Cris Cyborg is making it known that she wants a second crack at Amanda Nunes.

Following her victory over Felicia Spencer at last night’s (Sat. July 27, 2019) UFC 240 pay-per-view (PPV), Cyborg was spotted backstage discussing the rematch with UFC President Dana White. The pair have been going back-and-forth with one another through the media for the past several months.

White claims Cyborg is scared to rematch Nunes, while Cyborg claims she texted White immediately after losing to “The Lioness” for a rematch. Check out the pair talking about making the rematch happen here:

Cyborg’s fight last night in Canada was the final on her UFC contract. It remains to be seen if the ultimately decides to stay with the Las Vegas-based promotion, or go elsewhere. One thing is clear, however, both Cyborg and the UFC seem interested in making the Nunes rematch. Perhaps a one-off deal can be worked out if a long-term deal isn’t reached.

Do you think the rematch between Nunes and Cyborg will take place?

Mickey Gall is set to return to the Octagon at UFC Newark, but the prospect wants to run things back with Diego Sanchez.

At UFC 235 he fought Sanchez and suffered his second professional loss as he lost by TKO in the second round. But, the 27-year-old said had it not been for being sick he would have won that fight.

“I was just sick, if (he) had gotten me any other day of the year, he would have gotten his (expletive) kicked,” Gall told MMA Junkie. ‘If I didn’t have the kidney complications, I would have killed him.”

Although the weight cut played a factor in why he didn’t feel 100 percent on fight night, Gall assures welterweight is the weight class for him. And, he mentions how he was sick before the weight cut started which made things even worse.

“One-seventy is fine for me, it was just some health complications leading up to the fight,” Gall said. “It zapped my energy and I was pretty useless in there. I was struggling for just balance, I was so exhausted, it’s nothing like I ever felt before but I don’t anticipate ever feeling that again.”

“I’d been sick leading up to the fight and I think that being sick dehydrated me and then with the dehydrating and the cutting weight I think that was a little too much for my body so that’s pretty much what that was.”

Whether or not he gets the rematch is to be seen, but Gall wants it and has put out the offer for it.

Jon Jones is one of the greatest fighters of all-time. The light heavyweight champion was the youngest UFC champion and has never actually lost the belt by losing. He has only lost one fight, which was a DQ loss, and normally breaks down his opponents in the Octagon.

Anthony Smith, who fought Jones at UFC 235 knows that to be true. He said after the fight he did not fight his game plan and it costed him there. Now, looking back at the fight, Smith believes it is too hard to train for Jones without fighting him. Meaning, no one will beat “Bones” on their first attempt.

“I said the same sh*t going into it. It is not that simple. Now that I have 25 minutes of data on Jon Jones it totally looks different the second time around. But, you are right it is different, he is very different. There is no way of knowing that or training for that until you are in there with him. That’s the thing,” Smith said to The Mac Life (as transcribed by BJPENN.com). “I don’t want to just outright say it, but it is going to be hard to beat Jon Jones the first time for anybody, it really is. Unless you catch him, he’s going to be hard to beat on the first time. Thiago could catch anybody though, that dude is dangerous, he’s explosive, he could hurt anybody. I just don’t see him getting close enough to Jon to do it.”

Anthony Smith is confident he would do much better the second time around fighting Jon Jones. And, he has put himself in a good position to do just that after submitting Alexander Gustafsson in early June in Stockholm.

Pedro Munhoz has been hit in the pocket for his UFC 235 celebration following his Cody Garbrandt knockout win.

Today (Wed. April 24, 2019) the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) announced that Munhoz has received a $2,500 fine for exiting the cage immediately following his UFC 235 knockout victory over “No Love” inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, via MMA Fighting. Before he can compete again, Munhoz will have to pay $327.06 in prosecution fees and is on a temporary suspension until doing so.

Currently, Munhoz is scheduled to face Aljamin Sterling at UFC 238 on June 8 from Chicago. According to a representative on behalf of Bob Bennett from the attorney general’s office, Munhoz was expressly told by some commission officials not to jump the cage after beating Garbrandt. The commission doubled down today that any fighter exiting the cage immediately after a win is putting cageside spectators in danger.

Following the madness that was Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, the commission wondered if $2,500 was enough. However, after concluding that Munhoz’s actions were not malicious, it was determined his fine was enough to “serve notice.”
