UFC welterweight Jeremiah Wells threw a ‘left hook from hell’ that slept veteran Court McGee on the UFC Austin prelims.

Wells had passed his first two UFC tests entering his fight with McGee. While many believed that McGee could’ve been his toughest test yet, he made quick work of McGee with a wild knockout.

Watch Wells throw a mean left hook to knock out McGee unconscious below.

Many of Wells’ UFC colleagues had a lot to say about his performance.

Wells made his UFC debut last June with a second-round TKO win over Warlley Alves. He followed it up with a lopsided victory over Blood Diamond at UFC 271 back in February.

Before signing with the UFC, Wells won the vacant Cage Fury FC welterweight title over Marco Smallman at CFFC 78. He also won the 170lb title in CES earlier in his career.

Wells moves one step closer to a potential spot in the welterweight rankings with the win. He’s won his last five fights overall.

UFC Austin continues to impress with a slew of wild finishes, including from Wells and other athletes. Follow along with all the action here.

Halfway through 2022, UFC featherweight Ricardo Ramos earned a ‘Knockout of the Year’ candidate at UFC Austin over Danny Chavez.

Ramos wasted no time putting pressure on Chavez on the UFC Austin prelims. Just over a minute into the fight, Ramos forced Chavez against the fence before getting the quick finish.

Watch Ramos throw a perfectly-timed spinning elbow for the knockout blow.

Ramos prompted quite the reaction from UFC Twitter.

Ramos came into the fight after a loss to Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC 267 last October. He has earned wins over the likes of Journey Newson and Kyung Ho Kang inside the UFC Octagon.

Chavez is now winless over his last three straight fights after a UFC debut win over TJ Brown at UFC 252. His loss to Ramos was preceded by a majority draw against Kai Kamaka III last July.

Ramos’ spinning elbow rivals that of former UFC strawweight champion Zhang Weili, who finished Joanna J?drzejczyk with a similar technique at UFC 275 last weekend.

This was also the second time that Ramos has earned a spinning elbow knockout in the UFC, after finishing Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 217.

The action continues at UFC Austin with a featherweight headliner between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett.

UFC bantamweight Cody Stamann made a statement during the UFC Austin prelims with a quick TKO finish of veteran Eddie Wineland.

Stamann and Wineland looked to get back in the win column after three-straight losses between the two of them. But, it was Stamann who came out victorious with a quick blitz early in the first round, which featured heavy knees in the clinch followed up by brutal punching combinations.

Watch Stamann get the finish below.

As expected, Stamann earned rave reviews of his performance from his fighting colleagues on Twitter.

Before UFC Austin, Stamann had suffered tough losses to the likes of Said Nurmagomedov and Merab Dvalishvili. His last win came against Brian Kelleher at UFC 250.

Stamann made his UFC debut back at UFC 213, earning a unanimous decision win over Terrion Ware. He would go on to win back-to-back split decisions over Bryan Caraway and Tom Duquesnoy.

As for the 37-year-old Wineland, his days fighting in the Octagon may be numbered after losses in five of his last six appearances. Before falling to Stamann, Wineland suffered first-round knockout losses to Sean O’Malley and John Castañeda.

Stamann will look to continue his climb in the bantamweight division in his expected return later this year.

UFC Austin is headlined by a featherweight clash between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett.

Phil Hawes, Daniel Cormier Involved In UFC Austin Verbal Spat: ‘You Picked The Wrong Pony’

Turning a spectacular, one-sided second round standing knockout win over Deron Winn at UFC Austin, middleweight strikes, Phil Hawes then landed himself in a back-and-forth verbal exchange with former two-weight UFC champion and color commentator in the Octagon — with Hawes claiming Cormier had shown bias toward Winn ahead of the matchup.

Phil Hawes, who featured on both The Ultimate Fighter 23 as well as Dana White‘s Contender Series has managed to establish a 5-1 promotional record, stopping the aforenoted, Winn tonight in hugely-dominant fashion, forcing a standing TKO victory in the second round after a slew of knockdowns and a series of slashing elbow strikes.

However, after the victory, Hawes, who was preparing for the official result to be read out and his post-fight interview with Cormier, switched his attention to the former undisputed light heavyweight and heavyweight champion.

Setting himself in the center of the Octagon, the New Jersey native claimed Cormier “picked the wrong pony”, to which Cormier insisted that he did not “pick fights”.

With referee, Herb Dean stepping between the two as tension began to rise, Cormier claimed that Winn was discouraged from taking a fight with Hawes in the past, and insisted that the result that had just played out was why.

Urging Hawes to act more respectfully following his victory, the New Jersey striker apologized to Cormier — who echoed that he did not “pick fights”, after Hawes alluded to a potential bias in the favor of Winn.

Phil Hawes improves to 4-1 during his UFC tenure

12-3 as a professional, Hawes has now landed UFC victories over Jacob Malkoun, Nassourdine Imavov, Kyle Daukaus, and now Winn, with his sole promotional defeat coming in the form of a knockout loss to Chris Curtis at UFC 268 back in November at Madison Square Garden.

A matchup between UFC veterans Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon has been canceled once again after a Lauzon knee injury.

News of the canceled Cerrone/Lauzon booking was first reported by Ariel Helwani.

Lauzon’s knee locked up shortly after their weigh-in on Friday, as he revealed on social media. Lauzon is unable to walk without assistance and the fight with Cerrone has been called off for a second time.

Cerrone and Lauzon were originally supposed to take place at a UFC Fight Night on April 30 before being rescheduled for UFC 274. On fight day, the fight was canceled after Cerrone suffered from food poisoning just hours before the event.

It’s uncertain if the UFC will opt to attempt to book the Cerrone/Lauzon fight for a third time or if they’ll move on with different opponents for both fighters. UFC President Dana White has previously said that the loser of Cerrone vs. Lauzon should “ride off into the sunset” and retire.

Cerrone last fought in May 2021 against short-notice replacement Alex Morono. He lost via first-round TKO after being originally scheduled to face fellow veteran Diego Sanchez.

Cerrone has since competed in grappling bouts against world-renowned jiu-jitsu practitioner Craig Jones and UFC colleague Joe Solecki.

It’s been a long road for Lauzon, who hasn’t fought since Oct. 2019. He earned a first-round TKO win over Jonathan Pearce at UFC on ESPN 6.

UFC Austin is headlined by a featherweight matchup between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett and co-headlined by a welterweight clash between Kevin Holland and Tim Means.
