Conor McGregor was recently fined $75,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for his role in the bottle throwing incident at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference prior to his rematch with Nate Diaz, which he ultimately won via unanimous decision. The “Notorious” one essentially launched two Monster energy cans as well as a few water bottles at Diaz and his team, while the Stockton native returned fire.

While McGregor undoubtedly won’t have a problem paying the fine, it looks as if he may use the cans he threw to get the job done. The reigning 145-pound king took to his official Instagram account to announce that he was selling the two cans at $75,000 a piece:

McGregor is next scheduled to challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from the famed Madison Square Garden in hopes of becoming the first man in promotional history to hold two titles at one time.

This week, UFC released a new list of what they rank as the top ten events in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Out of the ten shows selected as the best in company-history, a list that covers over 20 years of territory that dates back to the innaugural UFC 1: The Beginning event that took place on November 12, 1993, a show that took place just two months ago was chosen as the greatest of all-time by the company in the list that was published on the official UFC website as a promotional piece for the upcoming UFC 205 event.

The show, which ironically enough takes place on the same November 12th date as the first UFC event ever, features a “Champion versus Champion” main event between 145-pound title-holder Conor McGregor and 155-pound title-holder Eddie Alvarez as the introductary event in New York hosted at the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena.

The UFC 202 event that took place on August 20, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was named the number one show in UFC history. The show featured the highly-anticipated 170-pound immediate rematch between UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and the first man to defeat him inside UFC’s world-famous Octagon, Nate Diaz.

The Irish mega-star known as “The Notorious” would go on to beat the Stockton, California native in one of the most thrilling main events ever, avenging his only UFC defeat and setting the number one all-time record for biggest reported fight purse in promotional history at three-million dollars.

Below is the write-up included in the UFC.com article, as well as the complete list of the top ten events in UFC history.

No list of the biggest events in UFC history would be complete without UFC 202.

After their first fight came together quickly and burned hot for two weeks straight, the rematch between McGregor and Nathan Diaz had a slow, steady build that reached a fever pitch by the time the two hit the Octagon to close out this show. McGregor got a measure of revenge, winning a unanimous decision over his rival from Stockton and the fans got a second outstanding fight from the two gutsy competitors.

They also got Anthony Johnson showing off his scary power with a 13-second knockout of Glover Teixeira, who previously hadn’t been finished in over a decade, Donald Cerrone going Street Fighter II on Rick Story, Cody “No Love” starching Takeya Mizugaki and calling out Dominick Cruz as the bantamweight champion watched from the broadcast booth and plenty more.

10. UFC 1 – November 12, 1993 (Royce Gracie vs. Gerard Gordeau)
9. UFC 31 – May 4, 2001 (Randy Couture vs. Pedro Rizzo 2)

Following two years where she had high-profile episodes with UFC stars Nick Diaz and Conor McGregor, Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) chair Pat Lundvall’s run with the NAC is coming to an end.

She confirmed that she had been contacted by the governor’s office this Thursday and told she would not be re-appointed to MMA Fighting today. According to the report, Lundvall’s last day will be October 31. She informed her colleagues of the news in an email on Friday, issuing the following statement:

“I have served three terms for a total of nine years with the NAC. I considered every minute of it as a privilege and an honor.”

The inaugural woman to be elected chair of the NAC, Lundvall had served the commission for nine years dating back to her appointment by Governor Jim Gibbons. Yet Lundvall was known far more for her high-profile battles with Diaz and McGregor rather than any trailblazing she did in that regard, and it would be tough to imagine those episodes didn’t at least play a part in the decision to not re-appoint her.

Speculation aside, Lundvall’s hearing war with Diaz incited outrage throughout the entire MMA universe last year when she motioned for the outspoken Stockton slugger to be suspended for life after he repeatedly plead the Fifth Amendment in a hearing surrounding his third test failure for marijuana metabolites during his UFC 183 loss to Anderson Silva. Lundvall then motioned for Diaz to be suspended for five years, which was accepted by the commission.

Countless fans and Diaz’ legal team believed the commission had not given Diaz a fair decision regarding the testing, as one of the tests supposedly contains a very large numbers of marijuana metabolites while Diaz passed two other tests at a completely different laboratory. Interestingly enough, Diaz later settled on a year-and-a-half suspension, which expired in August.

Lundvall’s attention-grabbing time in the spotlight didn’t end there, however, as she once again attempted to bring down the hammer on featherweight champion Conor McGregor for his bottle and can-throwing melee at a pre-fight presser for his UFC 202 rematch against Nick’s brother Nate Diaz. Her first motion was to fine McGregor a lofty 10 percent of his record $3 million purse, a punishment that was reduced to a $75,000 fine and a public service announcement that will cost $75,000.

‘The Notorious’ certainly didn’t take to the sanctions kindly, wishing the NAC ‘good luck trying to get it’ from him and expressing a desire to not longer fight in Nevada. With McGregor one of the state’s biggest cash machines and Lundvall drawing negative pub from the media and fans, it may not be a surprise she wasn’t re-appointed.

It’s been nearly two months since the epic battle that occurred inside the Octagon between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz concluded, and fans are already clamoring for when the third and final chapter of the rivalry will go down.

The two brash rivals first met at UFC 196 where Diaz was a late notice replacement for then-lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Diaz would go on to submit the Irish featherweight champ in the second round of that bout after McGregor had exerted his energy through the first eight minutes of the contest.

McGregor, who was obsessed with avenging his first loss in nearly six years, got his rematch with Diaz at UFC 202 in which the two spent 25-minutes in an absolute war in the center of the T-Mobile Arena. When it was all said and done it was ‘The Notorious One’ who’s hand was raised for the majority decision win.

With each man now holding a win over the other, a third and final contest has been discussed between the two to determine who the better fighter really is. In McGregor’s post-fight interview he demanded the contest to be on his terms at 155-pounds, where he will challenge for the weight class’ title next month:

Diaz took to social media earlier today (October 16, 2016) to fire some shots at his adversary, who stated he was prepared for the third installment of their rivalry that very night:

“I was ready for round 3 that nite were you ?”

I was ready for round 3 that nite were you ? ????

If McGregor is able to emerge victorious come fight night in New York for the lightweight title, could the third and final bout between the two be for the 155-pound title?

McGregor will meet Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 for the lightweight title live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.
