Aljamain Sterling Wants To Fight “Entitled” Dominick Cruz Next

Aljamain Sterling is shooting his shot for a fight with Dominick Cruz after his UFC 228 victory.

Last weekend (Sat. September 8, 2018) bantamweight challenger Aljamain Sterling picked up a submission win over Cody Stamann at UFC 228.

After his victory, Sterling called out former 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz to a fight next. “The Funkmaster” took to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to explain his reasoning for calling out “The Dominator.”

Sterling seemed to take issue with Cruz’s “entitled” attitude towards a bantamweight title opportunity (quotes via MMA Mania):

“I’m not necessarily mad at him, but at this point in the game I think he’s a little too entitled to feel he deserves a title shot after a one-sided loss,” Sterling said.

“He got beat around from pillar to post in the cage against Cody Garbrandt. And Cody just got starched twice by T.J.”

He then revealed an interesting theory on Cruz’s strategy. Sterling believes Cruz is sitting around and letting the “real” contenders pick each other off until he’s the last man standing:

“Then you don’t fight for two years and think you’re just going to sit and let all the real contenders, the fighters who are really putting in the work, come out and fight each other to eliminate each other so you can say, ‘I’m the last guy standing because I was out.’

“F*ck that, you got to fight and stay relevant. I understand you’re doing the commentary and you think that’s your way to stay relevant. No bro, we’re the ones putting in the work.”

At this point, there’s certainly no shortage of title contenders at 135 pounds. TJ Dillashaw comes off back-to-back wins over Cody Garbrandt – winning both via knockout. Marlon Moraes and Raphael Assuncao are both claiming the next shot at the title.

Perhaps one of these men will get the nod while Sterling gets his wish at a fight with Cruz or an interesting match-up with Assuncao.

Tyron Woodley’s Coach Has Theory Why He’s Not Fan Favorite

Tyron Woodley’s coach has given his take.

The post Tyron Woodley’s Coach Has Theory Why He’s Not Fan Favorite appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Tyron Woodley’s coach has a theory in regards to the reason that the UFC welterweight champion is not a fan favorite when he competes. It really started all when he won the title after beating Robbie Lawler by KO.

Woodley suffered a partial labrum tear early in his title defense over top contender Demian Maia, which he won by decision, which put him on the shelf. Woodley had been a fighting champion as he has defended it twice in 2017 where he picked up decisions over Stephen Thompson and Maia. This tied with three other fighters for the most active 2017 schedule by a UFC champion.

Then, for the majority of this year, Woodley would continuously state in interviews that he wanted big fights while telling fighters such as Rafael dos Anjos, Colby Covington, and Kamaru Usman to wait a little longer.

He would then return with a submission win over Darren Till in the headliner of UFC 228 to retain his welterweight title.

One of the coaches of the welterweight champion, Din Thomas, recently stated in an interview his theory on why Woodley is not over big with the UFC fanbase.

“I think that people are starting to realize,” Thomas said Monday on The MMA Hour. “Here’s what I think, I’m going to be honest with you, I think that people were just upset with Tyron. I don’t think that they ever didn’t think he could fight. I think they were just upset with him because they know what he’s capable of. I mean, up until the second Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson fight — Tyron was just tearing people up until that fight. Then those two fights, I think he just disappointed people and they were upset with him, and that’s when they started really badmouthing him. And the fact that he was coming out and just kinda complaining about his position in the game, I think that really just kinda exacerbated everybody’s view of him, and just, ‘You know what, we don’t like this guy.’

“But I think his performance on Saturday and his stance now that, ‘Listen, I don’t care who you put in front of me, I’m just going to fight,’ I think that’s what people want from Tyron and I think that’s what turned everybody’s opinion of him around.”

“It’s always affected him,” Thomas said. “There’s times where we had to take his phone away from him. It affects these guys. These fighters, everybody thinks they’re just these warriors and these animals, but fighters are some of the most sensitive people that you’ll ever see or ever meet, and it affects them. They get out there and they train their tails off and then get in the cage and they fight, they make themselves so vulnerable for the world to see, and then people just take that for granted and start talking trash about them, and it affects them. It affects them heavily.

“But I think now is a time where Tyron has matured, he has evolved as a person and a martial artist. He’s starting to become more mature and say, ‘You know what, this may be a time where I have to just give to the fans what they want, and that’s for me to just shut up and fight.’”

Woodley is expected to make his next title defense against Colby Covington at an event that has yet to be officially announced.

Colby Covington Mocks “Overrated Doughboy” Darren Till

Covington had some interesting comments about Till.

Colby Covington mocks Darren Till after his latest fight inside of the Octagon and in his own way, had some interesting words to share.

This comes off the fact that the title contender lost to Tyron Woodley in the main event of the UFC 228 pay-per-view event on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center that saw the champ score a second-round submission victory to retain his welterweight title.

Covington was supposed to be the next in line for Woodley and the title but Covington underwent surgery to correct a nasal issue and turned down the fight.

Following the UFC 228 event, Covington called out Woodley for a fight with the welterweight title on the line. UFC President Dana White has even gone on record by stating that this is the fight that they plan to make.

This leads us to Covington making an appearance on The Luke Thomas Show on Monday where he gave his take on the UFC 228 headliner.

He wasn’t impressed with the fight or Till’s wins over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson that got him the title shot.

“Till’s just an overrated doughboy that had a whole lot of hype,” Covington said. “He talked the talk, but he couldn’t walk the walk like me so he needs to leave it to the big boys. He beat a crippled old ‘Clownboy’ and got a gift in his hometown against the ‘Choirboy’. He should have never been rewarded with a title shot for missing weight in a third of his UFC fights. Good thing he neglected his family to land a hot zero significant strikes in two rounds.”

Moving along, Covington also gave his take on Celebrity MMA fan Snoop Dogg making interesting comments in a clip that was posted on his Instagram account while watching the fight. At one point, Dogg starts yelling, “F**k Donald Trump.”

“Snoop Dogg needs to get checked for Tourette’s,” Covington said. “Have you seen that malnourished twig hit the mitts? It’s a sight to be seen, it’s a joke. He needs to stick his a**hole-ness to rapping and get used to Donald Trump being his president for the next six-and-a-half years.”
