TJ Dillashaw is ready to get his shot at Cody Garbrandt.

The two former teammates’ relationship took a spill following Dillashaw’s departure from Team Alpha Male (TAM), opting to follow former TAM head-coach Duane Ludwig to Colorado. After the former bantamweight champion’s departure some bad blood between Dillashaw and TAM founder Urijah Faber began to take the mixed martial arts (MMA) newswire by storm.

After dropping his title to Dominick Cruz back in January of 2016 Dillashaw has once again found himself in the title picture as he sits at the No. 1-ranked position in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings. Fate will have it, however, that the champion he challenges this time around won’t be Cruz, but instead former TAM teammate Cody Garbrandt.

The pair will collide for the UFC’s bantamweight throne at UFC 213 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 8, 2017. In the lead-up to their bout the two adversaries have been coaching opposite one another on the 25th season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF 25).

Dillashaw recently did an interview with UFC.com (via MMA Mania) to promote the show, and claimed that the season will show Garbrandt’s true colors to the MMA world:

“You definitely learn some new things about his character and who he is,” Dillashaw said. “In my mind, he’s not a very good person — he’s about himself and very selfish, and that also comes across in training. I saw a lot of new things that I’m going to be able to use to my advantage in this training camp and in our fight.

“I don’t feel like he shows anybody any respect,” he continued. “He’s got a chip on his shoulder and I can’t wait to make him pay for it.”

Aside from attempting to regain the bantamweight title and put an abrupt end to ‘No Love’s’ short reign as 135-pound champ, Dillashaw also sees his fight against Garbrandt as an opportunity at redemption against TAM who he feel’s ‘burned’ him:

“I think the redemption theme for me is redemption against my old team (Team Alpha Male), the guys that have kind of burned me, the guys that stabbed me in the back a little bit,” he said. “My redemption is proving them all wrong, showing that I did make the right choice in my life and telling my story.

“Everything’s been in the public eye so much about me moving and following (coach) Duane (Ludwig) out to Colorado,” Dillashaw continued. “But, I don’t feel like the true story has ever been told.”

You can check out the season premiere of TUF 25, appropriately titled TUF: “Redemption”, tonight (Wed. April 19, 2017) at 10 P.M. ET on FS1.

Daniel Cormier defended his light heavyweight title for the second time this past weekend (April 8, 2017) at UFC 210, making a rematch between him and former champion Jon Jones seem like the next fight to make. Jones is currently serving out a USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) suspension, but he will be eligible to fight again in July.

Some have expected the UFC to book the highly anticipated rematch for July 8’s UFC 213, which will take place in Las Vegas during International Fight Week. The only problem, however, is that UFC 213 already has a co-main event and UFC President Dana White doesn’t trust Jon Jones to headline another card given his issues outside of the cage:

“If Jones fights, Jones is going to be a co-main event anyway. There’s already a co-main event on that card,” White said during the post-fight press conference.

“I’d put just about everybody ahead and make them the main event. I just don’t have the faith right now that the fight’s going to happen. I don’t want to spend millions and millions of dollars again promoting a fight that doesn’t happen,” said White.

UFC 213 is currently set to be co-headlined by a bantamweight title fight between 135-pound champion Cody Garbrandt and ex-titleholder TJ Dillashaw. The card does not have a main event set as of now.

Do you agree with White’s stance, or should Jones be given one last chance upon his return?

Earlier this year, it was announced that newly crowned UFC bantamweight champion Cody “No Love” Garbrandt would defend his title for the very first time against bitter rival and former champion TJ Dillashaw after the two coach opposite each other on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The fight now has a date and venue, as UFC President Dana White announced last night that the fight will take place at UFC 213 on July 8, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada during International Fight Week:

“Obviously, Cody and T.J. are already on that card (at UFC 213), so yeah, we’ll see how that goes,” White said.

Garbrandt is coming off of a career defining win over Dominick Cruz at Dec. 30, 2016’s UFC 207 where dominated the ex-champion over the course of five rounds. Prior to that, he had won five straight UFC bouts, with four of those victories coming by way of T/KO.

Dillashaw, on the other hand, has won two straight fights losing his title to Cruz in Jan. 2016. He beat Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200 last July before scoring an impressive decision victory over John Lineker at UFC 207.

UFC 213 currently does not have a main event set.

Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre has a target date.

UFC President Dana White recently joined TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter to discuss the upcoming middleweight title bout between Bisping and St-Pierre, which currently does not have an official date or venue in place, and revealed that the details for the bout will be made official soon.

White said there are a few more steps that need to be taken, but an announcement can be expected within a week or so (quotes via Bloody Elbow):

“I’m anticipating and anxiously waiting for a day, too,” White said. “We’re waiting. There’s some things we have to wait for. I’m assuming probably another week I should have a date.”

“If it’s up to me, it’ll be in Vegas, yes, July 8,” he said.

St-Pierre has not lost a fight in MMA competition since his 2007 first round TKO loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69. The Canadian is currently on a 12-fight win streak and his last fight saw him take home a controversial split decision win over Johny Hendricks in 2013 to defend his then-welterweight title for the ninth consecutive time.

‘GSP’ vacated the 170-pound throne and announced his retirement soon after, but fast-forward nearly four years later and ‘Rush’ is ready to make his return.

He’ll be challenging UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping for the 185-pound title and the Brit is currently on a five-fight win streak. Bisping’s last Octagon appearance saw him successfully defend his title for the first time with a unanimous decision victory over Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 204 back in October.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as a date for Bisping and St-Pierre’s fight has been announced……
