End the speculation about Mike Brown.

The former WEC featherweight champion, the rumor of a potential cut after suffering his third loss in four fights during the recent UFC Fight for the Troops 2 event, will be given another opportunity to get back into the UFC win column.

American Top Team general manager Richie Guerriero confirmed to MMA Fighting that in the days since his unanimous decision loss to Rani Yahya, Brown has been told he would remain on the roster.

UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 was an amazing event. Melvin Guillard stunned the online sportsbooks (who pegged him by as much as a +200 underdog) by knocking out Evan Dunham within 3 minutes of the first round. Mark Hominick TKO’d George Roop in a minute and a half, earning him the next title-shot against Jose Aldo at UFC 129 in his home country of Canada. And, a really cute Hooters Girl named Allison Diehl won the UFC Octagon Girl For A Night contest. You can still donate to the Intrepid Fallen Hero Fund: here.

As tribute to the success of UFC: Fight for the Troops 2, below is a look back at the UFC Octagon Girls: Arianny Celeste, Brittney Palmer, and Chandella Powell in their camo-bikini wear.

Former featherweight champion Mike Brown has lost his second UFC fight in just three weeks.

Brown, who was hoping to bounce back from a split decision loss to Diego Nunes at UFC 125, instead dropped a unanimous decision to Rani Yahya at the UFC Fight for the Troops 2. Brown is now on a two-fight losing streak and has dropped four of his last six, and it’s fair to wonder how much the former champ has left.

Yahya snapped a two-fight losing streak of his own and looked good in the process. He’ll be a fighter to keep an eye on in the UFC’s new featherweight division.

“It was a very tough fight,” Yahya said afterward. “Mike is a winner, he’s a warrior. He’s a 35-year-old warrior that took a fight on two-week’s notice and fought at the last UFC, so he should get credit for that.”

DaMarques Johnson locked in a body triangle so tight in the first round of his fight with Mike Guymon at the UFC Fight for the Troops 2 that Guyon verbally submitted from the pain, giving Johnson a first-round victory on Saturday at Fort Hood.

It’s rare for a body triangle to force a fighter to submit, but it’s not unheard of — Tony Fryklund tapped out at UFC 50 because Ivan Salaverry had him in a tight body triangle.

Still, Johnson said after the fight that he was disappointed he couldn’t work his way to a more sophisticated submission, comparing Guymon’s early submission to “foreplay without orgasm.”

The victory improves Johnson’s MMA record to 12-8. Guymon falls to 12-5-1.

Yves Edwards looked great on his feet and then surprisingly effective on the ground against Cody McKenzie at the UFC Fight for the Troops 2 on Saturday night, winning a second-round submission victory when he sunk in a rear-naked choke that put McKenzie to sleep.

“It’s always nice to get somebody with their favorite move — choke a choke artist,” Edwards said of McKenzie, who’s best known for winning most of his fights by guillotine choke.

Former Ultimate Fighter housemates Cole Miller and Matt Wiman went at it at the UFC Fight for the Troops 2 on Saturday night, and in a surprising result, it was Wiman who took the fight to Miller for 15 minutes, grounding and pounding his way to a one-sided unanimous decision.

The win improves Wiman’s record to 13-5 and puts him on a three-fight winning streak. Miller falls to 17-5 with one of the most disappointing showings of his career, a fight in which he hardly ever got off his back and took a serious beating.

“I was going through a lot of nerves before this fight,” Wiman said. “It was probably the most nervous I’ve been.”

Those nerves didn’t show — Wiman looked poised and confident.
