Last night (Sat. November 2, 2019) UFC 244 took place from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The New York crowd turned out for the event with an attendance number of 20,143, hauling in a $6,575,996.19 gate. There were also some well-deserved post-fight bonuses handed out.

In the preliminary featured bout, Corey Anderson stopped the hype train of Johnny Walker. Anderson finished Walker in the first round with a TKO after a jaw-dropping series of blows. With the victory, Anderson has been awarded a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus.

Kicking off the pay-per-view (PPV) card was Kevin Lee taking on the undefeated Gregor Gillespie. Lee connected with a big head kick in the first round that rendered Gillespie unconscious, handing Gillespie the first loss of his professional MMA career. Lee is now back on the winning track and has received a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus for his finish.

Finally, at welterweight on the main card, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Vicente Luque went all three rounds in an epic war that resulted in a Thompson decision win. Both men landed some great shots, but it was Thompson who had his hand raised when it was all said and done. Although Thompson won, both men will take home $50,000 for Fight Of The Night.

What do you think about the UFC 244 bonuses?

Last night (Sat. November 2, 2019) UFC 244 went down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden in New York City. In the main event of the evening, Nate Diaz met Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight bout for the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship.

Masvidal entered the fight on a two-fight win streak, viciously knocking out both Darren Till and Ben Askren – the latter of which being the fastest knockout in UFC history at five seconds. He took on Diaz, who ended a three-year layoff this summer to beat ex-lightweight champ Anthony “Showtime” Pettis with an impressive performance. After his fight, Diaz declared himself the Baddest Mother F*cker Champion, and called out Jorge Masvidal for his first title defense.

The Las Vegas-based promotion quickly booked the highly-anticipated bout, which finally came to fruition under the bright New York City lights last night. In the fight, Masvidal was getting the better of Diaz, cutting him up badly, but Diaz got his shots in, and seemed to be picking up the pace heading into the fourth round.

However, before the championship rounds could begin, the doctor decided to stop the fight, and the MSG crowd erupted in boos. Check out how the mixed martial arts (MMA) community reacted to Masvidal vs. Diaz here:

The BMF title headliner between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz certainly delivered for as long as it lasted. However, we ended up getting a controversial finish.

Masvidal was in control for majority of the fight as he hurt and dropped a bloodied Diaz on multiple occasions. Diaz showed heart and fought back, however, the damage he took would ultimately lead to the finish as right before the fourth round, the doctor called an end to the fight due to a cut near his eye.

The crowd was not happy at all and neither was Masvidal who nonetheless became the BMF champion after an overall dominant display.
