Tonight’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the biggest UFC fight ever. It’s understandable that it’s bringing the biggest and best from the sports and entertainment worlds. That was clear when superstar rapper Drake became involved.

Such was the case at last night’s UFC 229 ceremonial weigh-ins. Chaos erupted at the scene, with Conor McGregor throwing a kick at Khabib, a McGregor fan slapping a woman, and more McGregor fans just being all-out buffoons.

Drake caused a commotion of a calmer kind when he joined McGregor onstage. The rap game’s biggest star is clearly a part of Team McGregor. He even wore an Irish flag to show his loyalty:

Drake even took time to laugh it up with McGregor and his family backstage:

Hans Molenkamp posted an up-close video of Drake and McGregor at the weigh-in on Instagram:

And of course, the UFC didn’t waste the opportunity to promote the sports/music crossover:

Khabib and McGregor came nose-to-nose for the last time at tonight’s ceremonial weigh-ins. As expected, the scene was an over-the-top one.

We wouldn’t expect anything less from what’s rightly being called the biggest UFC fight of all-time. UFC President Dana White wouldn’t let the two get too close, but McGregor did anyway. He slapped Khabib’s hands and threw a kick at the champion when they were separated.

The wait is through and tomorrow night’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is at hand. Now, it’s time for the UFC 229 ceremonial weigh-in.

The pay-per-view (PPV) may just be the biggest in MMA history. Based on the amount of pre-fight hype, it’s hard to blame those who believe that. Former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor will return from a nearly two-year absence to face current titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The undefeated champ Nurmagomedov made weight early before McGregor was on weight later at today’s UFC 229 early weigh-ins. All that’s left is for the two heated rivals to square off for the last time at tonight’s ceremonial weigh-ins.

Watch the anticipated scene streaming live via the UFC at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m PST below:

Jon Jones Reveals Why He Turned Down UFC 230

Something forced Jon Jones to decline headlining UFC 230 from Madison Square Garden.

Jon Jones had the opportunity to headline UFC 230, but he had to turn it down.

UFC 230 will be live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show goes down live next month on November 3rd. The UFC’s shows in MSG are usually some of their biggest of the year. This will be their third time putting on a show in the historic venue since 2016.

With the card shaping up nicely, featuring some of the biggest names in the sport, fans expected a massive main event. Especially with a name the caliber of Nate Diaz being penciled into the co-featured role. He will fight Dustin Poirier in a 155-pound contest.

Given that Jon Jones, born in New York state, is eligible to return to fight on October 28th from his United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) suspension, fans believed it was a natural fit. However, it was announced a women’s flyweight title bout would instead headline UFC 230. Valentina Shevchenko will fight Sijara Eubanks in the main event.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Jones revealed that he was actually offered the main event at UFC 230. Unfortunately, the timing wasn’t comfortable enough for “Bones” to accept, who felt he would’ve had too little time to train:

“It was offered to me, but by the time it was offered to me, I had about five or six weeks to prepare for the fight. I didn’t want my first fight back to be in a situation where I felt rushed, so I declined.”

As for when Jones will return, its been rumored UFC 232 is the target date. That event goes down from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 29th. Jones’ rumored opponent is Alexander Gustafsson.

Jones and Gustafsson put on, arguably, the most memorable light heavyweight title fight in UFC history back in 2013. “Bones” won via controversial unanimous decision. “The Mauler” has been gunning for a shot at redemption for quite some time. It looks like he might get his chance in December.

The UFC’s biggest fight of all-time is officially set. The MMA world can let out a sigh of relief to see that former champion Conor McGregor makes weight for tomorrow night’s (October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

McGregor hit the scales at 154.5 pounds at today’s UFC 229 early weigh-ins. He received an uproar of support from his fans. But the UFC’s biggest star didn’t wait to soak it in. He rushed out of the weigh-ins as fast as he arrived.

Watch him step on the scale and hit his mark via The Score:

The news comes on the heels of champion Khabib Nurmagomedov making weight as the first man on the scales today. There was obviously a ton of uncertainty surrounding ‘The Eagle’s’ mark on the scale.

McGregor came in late as he usually does. He was a half-pound below the lightweight title fight limit of 155 pounds. Both fighters looked in shape and ready.

So all concerns in terms of weight have been checked off the list. The UFC’s biggest match-up can now proceed as planned.

For once, the MMA gods have smiled upon us today. Who will win in Vegas tomorrow night?
