to conduct himself respectably as a striker.
This fight will either signal the end of a historic reign as champion for Silva or be just another example of why he’s considered by many to be the greatest of all time.

UFC 162 culminates Saturday night when Anderson Silva defends his middleweight title against Chris Weidman.
But Silva’s not the only champion in action.
The co-main event features former UFC lightweight belt holderFrankie Edgar, who will fight for just the second time since dropping down to the featherweight division.
In his debut, Edgar dropped a well-fought decision to champion Jose Aldo. As such, he is now a loser in three straight, though all three were title bouts. Saturday night, he’ll participate in a non-title match for the first time in more than three years when he faces 23-year-old young buck Charles Oliveira.
Here’s a round-by-round recap of the co-main event action as it unfolds from Las Vegas.

Weidman earned his shot at Silva by going undefeated in his five UFC appearances. Despite his relative inexperience in comparison to the champion, Weidman is believed by many to possess the skills necessary to dethrone Silva.
In addition to the middleweight championship, former lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar will return to the Octagon and attempt to pick up his first featherweight victory against Charles Oliveira. Another important 145-pound bout between Cub Swanson and Dennis Siver will also be featured on the main card.
Furthermore, Strikeforce middleweights Tim Kennedy and Roger Gracie will make their UFC debuts, while fellow 185-pound fighters Mark Munoz and Tim Boetsch attempt to take a step closer to a shot at the winner of Saturday’s main event.

UFC 162 will kick off in a few hours from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the fight card will be a middleweight title bout between champion Anderson Silva and top ranked contender Chris Weidman. The evening’s co-main event will see former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar meeting Charles Oliveira in a featherweight contest.
Three hours before those bouts begin, the UFC will stream two preliminary fights for free. Those bouts will both take place in the welterweight division.
First to the Octagon will be David Mitchell versus Mike Pierce. That bout will be followed by a scrap between Seth Baczynski and Brian Melancon.
Pierce (16-5) has quietly put together a three-fight winning streak since his last loss, a split decision defeat at the hands of Josh Koscheck. Mitchell (12-2) saw a two-fight losing streak come to a halt in his last bout, a unanimous decision win over Simeon Thoresen.
Baczynski (18-9) was on a six-fight winning streak before he dropped a unanimous decision to Pierce in December 2012. Melancon (6-2) will be making his UFC debut after going 1-1 with Strikeforce.
The two fights will begin streaming at 7 p.m. ET / 4 PT.
