LowKick MMA will be bringing you UFC Vegas 14: Felder vs. dos Anjos Results throughout the night (Sat. 14th. November 2020) from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Taking main event honours in rather astonishing fashion, perennial lightweight contender, Paul ‘The Irish Dragon’ Felder moves from the commentary booth to the Octagon as he replaces grappling talent, Islam Makhachev on just five-days notice as he welcomes former division champion, Rafael dos Anjos back to 155-pounds.

Briefly contemplating retirement following his close split decision defeat to Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker in the main event of UFC Fight Night Auckland in February, Felder has made a u-turn, meeting dos Anjos in a high-stakes pairing.

Seeing a matchup with Makhachev scrapped for the second time in as many months, Niterol favourite, dos Anjos makes the lightweight walk for the first time since a unanimous decision defeat to former interim champion, Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson back in November 2016.

In four years since, the Brazilian has managed to score a 4-4 record at welterweight, taking notable wins over Tarec Saffiedine, Neil Magny, former champion, Robbie Lawler, and Kevin Lee, the latest in May of last year. Riding a two-fight skid, dos Anjos has fallen to unanimous decision defeats to both Leon Edwards and in his first Octagon appearance of this year, to Michael Chiesa at UFC Fight Night Raleigh in January.

In the night’s co-main event, renowned knockout ace, Abdul Razak Alhassan attempts to return to winning ways as he makes his second walk of the year against Khaos Williams – following a unanimous decision defeat to Mounir Lazzez at UFC Fight Island 1 in July.

Making his second appearance under the UFC’s banner, 10-1 prospect, Williams meets Alhassan following a cancelled March pairing with Laureano Staropoli. In his Octagon bow, the 26-year-old scored an impressive twenty-seven second knockout win over Alex Morono at UFC 247, whom he shares tonight’s event with.

A clash of welterweight division veteran’s, ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown, and ‘The Natural Born Killer’ Carlos Condit is currently in the works for a UFC Fight Night event on January 30 – with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion.

Recently snapping a five-fight, four-year run without a victory, former interim UFC welterweight champion and WEC 170-pound best, Condit featured at UFC Fight Island 4 in October, securing a unanimous decision win over Court McGee over three-rounds. Following the victory, Condit expressed his interest in finally throwing down with fellow mainstay, Brown next.

Dropping his first loss after a two-fight rise, Ohio native, Brown dropped a second-round knockout defeat to upstart, Miguel Baeza at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May. MMA Fighting reporter, Damon Martin was first to report the news of the intriguing, targeted clash of the fan-favourites.

Albuquerque native, Condit is set to make his stunning eighteenth Octagon appearance since his arrival from the now-defunct WEC promotion during the company merger back in April of 2009.

The Jackson-Wink MMA mainstay is revered as one of the most poised and popular strikers in the promotion’s history, scoring a notable fifteen separate knockout and thirteen submission wins over his eighteen-year professional career.

Condit, 36, has notched highlight career triumphs over the likes of Frank Trigg, John Alessio, Hiromitsu Miura, Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy, Nick Diaz, Martin Kampmann, and Thiago Alves.

Brown, another renowned striker has himself managed an eye-catching fourteen separate knockout victories since his professional bow back in 2005.

The Ultimate Fighter 7 feature has established a 15-11 promotional record, and a résumé which is littered with noteworthy names such as Douglas Lima, Pete Sell, Stephen Thompson, Mike Swick, Jordan Mein, Mike Pyle, Erick Silva, Tim Means, Diego Sanchez, and Ben Saunders.

Condit and Brown were scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night Sacramento in 2013, with Brown forced from the tie due to a back injury, before the pairing was rescheduled for a UFC Fight Night Glendale event back in 2018, with Condit instead matching with Alex Oliveira on short-notice after Brown had suffered a torn ACL.

Leon Edwards Believes Khamzat Chimaev Is ‘Overhyped’

Ahead of their UFC Vegas 17 headliner on December 19th. – perennial welterweight contender, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards has told how he believes upcoming dance partner, Khamzat ‘Borz’ Chimaev is “overhyped“.

Team Renegade BJJ & MMA trainee, Edwards has been out of action since July of last year, where he took his eight consecutive victory via a unanimous decision win over former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night San Antonio.

