Nate Diaz pulled from the card of the UFC 230 pay-per-view event as well following the news that his opponent was also pulled.

Nate Diaz Pulled

On Tuesday night, it was revealed that Poirier has dropped out of his bout with the younger Diaz brother in a fight that the mass majority of fight fans was looking forward to seeing. The reason that Poirier dropped out was due to an undisclosed injury. It’s safe to say that this was one of the most anticipated bout of the card.

UFC President Dana White told Lance Pugmire that the promotion won’t be looking for a replacement and Diaz was also “definitely off UFC 230” card.

Next Fight?

This led to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani noting on his official Twitter account that Diaz has called for a showdown with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Asked @NateDiaz209 what’s next now that Dustin Poirier is out of UFC 230. His response? “I’ll just fight Khabib when he’s ready.”

Diaz has not been seen in the Octagon since his rematch with Conor McGregor back at UFC 202 when he suffered a majority decision loss which came five months after Diaz submitted McGregor in their first bout at UFC 196.

Sijara Eubanks is not happy about being pulled from the UFC 230 main event and she made no bones about it earlier today (Oct 9, 2018) on social media.

It was announced earlier today that Daniel Cormier will defend his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis in the new main event at UFC 230, which takes place on Nov. 3 in New York City.

News broke shortly after that the Eubanks and Valentina Shevchenko fight would be scrapped altogether. In favor of Shevchenko moving back to fight former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 in Toronto on Dec. 8.

Needless to say, Eubanks was ticked off. And The Ultimate Fighter finalist took to social media to blast UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Mick Maynard in a since-deleted tweet:

Shorty after Eubanks tweeted again. This time she implored White and Maynard to keep her on the card. She also demanded they stop running the UFC like a circus.

Eubanks then issued a half-hearted apology to Maynard.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Eubanks had some words for the women competing in UFC 231’s flyweight title fight.

As if that wasn’t enough, she then played the race card but realizing how foolish that is she quickly changed the subject into a male vs. female debate.

There is no word yet on whether Eubanks will remain on UFC 230 in some capacity or be rebooked for another show.

An awaited fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk is back on.

Earlier this afternoon, news arrived that the MMA world got a new UFC 230 main event. UFC President Dana White confirmed that heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will meet top-ranked competitor Derrick Lewis on November 3 in NYC.

The news confirmed a report from last night on the unlikely match-up. The pay-per-view (PPV) event from Madison Square Garden does feature an awaited scrap between Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz. But the event was lacking a true high-profile main event. Fight fans were perplexed when the promotion announced Valentina Shevchenko vs. Sijara Eubanks as the previous headliner.

The women’s flyweight title fight was a fine enough match in its own right. MAy argued, however, that it was far from the caliber expected to headline a PPV from MSG. The bout also put a temporary halt to the expected Shevchenko vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk women’s flyweight title bout at December 8’s UFC 231 from Toronto from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

That fight is back on according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who discussed the scheduling with White:

Flyweight Mix-Up

The women’s flyweight main event at UFC 230 received widespread criticism from the collective MMA world. UFC Octagon commentator Joe Rogan made headlines by claiming he didn’t know who Eubanks was.

Shevchenko already missed out on one opportunity to fight for the women’s flyweight title at September’s UFC 228. Former champion Nicco Montano missed weight and was stripped of the title she won on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

UFC 231 already features an anticipated featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega. That fight was supposed has already fallen apart once. It was set for UFC 226 but was canceled when Holloway experienced bizarre medical symptoms.

Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk have already fought in Muay Thai three times before with Shevchenko winning all three match-ups.
