UFC Fight Night 90 is now in the books as the electrifying event kicked off a three night stretch of fights for the UFC last night (July 7, 2016) from Las Vegas, Nevada.

After an absolutely insane day of news regarding the upcoming UFC 200 card, UFC Fight Night 90 ended up getting lost in the shuffle, but the card delivered in a massive way.

The main event featured a changing of guards concerning the lightweight title as former Bellator title holder Eddie Alvarez stunned Rafael dos Anjos in the very first round to become the undisputed UFC champion. Heavyweight sluggers Roy Nelson and Derrick Lewis also did battle in the co-main event with Lewis earning a decision victory.

Check out what the fighters had to say in the aftermath of the event during the post-fight press conference below courtesy of the UFC:

Rafael dos Anjos’ (25-8) second Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title defense took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in the main event of UFC Fight Night 90. His challenger was former two-time Bellator 155-pound kingpin Eddie Alvarez (28-4).

We have a new UFC lightweight champion.

The opening bout in the main card of UFC Fight Night 90 served as an opportunity for two lightweights to rebound from a loss. Joseph Duffy was on a four-fight winning streak before dropping a decision to Dustin Poirier back in January 2016. His opponent, Mitch Clarke also lost his last bout by decision to Michael Chiesa. Only one 155-pound bruiser could avoid his second straight defeat.

That fighter was “Irish Joe,” and he did it emphatically.

Duffy immediately landed a punch over the top that sent Clarke to the canvas. “Irish Joe” threw some punches and took the back of “Danger Zone” to force the tap. It took Duffy just 25 seconds to finish the fight, earning him the fourth fastest submission victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) lightweight division.

Final Result: Joseph Duffy def. Mitch Clarke via Submission (rear naked choke) – R1, 0:25

Here we go with the first of three huge UFC weigh-ins this week, as Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez do battle at UFC Fight Night 90. The Brazilian is coming off a first round TKO victory over Donald Cerrone in late 2015 and wants to put a stamp on his performance against the always game ex-Bellator boss Alvarez. Can the ‘Silent Assassin’ dislodge ‘RDA’ from the 155-pound throne? We’ll find out when they collide on July 7.

We’ve got a great co-main event to look forward to in the form of heavyweight knockout artists Derrick Lewis and Roy Nelson. Although now 40 years old, ‘Big Country’ can still pack a mean punch, but ‘The Beast’ is part of the next generation and faces his sternest test to date in Nelson. Joseph Duffy returns in a lightweight showdown with Mitch Clark, and there’s a host of other well known faces backing up the first of three big UFC events this week.