Edwards was initially slated to have featured once already this year, in the main event of UFC Fight Night London in March, opposite former champion, Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley. That high-stakes pairing was shelved, however, after the entire event was cancelled amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

While Woodley would go on to headline a UFC Vegas event against number-one contender, Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns, Edwards has found willing opponents few and far between in the time since the cancellation of his fight.

The Birmingham native had been continuously linked with a matchup opposite two-time championship challenger, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, with that bout failing to come to fruition.

The all-rounder now meets breakout star, Chimaev on December 19th. at the promotion’s final event of the year, while fan-favourite striker, Thompson is expected to feature as well, as he welcomes streaking kickboxing ace, Geoff ‘Handz of Steel’ Neal.

Speaking with ESPN MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani ahead of his December showdown with Chimaev, Edwards explained how he believes the undefeated prospect is “overhyped” – noting the similarities in what he has achieved during his initial run in the promotion.

“”I believe he’s (Khamzat Chimaev) overhyped,” Edwards said. “I was once 9-0 in my career, I once had an eight-second knockout in the UFC, I’ve done everything he’s done.

Edwards was infamously involved in a rather public spat with the promotion recently, where he was removed from the official UFC welterweight rankings due to inactivity before he was swiftly reinstated after news began to circulate that he had accepted a bout agreement to meet with Chimaev.

AllStars mainstay, Chimaev finds himself in a potential welterweight title eliminator just four fights and six months deep into his Octagon stint, quite a feat. The Chechen-born wrecking machine has laid dominant waste to both John Phillips, and Rhys McKee in the space of just ten days in July, before stopping grappling ace, Gerald Meerschaert with a massive one-punch knockout inside just seventeen seconds in September

Glover Teixeira continues to perform as an underdog, earning not just his fifth consecutive win, but also his second crack atthe UFC light heavyweight crown with a phenomenal third-round rear-naked choke victory over the returning, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos.

Displaying his patented power from the opening couple of exchanges, Santos hurt Teixeira early with a counter right-hook, wobbling the Minas Gerais veteran who shot desperately for a frail double-leg takedown.

In typical Teixeira fashion, the veteran managed to score a takedown eventually, grounding out Santos for the rest of the first-round, finding the target from both full-mount and full-guard to really force Santos to keep tabs on his position.

Shooting once again early in the second-frame, Teixeira would land two notable hammer-fists, as Santos struggled to offer anything significant in terms of forcing some sort of scramble – failing to create much if any space for a stand up.

In a round which played out hugely similarly to the opening frame, Teixeira kept Santos busy with an accumulation of strikes from side-control on this occasion, before almost wrapping up a late rear-naked choke, with the round ending klaxon saving Santos’ bacon.

In a massive switch of pace in the third, Santos defended another early shot from Teixeira, before countering with another left hand, dropping his compatriot and assuming half-guard himself, threatening the finish. Almost forcing the issue with a massive barrage of ground-and-pound, a fatigued Santos gave up his back with Teixeira eventually forcing the tap this time around to earn his status as the next contender to the light heavyweight throne.

Check out the highlights from Teixeira’s title challenge earning submission win over Rio de Janeiro native, Santos below.

Brahimaj

Despite a solid showing, promotional debutante, Ramiz Brahimaj dropped a defeat in his UFC bow, after suffering a brutal ear injury in the final round of his preliminary pairing with Max ‘Pain’ Griffin.

The Fortis MMA mainstay had his promotional career disrupted after the discovery of a tumor within his eye, detailed some decent striking early on in the opening round, before suffering a couple of accidental groin kicks from Griffin.

Brahimaj seen a scheduled tie with Miguel Baeza scrapped amid the diagnosing of his tumor, which was subsequently successfully removed, was also forced from a UFC Vegas event in June against Takashi Sato, after a member of his corner had returned a positive test result for COVID-19.

Midway through the third and final frame, Brahimaj who had his back to the Octagon fence was clipped with a short right elbow from Griffin, almost completely detaching the former’s left ear from his head, with Brahimaj clearly attempting to hold his ear in place. In a timely call, referee, Mark Smith separated the two immediately, calling a halt to the action.

Check out footage of Brahimaj’s ear injury below, viewer discretion to the squeamish is advised, however.
