UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo will get his wish.
As per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Cejudo defends his bantamweight title against former featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 250 on May 9 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Although it wasn’t stated, the fight is expected to headline the card.
It’s a fight that has been in the offing ever since Cejudo called for it following Aldo’s split decision loss to Marlon Moraes back at UFC 245 in December.
Many felt Aldo had done enough to win the fight, including Cejudo and UFC president Dana White, the latter of whom was open to a title fight between the pair.
However, the booking is bound to receive plenty of criticism given that Aldo is still coming off two losses. And given the stacked bantamweight division with contenders such as Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling seemingly next in line, it’s not exactly a popular decision with UFC fighters either.
Regardless, Aldo will get his shot at becoming a two-division champion while Cejudo will look to add another huge name to his already impressive resume.
Cejudo became the bantamweight champion following a third-round TKO win over Moraes last summer.
What do you make of Aldo getting a title shot coming off two losses? And who do you have winning the UFC 250 headliner?

UFC bantamweight Thomas Almeida is looking to finally return to the Octagon this year.
Almeida hasn’t competed since a TKO defeat to Rob Font back in January 2018. It has now been over two years and counting for the Brazilian who was previously expected to return at UFC 235 last March only to pull out due to vision problems.
But seemingly in good health now, “Thominhas” hopes to compete in his native Sao Paulo when the promotion heads there for UFC 250 on May 9.
“I’m looking for a fight for now,” Almeida told Brazilian publication Combate (via BJ Penn). “I would love to make this return here in Sao Paulo.
“There is still a legal period for me to make the final adjustments, choose the opponent and even direct the camp. I am 100 percent recovered and ready to start all over again.”
Almeida has suffered some poor results in his last few outings, having lost three of his last four. He was previously an unbeaten and exciting prospect who went 16-0, winning performance bonuses in his first four UFC fights.
However, he would go on to suffer a knockout loss to former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt which started his recent run of results.
With plenty of time off, maybe we can expect to see a return to the old Almeida in 2020?

The promotion returns to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for UFC 250 which takes place at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium on May 9.
As per MMA Fighting, heavyweights will collide as Blagoy Ivanov meets Augusto Sakai on the card. Ivanov is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Derrick Lewis at UFC 244 in November. It put a half to his two-fight winning streak.
Sakai, meanwhile, is 3-0 since debuting for the promotion as he looks to continue climbing up the ranks. He notably defeated the likes of Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski and Marcin Tybura.
Ketlen Vieira is also set to return to action on the card as she meets Marion Reneau in a women’s bantamweight contest. Vieira’s last outing was an emphatic knockout defeat at the hands of Irene Aldana at UFC 245 — her first professional defeat.
She will look to bounce back against Reneau who is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Her last outing was a unanimous decision defeat to Yana Kunitskaya in March last year. Both fighters have confirmed the matchup on social media.
There is no main event as of yet, but it is expected to be a bantamweight title fight between current champion Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo.
