UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is coming of of an impressive decision victory over rival Claudia Gadelha on July 8, 2016, and she will next defend her title against fellow undefeated Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz at November 12’s UFC 205 from New York.

While she had hoped that the fight would take place in Poland, the champion is excited to compete at Madison Square Garden, and she expects to be a ‘different fighter’ than she was in July:

“I feel I am going to be a different fighter than I was in the fight against Claudia Gadelha,” Jedrzejczyk said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour. “I don’t want to just swing with Karolina, I want to really, really put on a good show. Because it’s me. I like Karolina, I like all of the crazy things coming up. People want to ask for proof to see who is the best in Poland, but I am the best in the world. I just want to be the best in the world. It’s a very big deal. People want this fight to happen in Poland, but, I am an international champion. Of course I want to fight in Poland for my fans and my family, but maybe next time. Karolina should be happy that we are going to fight at UFC 205.”

Both fighters are undefeated in their professional careers, but “Joanna Champion” actually holds a submission win over Kowalkiewicz in an amateur bout back in 2012. On top of that, Jedrzejczyk claims that her upcoming opponent is ‘fake’ and that she has something to prove next month:

“I met her in a lobby. She was super nice and super cute. She came to me with her coach and they hug me and she was nice. Her problem is that she is a fake person. Before my fight with Gadleha, we shoot commercial for our sponsor, we had a photo shoot together and she was super nice and talking a lot. But, after her fight with Rose, she said a lot of bad things and that’s the reason. She said I’m afraid of her and that I’m going to lose my belt. Come on, let’s be serious. She is fake and I am going to prove to everyone that she is.”

UFC 205 is set to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor. 170-pound champion Tyron Woodley will also defend his title against Stephen Thompson on the card.

Dana White ‘Won’t Do Three’ With McGregor-Diaz

After he gained revenge on bitter rival Nate Diaz in their rematch at UFC 202 on August 20, 2016, featherweight champion Conor McGregor said the two would likely fight for a third time down the road.

But UFC President Dana White said that he was moving away from the rivalry for the time being, and it appears he’s sticking to it, at least for now. Recently speaking on the topic, White once again showed little interest in a third bout between the two stars:

“You can’t do three,” White told Hot 97 in New York. “Here’s the thing, Conor McGregor is this guy where if a fight falls out, this guy will step up. He doesn’t give a (expletive). He’s legitimately that guy. I’ve been on the phone and I’ve stood in the living room many times and looked guys in the face when their opponent pulls out, nobody faces that adversity the way that Conor McGregor does.

“It’s awesome and it makes me respect him very much.”

The two first met at UFC 196 last March in an instant classic that saw Diaz score an emphatic second-round submission victory. The rematch then turned out to be a five-round war in which each fighter had his moments. The “Notorious” one, however, took home a close majority decision victory.

From a business perspective, the rivalry is a lucrative one to say the least, as UFC 202 reportedly broke the all-time pay-per-view (PPV) record that was set by UFC 196. White, however, says a third contest ‘doesn’t make sense’:

“(Conor) ends up saying ‘let’s do this Nate Diaz thing’ and dude he’s two weight classes heavier than you and he doesn’t care. So we do the fight,” White explained. “Conor has to try to weigh 168 when they’re weighing in at 170. The night of the fight, Diaz comes in at 190. Now Conor McGregor is a 45, 55 pound guy and if you look at the wars he’s had with Diaz, you can only have so many of those wars in your career. It doesn’t make sense.

“That’s why we have weight classes. It ended up being an amazing fight, but you don’t want to keep doing that.”

Instead, McGregor will next challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event of November 12’s UFC 205 from New York. Despite this being a blockbuster fight, the UFC has received a bit of criticism for allowing McGregor to call his shots so to say, as the Irishman has yet to defend his featherweight strap that he won last December.
Continuing on, White explained why McGregor gets this ‘special’ treatment:

“That’s why I give this guy way more rope than I give anybody else. Conor can say whatever the hell he wants to, the guy steps up on four days notice, he can say whatever he wants,” White said.

“We’re in the fight game, who really wants to fight? That dude wants to fight.”

Do you approve of McGregor facing Alvarez, and would you like to see him and Diaz run it back one more time in the future?

Chris Weidman Doesn’t Trust Yoel Romero After USADA Violation

Coming off of the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will engage on his quest back to the 185-pound title when he takes on the talented No. 4-ranked Yoel Romero. Coming off of the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will engage on his quest back to the 185-pound title when he takes on the talented No. 4-ranked Yoel Romero.

Romero is coming off of a six-month suspension after failing a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test for the release stimulator and growth hormone ibutamoren.

Prior to his suspension Romero was riding a seven-fight win streak, steadily making his climb to the UFC middleweight championship after his split decision win over Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 194.

Weidman, who has been a big advocate for a cleaner sport, recently spoke to FOX Sports to discuss Romero’s troubled past with USADA, claiming he wouldn’t be surprised if Romero wasn’t still abusing PEDs:

“(Romero) failed while USADA was testing him randomly so he had the balls to take it then along with a lot of other guys. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still taking something, maybe he’s getting smarter with it,” Weidman said.

“Once a guy fails a drug test, I’m never naïve enough to think now he’s clean.”

