It took a lot of re-working and signing of new talent, but the 13-fight card for Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 83 event is set once again.

Officials signed Augusto Mendes, Anthony Smith and Kelly Faszholz over the past 48 hours to help fill three voids on the card due to injuries. In all, six fights were changed and another had to be removed since the announcement of the event.

Mendes steps in to face Cody Garbrandt on the FOX Sports 1 main card, while Smith replaces Trevor Smith vs. Leonardo Augusto Guimaraes. Faszholz takes the place of Sarah Moraes and meets Lauren Murphy on the prelims.

Of note, Anthony Smith made his status known after besting fellow veteran Josh Neer recently. He has been pushing for a return to the UFC after winning seven consecutive fights since a 2013 loss to Neer inside the Octagon.

The FS1 main card includes Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Oliveira, Derek Brunson vs. Roan Carneiro, Garbrandt vs. Mendes, Dennis Bermudez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri, Chris Camozzi vs. Joe Riggs and James Krause vs. Shane Campbell.

According to a report by MMAjunkie.com on Monday, Trevor Smith has been forced out of a planned fight with Leonardo Augusto Guimaraes for the event.

The card takes place this Sunday from Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center. The headline fight is scheduled to pit Donald Cerrone against Alex Oliveira live on FOX Sports 1.

Smith (13-6) was looking to move above the .500 mark inside the Octagon after splitting his six bouts. Guimaraes (11-1) has yet to make his UFC debut, but has won his last seven overall.

The card was originally set to feature Cerrone vs. Tim Means, but Means was removed after issues with a drug test. Cody Garbrandt lost his planned opponent, John Lineker, earlier on Monday, while Lauren Murphy remains in the lineup despite Sarah Moraes bowing out recently.

Fights that are still on to this point include Derek Brunson-Roan Carneiro, Dennis Bermudez-Tatsuya Kawajiri, Chris Camozzi-Joe Riggs and James Krause-Shane Campbell.

UFC Fight Night 83, which is set to go down this upcoming weekend (February 21, 2016) from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has received yet another hit to its main card.

It was reported earlier today (February 15, 2016) that heavy handed Brazilian John “Hands of Stone” Linker has been forced out of his highly anticipated bantamweight matchup with Cody “No Love” Garbrandt due to suffering from a case of Dengue Fever.

Portal do Vale Tudo broke the unfortunate news before Lineker confirmed it himself via his official Twitter account:

Lineker has made waves in the UFC due to his brutal knockout power, compiling a 7-2 Octagon record. However, he has experienced weight cutting issues, and was recently forced to move back up to bantamweight where he scored a submission victory over Francisco Rivera in one of the best fights of 2015 at UFC 191.

“No Love” is also a prospect on the rise in the 135-pound division, possessing a perfect 7-0 record including a 2-0 UFC record. He scored a TKO victory over Marcus Brimage in his promotional debut at UFC 182, and most recently took away a unanimous decision last July over Henry Briones.

The UFC has yet to announce whether or not Garbrandt will remain on the card, but one would have to assume that it’ll be pretty difficult to find a new opponent on less than a week’s notice.

Former lightweight title challenger and fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was originally scheduled to face off with Tim “Dirty Bird” Means in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 83 on February 21, 2016 from Pittsburgh, California.

However, after Means was flagged yesterday (February 3, 2016) for a potential violation from USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), the UFC was forced to seek a new opponent.

It has now been confirmed that the promotion has called on another man dubbed “Cowboy” in Alex Oliveira to take on Cerrone in the night’s main event.

The Brazilian has won three straight including impressive finishes over K.J Noons, and most recently Piotr Hallman last November. He will be making his return to 170 pounds and undoubtedly facing off with his toughest test to date.

Cerrone will also be jumping up to welterweight for this fight after a failed bid for the lightweight title last December. Prior to being on the wrong side of a beating from 155 pound champ Rafael dos Anjos, the always game “Cowboy” had won an incredible eight straight including five by way of finish.

Looking to start a new run in his new division, Cerrone will aim to get back to his winning ways in Pittsburgh

Who are you picking in this one, and what do you think of the new main event?
