Fight week is upon us here at LowKickMMA as UFC Fight Night 84 is set for this upcoming Saturday (February 27, 2016) live on UFC Fight Pass from the O2 Arena in London, England.

The main event features a highly anticipated middleweight showdown between former long-time champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva and divisional mainstay Michael “The Count” Bisping.

It’s no secret that Silva has had his fair share of issues over the last few years, including a winless record since 2012, a gruesome leg injury suffered at UFC 168, and most recently a failed drug test for anabolic steroids after his return at January 2015’s UFC 183.

While these issues have undoubtedly loomed over Silva’s head, he also remains amongst the greatest talents we’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing inside of the Octagon.

Holding the records for most consecutive UFC wins (16), as well as most consecutive title defenses (10), “The Spider” notoriously reigned over the middleweight division for nearly seven years, spanning from 2006-2013.

Apparently at age 40 Silva intends to make one last title run, and while it’s unclear how realistic that may be, his career speaks for itself.

As he gets set to make another walk to the Octagon, let’s take a deeper look into an illustrious career with Anderson Silva’s greatest hits:

Headliner Michael “The Count” Bisping can be seen spending time with his family and finishing up some light training before heading to his homeland ahead of his main event bout with former long-time middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva.

Following their infamous “Viagra” confrontation at the official UFC Fight Night 84 open workouts earlier this week, Saturday’s headliners — Anderson “The Spider” Silva and Michael “The Count” Bisping are at it again, this time via social media.

Round two of the Silva-Bisping verbal sparring match ahead of the real thing on FOX Sports 1 from “The Count’s” home turf — the O2 Arena in London, England — took place late this week, as following the aforementioned open workouts encounter, Silva took to Instagram and posted the following photo directed towards his upcoming opponent.

The former longtime 185-pound king of the UFC posted the following on his official Instagram page, criticizing the former Ultimate Fighter Season 3 Champion’s pad technique.

Never one to be out-done in a war of words, particularly near the time of a big fight, Bisping fired back on his own official Instagram page soon after Silva’s post.

Saturday night’s hometown boy responded by simply and cleverly posting the following photo of the paperwork for his random pre-fight drug test, which was featured on the UFC pre-fight special that was released earlier this week, clearly poking fun at the fact that this is the first fight back for Silva since he served his first-ever Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) failed drug-test suspension for his fight against Nick Diaz in January of 2015.

When I get drug tested randomly. This is the result I get Anderson!

An ultra-intriguing middleweight showdown will go down in just over a week, as legendary former champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva will meet Michael “The Count” Bisping in the main event of UFC Fight Night 84 on February 27, 2016 from the O2 Arena in London.

Silva will be making his return from a one year suspension after testing positive for multiple performance-enhancing-drugs (PEDs) surrounding his January 2015 bout with Nick Diaz.

Prior to that fight, “The Spider” had dealt with a gruesome leg injury suffered in his second consecutive loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 168.

A man many consider to be amongst the greatest mixed martial artists of all-time, Silva hasn’t won a fight since October 2012. At 40 years of age, however, the Brazilian is aiming to make one more run at the title he once held for nearly seven years.

Bisping on the other hand, is currently ranked No. 7, and has been relevant in the 185-pound division for years now. Always seeming to fall short when he reaches a top contender bout, this fight with Silva will be pivotal for the outspoken Brit.

With two straight victories over the likes of CB Dolloway and Thales Leites, “The Count” will look to keep his win streak going as he nears the title shot he has forever longed for.

As the event nears closer, take a deeper look into the build-up of the main event with UFC Battle Lines: Silva vs. Bisping below courtesy of the UFC:
