Everything seems to be falling right in place for Jon Jones to potentially headline UFC 230 in New York.

Today (Wed. September 19, 2018) it was announced by MMA Fighting that Jones had officially been handed a 15-month suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) through an arbitrator. The suspension is retroactive to when the sample was collected on July 28, 2017.

Jones is officially eligible to fight again next month on Oct. 28th.

An official USADA statement including a full arbitrator decision is expected sometime tonight. Jones would be eligible to headline the upcoming UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV) card from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Following his UFC 214 victory over Daniel Cormier, in which he recaptured the 205-pound title, Jones tested positive for Turinabol. He was subsequently stripped of the title, which was returned to Cormier who still reigns as champion. Initially a third-round knockout win for Jones, the victory was overturned to a no contest as a result.

As a result, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) revoked his MMA license in February. The hearing determined the commission would honor the suspension USADA deemed fit along with a $205,000 fine for Jones. Jones was facing up to a four-year ban by USADA as a second-time offender.

His initial run-in with the agency came before UFC 200 when he tested positive for a banned substance. It has long been rumored that Jones could serve as the main event of the UFC 230 PPV.

Nate Diaz will meet Dustin Poirier in the co-main event Only a short list of names could be big enough to headline over the Stockton brawler, and Jones fits that bill. He has been linked to a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson for the main event of UFC 230.

The loudest trash talker in the UFC says Tyron Woodley won’t get the coveted UFC 230 main event slot.

Interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington (or former champion, who knows) has ramped up his callouts of Woodley. A sinus injury for Covington prolonged their expected title fight earlier this year. The consensus is they’ll meet for the title next because of their long-standing rivalry.

Woodley recently stated he would be ready to face Covington at November’s UFC 230 on one condition. Covington isn’t buying that, however, telling BJ Penn (via MMA Mania) that was “fake news.” They won’t be fighting at that coveted event because the UFC simply hates Woodley according to Covington:

“Tyron, that’s fake news about his hand being hurt. He was saying he was ready to go, but I think it’s more that the UFC, they don’t want to give him that spot.

“They don’t want to reward him that main event, ’cause they hate him. He doesn’t know how to sell fights, he doesn’t know how to promote fights, he just complains, man. He just consistently shoots himself in the foot every time he opens his mouth.”

Woodley has received an endless amount of criticism for many topics. Some fans believe he is not promoted due to the fact he put on two boring title fights against Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson last year. UFC president Dana White has repeatedly blasted Woodley in the media.

Woodley claims the UFC is unwilling to promote him, at least in part, due to racism. He believes the UFC has failed to secure him the African-American contingent of Floyd Mayweather fans.

Regardless, November 3’s UFC 230 from Madison Square Garden in New York City is without a main event. The pay-per-view card features the long-awaited return of Nate Diaz against Dustin Poirier. That means it should sell well on pay-per-view.

It’s unknown who will headline the event, however, and the UFC may not want to give Woodley the massive PPV cash that comes along with it.

Should they?

Tyron Woodley Willing To Fight Colby Covington On One Condition

Tyron Woodley also has a certain date and location in mind for this fight.

Tyron Woodley willing to fight former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington but there needs to be one thing to go down in order to make it happen. The UFC welterweight champion obviously has some history with Covington and it appears to only be a matter of time before they fight.

Journey

Covington was supposed to be next in line for Woodley. However, Covington underwent surgery to correct a nasal issue and turned down the fight. Thus, the UFC gave the title shot to rising prospect Darren Till. This led to Woodley getting a dominant win over Till at UFC 228.

Tyron Woodley Willing To Fight

Now, Woodley is claiming that he is willing to fight Covington at UFC 230 on one condition. That is if he can get medically cleared for a thumb injury. Then, he is more than willing to headline this show.

“I’ve got an MRI on my thumb and I’m sending it for a second opinion,” Woodley said to MMAJunkie. “If I’m good, then I have no issue with fighting in November. The more I fight, the better rhythm I get in the swing of things. Obviously, I just fought, so I’m still in phenomenal shape. I’ve been eating pancakes, shrimp fried rice, brownies – taking a week and eating some bullcrap.

“It all depends on how severe my thumb injury is. I dislocated it in the first round punching him in the back of the head. I thought it was just jammed.”

“I would love to fight in Madison Square Garden again,” he said. “Not to sound arrogant, but would never take a fight against Darren Till if not 100 percent confident in both my hands. So I think I could beat (Covington) even if my hand’s a little jacked up.”

The UFC 230 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York City.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

Jon Jones Visits Las Vegas On Business Meeting With UFC

Jon Jones’ manager made the meeting public but what does this mean?

The post Jon Jones Visits Las Vegas On Business Meeting With UFC appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones took a trip to Sin City alongside his manager to have a meeting with UFC officials.

What’s interesting is that this news is not a report but rather, his manager, Malki Kawa, made it known to the world in a post on his official Instagram account with the caption of the photo that read, “2 GOATS, 1 mission, all business.”

This has led to a lot of speculation as to what this meeting was about considering two factors. One, there has been some who have thought that Jones would somehow make his return at UFC 230 in the main event. The second factor is due to him being suspended right now.

Jones failed an in-competition drug test for Turinabol at UFC 214 after he beat Daniel Cormier by third-round TKO. This fight took place in the main event in July of 2017 in Anaheim, California. Later on, he was stripped of the UFC light heavyweight title and also removed from the official UFC rankings.

Moving along to February, it was revealed that the CSAC revoked Jones’ MMA license and fined him $205,000. Many considered that this hearing that would determine Jones’ fate as a result of this drug test. Now, he’s waiting to hear the decision made by USADA. You can see the post here:
