UFC Fight Night 98 went down last night (Nov. 5, 2016) from Mexico City live on FOX Sports 1 and the card provided fans with a night of exciting fights.

The main event featured a crucial lightweight fight between former champion Rafael dos Anjos and surging contender Tony Ferguson, while the co-main event saw veteran Diego Sanchez take on ex-Bellator fighter Marcin Held, who was making his Octagon debut.

Aside from exciting fights, the card also provided us with some key takeaways. Let’s take a look at the top five:

1) Tony Ferguson Is A Legitimate Title Threat

The 155-pound strap is set to be defended next weekend (Nov. 12, 2016) when champion Eddie Alvarez takes on featherweight king Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 205. Also on that card, No. 1-ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov will meet Michael Johsnon, and many expect “The Eagle” to receive the next title shot if he comes out victorious.

While Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly deserving of a title shot, we learned last night that No. 3-ranked Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson is a legitimate title threat. He has proven to be an unorthodox, well-rounded fighter, and he has put together an incredible nine-fight win streak, which was capped off by a unanimous decision victory over a former champion in Rafael dos Anjos last night.

With that being said, the UFC should seriously consider giving Ferguson the next shot at gold, as it’s clearly been earned.

Ahead of next weekend’s mega-event in New York City, UFC has released the latest “UFC 205 Free Fight.”

Featured above is the complete UFC Lightweight Championship bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez from the UFC Fight Night 90 event that took place during UFC’s International Fight Week back in July.

Watch Alvarez win the UFC 155-title from RDA earlier this year, a fight that directly resulted in the Philadelphia native becoming one-half of the main event of arguably the biggest and most critically acclaimed fight card in UFC history, as he battles UFC’s top star and Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC’s debut event in the state of New York.

The official description for the UFC 205 Free Fight between RDA and Alvarez reads as follows:

“Eddie Alvarez captured the UFC lightweight championship when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos via TKO at Fight Night Las Vegas during International Fight Week in July. Alvarez now headlines UFC 205 against featherweight champion Conor McGregor on November 12, live on Pay-Per-View.”

UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor takes place on Saturday, November 12th from the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.

Coming off of a disappointing title loss to newly-crowned UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez this past July, former 155-pound champ Rafael dos Anjos recently joined The MMA Hour (courtesy of Bloody Elbow) to discuss a hard truth he learned after losing the lightweight throne.

425_Rafael_Dos_Anjos_vs_Eddie_Alvarez.0.0‘RDA’ stated that it was a huge blow for him and his family after dropping the title to Alvarez, but it was nice to know who would truly stick by your side when you are no longer on the top of the mountain:

“I learned a lot of things,” dos Anjos said. “For instance, the way people treat you. I learned from each person in my family. My wife and kids were really sad, it was a big loss for us, especially due to the way it was. At the gym, too.

People treat you one way when you’re the champion and another when you’re not.”

The former lightweight champion then revealed that he would be trimming the fat off some of his so called ‘friends’ circle, and that thankfully some of them will no longer be with him once he is hoisting the 155-pound title above his head once again:

“It was good to know what people really think,” dos Anjos said. “We can’t stop adjusting and we will let some people go in order to be champion again.

Fortunately, some people will not be with me anymore.”

Dos Anjos will attempt to regroup when he takes on Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Latin America Season 3 Finale (TUF Latin America 3 Finale), from the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico on November 5, 2016.
