Although it ended in controversial fashion, Jorge Masvidal got arguably the biggest win of his career on Saturday night — and he received props from President Donald Trump.

Masvidal took on Diaz for the BMF title in the UFC 244 headliner in Madison Square Garden, New York. The event was billed as the biggest card of the year and it certainly felt that way, especially when news broke that Trump would be in attendance.

The commander-in-chief would eventually show up as he witnessed Masvidal put a clinic on Diaz for the 15 minutes that they fought. “Gamebred” would drop a bloodied Diaz multiple times and looked to be on top in every department. Unfortunately, the doctor called an end to the contest just before the fourth round due to a cut near Diaz’s eye.

While the controversial finish may have taken away Masvidal’s performance from the public eye, Trump was certainly impressed as he congratulated “Gamebred” on Sunday morning:

“Great fight Champ!” he tweeted.

Regardless of anyone’s views on Trump, getting an endorsement from the President will only further boost Masvidal’s stock which has been exponentially rising in 2019.

What do you think of Trump congratulating Masvidal? Do you think “Gamebred” is a bona fide star now?

Things didn’t go according to plan for Kelvin Gastelum last night at UFC 244. Gastelum met Darren Till at middleweight in the co-main event of the night. The bout went all three rounds, but Till was awarded the victory via split decision.

Now, Gastelum finds himself on a two-fight losing skid after previously challenging for the interim middleweight title earlier this year. He took to Twitter to release a video statement on his loss this morning. Here’s what he had to say.

“Sorry to everyone let down by my performance. Tonight I just couldn’t put it together! Love all of you anyway and I promise you that I will be back better. Only way to go is up! God bless you all.”

As for Till, he is back in the win column after making his 185-pound debut. It will be interesting to see who the Englishman is matched up with next after taking out a top contender in Gastelum. The middleweight division is full of exciting fights and matchups for “The Gorilla,” who has proven to be one of the best strikers under the Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion’s banner.

What do you think about Gastelum’s comments following his loss to Till last night?

It was a disappointing loss for Johnny Walker last night (Sat. November 2, 2019) at UFC 244 from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Walker stepped into the Octagon in the featured preliminary bout of the evening, taking on Corey Anderson. Had he won, he would’ve had a good argument to challenge Jon Jones next.

Instead, Anderson made quick work of Walker, brutalizing the Brazilian on the feet before putting him away for good. Now, Walker has taken to Instagram to release a statement on the loss. Here’s what he had to say.

“Champion’s head. Never a defeat, always a lesson. Thanks for all suport …”

It will be interesting to see what’s next for Walker after suffering his first loss inside the UFC’s Octagon. He’s still an explosive young athlete who is sure to give many in the weight class issues.

For now, he won’t be lining up against Jon Jones next, but there’s still plenty of time for him to turn things around and get back on track for an eventual shot at the 205-pound title. Currently, the division favors Dominick Reyes to receive the next opportunity at “Bones’” title.

Derrick Lewis is back on the winning track inside the UFC’s Octagon after his decision win over Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 244 last night (Sat. November 2, 2019). With the win, Lewis has been getting a lot of questions about a potential fight with Greg Hardy.

The former NFL star, who has a history of domestic abuse, has been on Lewis’ radar for some time. Speaking to reporters after UFC 244 last night, Lewis said he wants Hardy out of the UFC, as he makes everyone else look bad. (H/T Bloody Elbow)

“I want Greg Hardy to get his ass out of the UFC,” Lewis told reporters. “He’s making everyone else look bad. So, we don’t need him to win no more fights.”

Hardy comes off what was originally a decision win over Ben Sosoli at UFC Boston last month. However, with Hardy illegally using an inhaler in between rounds, the victory was overturned to a No Contest. Now, Hardy has stepped in for an injured Junior dos Santos on short-notice to face Alexander Volkov in Moscow next weekend.

When asked for his thoughts on the matchup, Lewis said he doesn’t think “The Prince Of War” will be able to get the job done.

“They got on to him now, so I don’t think his ass can bring an inhaler to the cage to help him this time,” Lewis said. “So I don’t think he’ll win.”

Do you think Lewis and Hardy will eventually fight inside the Octagon?
