Stefan Struve has faced his fair share of hardships over the last few years.

In 2013, the man dubbed “Skyscraper” had reported that he was suffering from a leaking aortic valve and an enlarged heart, a condition that put his fighting future in jeopardy.

Fortunately, he received clearance to return to the Octagon, and he was set to face Matt Mitrione at July 2014’s UFC 175, but he was forced to withdraw on fight night after fainting in his locker room. When he finally made his return at UFC on FOX 13 in December 2014, Struve was knocked out in the first round by Alistair Overeem.

In the time since, however, Struve has seen more success. He’s won three of his last four bouts, and is currently riding a two fight win streak over the likes of Antonio Silva and Daniel Omielaczuk with both of those victories coming by way of stoppage. The No. 12-ranked Struve now feels like he’s ready for a step up in competition and he has an opponent in mind:

“December or January makes sense for me for sure, depending on the fight the UFC wants to give me,” Struve told “Toe-2-Toe with Brian Stann”. “I looked at the rankings with my coaches and my manager, and one of the first names that comes up to me is Josh Barnett, who is also coming off a win.”

Barnett, a former UFC heavyweight champion, is currently ranked No. 6 in the division, and is coming off of an impressive submission victory over Andrei Arlovski. Being that “The Warmaster” is ranked higher than Struve, “Skyscraper” feels as if the bout makes sense:

“He’s ranked higher than me,” he told Stann. “I think a win over him would definitely bring me closer to my goal of fighting for the title.

“He came off a really interesting fight with Arlovski, and I’d love to have that fight.”

Would you like to see these two heavyweights face off?

UFC 204 went down this past weekend from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, and produced what was probably the UK’s best MMA card in history.

Now we look forward to play matchmaking and examine five fights to make following Michael Bisping’s first title defense.

1. Marc Diakiese vs. Diego Sanchez

Diakiese (10-0) got his UFC career off to a flying start in Manchester, winning by TKO in the second round. The 23 year-old is exciting to watch, reminiscent of a young Jon Jones with explosive power and unorthodox attacks.

Sanchez, a household name in MMA, is expected to face UFC newcomer Marcin Held at the TUF: Latin America 3 Finale in November. Should he get past the Bellator vet, a fight with Diakiese would make a whole lot of sense.

Style wise they match up pretty perfect, both primarily strikers who love to stand-and-bang and the story of the newcomer vs the veteran would make for an interesting fight indeed.

Michael Bisping Fires Back At ‘Douchebag’ Chris Weidman

No. 2-ranked former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman recently called Michael Bisping’s UFC 204 title defense against Dan Henderson ‘embarrassing’. No. 2-ranked former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman recently called Michael Bisping’s UFC 204 title defense against Dan Henderson ‘embarrassing’.

Weidman and Bisping have gone back and forth in the media throughout the last few months, and the ex-champion, who hasn’t competed since surrendering his title to Luke Rockhold last December, has accused “The Count” of ducking him. Appearing on a recent edition of the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Bisping fired back at Weidman, calling the New York native a ‘douchebag’:

“I mean of that f*cking whiner, that cry baby Chris Weidman wants to do it, then I’m more than happy to do it,” Bisping said. “If he gets past Yoel Romero next month, let’s do it soon. I’m happy to. He thinks I’m ducking him, he’s f*cking crazy. I’ve never ducked anybody in my life, I’m certainly not going to start with that f*cking douchebag.”

Not only is the Brit open to a fight with Weidman, but he feels as if he’d finish the former collegiate wrestler if the two ever meet:

“So, if he wants to do it, he can come out here and he can try to wrestle and do that, but he’ll find himself getting punched in the face repeatedly, then…I’m going to finish Chris Weidman that’s for sure.”

This potential clash could end up taking place sooner rather than later, as Weidman is set to face off with No. 4-ranked Yoel Romero at November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York with the winner possibly receiving the next shot at the title.

If Bisping and Weidman do end up fighting, who would you pick to come out on top?

According to Dave Meltzer, the prelim ratings for UFC 204 did not do so hot.

Meltzer reports that the show was watched by 678,000 viewers, making it the lowest of the calendar year.

UFC 204’s prelims, which aired live this past Saturday night on FOX Sports 1, peaked at 837,000 viewers for the Damian Stasiak-Davey Grant fight.

The number was 39-percent below the average.

Of course, the card went up against a tough slate of live sports action, as college football aired on ESPN, CBS, NBC and FOX, along with the MLB Network presentation of the San Francisco Giants-Chicago Cubs postseason game, which was watched by over 4.6 million.

The UFC average this year for prelims has been over 1.1 million viewers.

Michael Bisping & Tony Ferguson Exchange Words On Twitter

After what must have felt like an eternity to Michael Bisping, he was finally able to avenge his stinging defeat to Dan Henderson at UFC 204 last Saturday night (October 8, 2016). Although Bisping won the fight via unanimous decision, a good number of onlookers thought that Henderson should have had his arm raised as the winner.

It’s hardly a surprise, though; just take a look at the Englishmen’s face after the bout – it looks as if he had been put through a meat grinder. In the first round, ‘Hendo’ was able to land a hellacious overhand right, dubbed the ‘H-Bomb’, which caused Bisping to fall to the canvas which created a nasty gash under Bisping’s left eye. Henderson would later catch him again with another ‘H-Bomb’, this time in the second round, staggering the champion and sending him to the canvas yet again.

During his post-fight speech, Henderson said that he believes that he should have won the fight, if only fights were not judged in the manner of which they currently are.

Henderson’s statement caught the attention of the No. 3-ranked lightweight contender Tony Ferguson, who took to Twitter with a message of idolization for the former Pride Champion. Of course it was not taken well by Bisping, which lead to a brief verbal exchange from the two:

Unless both men decide to make compromises given the obvious difference in weight, this small exchange between the ‘The Count’ and ‘El Cucuy’ will most likely stay put on social media.

Ferguson will take on Rafael Dos Anjos in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 (TUF Latin America 3), live on FS1 from the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico on November 5, 2016.
