Conor McGregor was recently fined $75,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for his role in the bottle throwing incident at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference prior to his rematch with Nate Diaz, which he ultimately won via unanimous decision. The “Notorious” one essentially launched two Monster energy cans as well as a few water bottles at Diaz and his team, while the Stockton native returned fire.

While McGregor undoubtedly won’t have a problem paying the fine, it looks as if he may use the cans he threw to get the job done. The reigning 145-pound king took to his official Instagram account to announce that he was selling the two cans at $75,000 a piece:

McGregor is next scheduled to challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from the famed Madison Square Garden in hopes of becoming the first man in promotional history to hold two titles at one time.

Conor McGregor’s outlandish actions may finally be catching up to him.

The reigning UFC featherweight champion is set to challenge lightweight titleholder Eddie Alvarez in the main event of Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from the famed Madison Square Garden in New York, but he has yet to be licensed to fight in the state despite the card being just weeks away.

McGregor recently received a $75,000 fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) due to his roll in the bottle throwing incident with Nate Diaz at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference. McGregor then taunted the commission, implying that he wasn’t going to pay the fine, something the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) is ‘closely monitoring’, per MMAFighting:

“The New York State Athletic Commission is aware of the Order issued by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Conor McGregor has not yet completed his application to the New York State Athletic Commission for a license, nor, to our knowledge, has he agreed to the fine levied by Nevada or exercised an appeal. It is also our understanding that the time within which Mr. McGregor may seek a legal challenge to the Nevada Order has not yet expired. An administrative fine without a concurrent suspension is not a mandatory bar to licensure. The New York State Athletic Commission expects its licensees to resolve disciplinary actions and comply with lawful final orders issued by the states in which they have chosen to compete, and will be closely monitoring this matter.”

After receiving the fine, the “Notorious” one told UFC President Dana White that he no longer had any interest in competing in the state of Nevada, and that New York and Ireland were fine for him, but his actions in Las Vegas may affect these plans.

Do you expect the 145-pound kingpin to sort out his issues with the New York commission before he attempts to make history next month?

ESPN’s Brett Okamota detailed the hearing via his official Twitter account:

After Diaz got up and left the press conference with his team, the two sides exchanged words before bottles and cans began to fly across the room. The Stockton native has yet to receive a punishment from the commission.

An interesting thing to note is that McGregor was present at the hearing via phone after a rumor surfaced earlier today that he had been ‘knocked out cold’ during a sparring session leading up to his November 12, 2016 lightweight title fight with Eddie Alvarez.

The biggest test of Conor McGregor’s UFC career will come this Saturday August 20. ‘The Notorious’ will take on Nate Diaz in the UFC 202 main event with a rich story underlying the rematch. It all started 11 days out from UFC 196 when Diaz was announced as Rafael dos Anjos’ replacement. Although the bout would take place at welterweight, the Irishman was still heavily favoured to win. Once again the odds were cast aside on fight night.

Diaz stunned the mixed martial arts world with a submission victory inside two rounds. McGregor’s first ever UFC loss would lead to an immediate rematch being booked, but the tale would only get stranger. Sensing his expansion in to the mainstream, arguably at a greater rate than the promotion, ‘The Notorious’ would get himself removed from UFC 200.

UFC: The Time Is Now

Status

Rivalries with the WWE roster and boxing great Floyd Mayweather highlighted McGregor’s celebrity status. His biggest hurdle is still yet to be crossed though, and the hype behind the rematch with Nate Diaz seemed a little quiet. There weren’t nearly as many confrontations as before UFC 196, until last night. The August 17 UFC 202 pre-fight press conference exploded in to a frenzy of thrown cans and bottles and was cut short by UFC president Dana White.

McGregor told Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier on UFC Tonight how he saw the now infamous ruckus:
“I saw panicking in the stands, I thought they may have been dehydrated, so I was simply launching up some rehydration. I don’t know what happened, it was just handbags. I’m fully prepared to go the distance with this man, I’m confident in my Jiu-jitsu. I had an army style approach to this fight, a very scientific approach to my cardio. I’m confident in my grappling.”

“In the first fight, before he landed that left and my tank emptied, I was dominating the grappling. He caught my kick and took me down but I swept him, I feel I won the grappling exchanges against the fences too. There’s no denying it took skill (from Diaz) but my tank was empty.

With only two days left to wait, UFC 202 is being forecast as the biggest pay-per-view draw of all-time. UFC president Dana White also recently revealed their last fight had broken the record set by UFC 100. UFC 200 however, McGregor is probably right in saying it ‘tanked’ in comparison.

Stay tuned!

The fourth episode of the UFC 202 Embedded series dropped earlier today (August 18, 2016) as the event is now just two days away.

Headliner Nate Diaz finished up some of his promotional requirements including photo shoots and autograph signings ahead of his main event rematch with outspoken Irishman Conor McGregor, who worked his grappling and boxing in Las Vegas in hopes of getting the better of Diaz this time around.

The fighters then attended the pre-fight press conference which quickly turned into madness, as Diaz ended up walking out before bottles were thrown between Team Diaz and Team McGregor.

Nate Diaz Says ‘Silly’ Conor McGregor ‘Remembers What Happened Last Time’

Prior to the madness that occurred at today’s (August 17, 2016) UFC 202 press conference in Las Vegas, Nate Diaz actually took the time to answer questions from the media ahead of his massive rematch with 145-pound champion Conor McGregor this Saturday night (August 20, 2016). One question Diaz received regarded McGregor’s prediction that he would knock the Stockton native out in the second round of their rematch. Diaz, however, recalled that McGregor said he would end the first fight in the opening round only to be submitted by Diaz in the second frame.

The younger Diaz brother went on to call McGregor ‘silly’, saying that the Irishman ‘remembers what happened the last fight’:

“That’s what he said last time,” Diaz said about McGregor’s prediction at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference.  “I think he’s got a lot of people around him and he’s trying to pump himself up. He’s either lying to himself or to go on about his confidence or to make himself believe it but he remembers what happened the last fight.

 “I think it’s a little silly.”

The No. 5-ranked lightweight contender also spoke on McGregor’s personalized private gym in Las Vegas where he has spent the majority of his preparation for the rematch. McGregor decorated his gym with huge portraits of his best moments from the first fight when he was landing big shots on Diaz, something the Stockton native finds a bit strange. Diaz also feels as if McGregor is attempting to ‘hype’ himself up:

“He’s got pictures of me up in his garage of him punching me in the face. What the (expletive)? Who does that?” Diaz stated. “Trying to make yourself believe something. I think he’s trying to hype his own self up.”
