The hype train was in full effect for previously undefeated flyweight Jose “Shorty” Torres heading into his preliminary card bout against Alex Perez at tonight’s (Sat., August 4, 2018) UFC 227 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, so much so that Demetrious Johnson had even touted the rising star.

However, Perez apparently didn’t get the memo, as he sent a resounding message that he was indeed the better 125-pound fighter with an absolutely vicious onslaught in the first round, unloading an unreal 104 significant strikes in the frame to score a jaw-dropping finish.

It was Perez’ eighth straight win and his third in the Octagon after debuting on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series last summer. Watch the beatdown here:

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, August 4, 2018) will come from in the form of UFC 227. Headlining the card are TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Pedro Munhoz vs. Brett Johns in a bantamweight bout closes the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1 in what should be an interesting fight.

Ricky Simon vs. Montel Jackson is next in a bantamweight bout.

Ricardo Ramos vs. Kyung Ho Kang is next in a bantamweight bout.

Matt Sayles vs. Sheymon Moraes in a featherweight bout opens the FOX Sports 1 preliminary card.

UFC 227 goes down live tonight (Sat. August 4, 2018) from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on pay-per-view (PPV).

Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will defend his title against Cody Garbrandt in a rematch from their initial meeting last year. The two former Team Alpha Male teammates will headline the night.

The co-main event will see Demetrious Johnson defend his flyweight title against Henry Cejudo. It will be a rematch from their initial meeting at UFC 197 in 2016.