Leading up to their massive middleweight clash in Weidman’s backyard of New York City, ‘The All American’ is hoping Romero is being thoroughly tested by USADA ahead of UFC 205; and hopes all PED abusers in MMA go clean ‘like a man’:

09_1200_800643003087490791474981423.6325.jpg“I’m really hoping he’s being tested properly leading up to this next fight,” Weidman said. “I heard that they were going to test him, switching up the times, because you hear guys know the times they are going to be tested. Supposedly they are going to come at a bunch of different times so it’s completely random.

“So if these guys are taking stuff it’s a really risky thing. I hope they all get caught, every single one of them gets busted taking something. Hopefully the guys who were on stuff, they become pros and come off stuff and fight like a man like everybody else.”

It’s hard for the former middleweight king to trust past abusers, who Weidman isn’t sure how far will go to preserve their ability to get an upper edge on the competition when they step into the Octagon:

“I just don’t trust anything,” Weidman said. “I don’t know if these guys got doctors and they’re getting their bloodwork checked everyday. I don’t what lengths they’re willing to go to.

If they’ve been on steroids for a long time and they don’t want to come off, what kind of money are they willing to spend? What support they have to figure out ways to beat these drug tests? Buy different drugs that don’t show up on tests?

“I don’t trust any of it.”

Weidman and Romero will clash on the main card of UFC 205 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena on November 12, 2016.

When Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez stared each other down at the first UFC 205 pre-fight press conference recently at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, fans got goosebumps watching the two UFC champions go face-to-face for the first time.

If you ask Alvarez, however, it wasn’t that big of a deal at all compared to past face-offs. In fact, quite the contrary.

The Philadelphia native, who will be putting his UFC Lightweight Championship on the line against the Irish UFC Featherweight Champion at the first-ever UFC event held in the state of New York, told Ariel Helwani during his appearance on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com that he has “never felt so unthreatened” by an opponent before.

“Usually when I square off with a man, my heart rate goes up, I feel something. I never felt so unthreatened by a human being as when I was up on a stage with him. That’s the God’s honest truth. I’ve never felt so unthreatened.”

When pressed to elaborate, Alvarez claimed that compared to the stacked lineup at 155 pounds, McGregor doesn’t possess the same well-rounded skillset or conditioning.

“They have a well-rounded skill set and even if the fight goes to another realm of MMA, from standing up, to ground, to jiu-jitsu, everyone is tough in each one. They’re well versed, to the point where they can hang with some of the toughest guys in the world in any aspect of the sport. And I don’t think [McGregor] can, from what I’ve seen.”

“The conditioning aspect is just not a good level of conditioning. The last Nate Diaz fight was a very big eye opener for me.”

UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor takes place on Saturday, November 12th from the world-famous Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City. Join us here at MMANews.com on 11/12 for live coverage of the pay-per-view!

Conor McGregor Isn’t Enough To Bring Jose Aldo Back To UFC

Former UFC featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo is feeling disrespected after being side-stepped for a shot at ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor to unify the featherweight titles, as McGregor instead will chase the 155-pound title at UFC 205 in hopes of becoming the first dual-weight champion in UFC history.

Shortly after the UFC 205 press conference to present the massive card to mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, Aldo would then request his release from his UFC contract as he claimed he no longer trusted UFC President Dana White and wished to pursue another sport.

Aldo recently spoke to Brazil’s SporTV earlier today (courtesy of MMA Fightingand was asked if a match-up with the Irishman would be enough to get him back inside the Octagon:

“No. Not even that because that would be the right thing to happen,” Aldo said. “This fight is the fight that should happen next in the featherweight division. I conquered that [right] ever since I entered the UFC. I saw other champions losing and fighting right away for the belt. That was the right thing.

“I didn’t fight for the belt. They made me fight for the interim title, I went there and won, and still have no definition whatsoever. To me, not even a fight with McGregor… It’s not about him being fighting now or not. I don’t care where he’s going. I want to follow my path. Today, the right is me getting released from the contract.”

Aldo claims that he not only wants to be done with the UFC but the sport of MMA altogether, and would not be signing with any other promotion if he is released:

“It’s hard for me. If there’s something good [the UFC can do] is release me,” he said. “I don’t want to fight for other promotion. I’m at the level above. There’s no reason why leave the first division to fight at the second division when I’m well appreciated in the first division, it would mean taking a step back.

“I don’t want to fight for other promotion. I want to follow my way in a different sport, do new things. I’m a young guy, and I want to enjoy that side, too.

“A good thing would be if they release me without a fight. I’m not mad at the UFC or no one else. I like Dana, I have a special love for Lorenzo [Fertitta], a guy that always treated me well since I got to the UFC. If there’s something good from this, I hope they release me so I can follow my way and the UFC follows its way.”

With McGregor’s choice to jump to 155-pounds and pursue that title rather than defend the featherweight strap that the Irishman carries so proudly around his shoulder, ‘Scarface’ believes McGregor is scared to face him after seeing his performance against Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 for the interim title:

“Everybody knows he’s scared to fight [me],” Aldo said. “He knows how dangerous I am for him for the fact that my last fight, everybody said that I had a safe performance and if I fight this way I don’t lose to anyone. I’ve seen him in press conferences saying that he would fight with Frankie Edgar but not against me. I think he’s scared.”

While Aldo is looking to make his way out of the UFC, McGregor has a date in the main event of UFC 205 against Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.
