Despite a solid showing, promotional debutante, Ramiz Brahimaj dropped a defeat in his UFC bow, after suffering a brutal ear injury in the final round of his preliminary pairing with Max ‘Pain’ Griffin.

The Fortis MMA mainstay had his promotional career disrupted after the discovery of a tumor within his eye, detailed some decent striking early on in the opening round, before suffering a couple of accidental groin kicks from Griffin.

Brahimaj seen a scheduled tie with Miguel Baeza scrapped amid the diagnosing of his tumor, which was subsequently successfully removed, was also forced from a UFC Vegas event in June against Takashi Sato, after a member of his corner had returned a positive test result for COVID-19.

Midway through the third and final frame, Brahimaj who had his back to the Octagon fence was clipped with a short right elbow from Griffin, almost completely detaching the former’s left ear from his head, with Brahimaj clearly attempting to hold his ear in place. In a timely call, referee, Mark Smith separated the two immediately, calling a halt to the action.

Check out footage of Brahimaj’s ear injury below, viewer discretion to the squeamish is advised, however.

LowKick MMA will be bringing you UFC Vegas 13: Santos vs. Teixeira Results throughout the night (Sat. 7th. November 2020) from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One-time UFC light heavyweight title challengers, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos, and Glover Teixeira headline tonight’s event in ‘Sin City’ – hoping to stamp their respective tickets as the next contender to Jan Blachowicz’s 205-pound throne, albeit after the rise of middleweight champion, Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya.

Returning to action from a slew of major leg and knee injuries suffered in his tight five-round affair with two-time champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones back in July of last year at UFC 239, 36-year-old bruiser, Santos dropped his first defeat at 205-pounds in his razor-thin decision loss to Jones.

Making a timely rise to title challenger status, the American Top Team trainee had blasted through Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa, and scored a knockout victory over current best, the aforenoted, Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night Prague back in February of last year.

41-year-old Minas Gerais favourite, Teixeira would not only book his place in a second light heavyweight title fight under the promotion’s banner with a win over Santos, but would also secure his eye-catching fifth straight win. The poised boxer and grappler completely descimated common-opponent, Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May, adding to a winning run which includes prior victories over Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba, an Karl Roberson.

In the night’s co-main event, veteran former UFC heavyweight kingpin, Andrei ‘The Pitbull’ Arlovski returns for the second time this year, as he welcomes Canadian division prospect, Tanner ‘The Bulldozer’ Boser.

Sharing the above mentioned Jacksonville card with Teixeira, Arlovski returned to winning ways with a unanimous decision win over Philippe Lins.

Hoping to score his third consecutive win, Boser rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to fellow prospect, Ciryl Gane, with a pair of knockout victories of his own both common-opposition, Lins and Raphael Pessoa, in June and July this year, respectively.

The highly-anticipated December 5 main event between middleweight contenders, Darren ‘The Gorilla’ Till and Jack ‘The Joker’ Hermansson has unfortunately fallen to the wayside.

According to an earlier report from ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto, fan-favourite striker, Till has been forced to withdraw from the UFC Vegas 16 headliner against the grappling ace, due to an undisclosed injury.

In the Liverpudlian’s place steps streaking division contender, Kevin ‘The Trailblazer’ Holland who attempts to jot his name in the history books. Featuring just last weekend at UFC Vegas 12 with a massive submission to slam stoppage win over Charlie Ontiveros, Holland notched his fourth consecutive win of this calendar year. A victory over Hermansson would secure Holland’s status as the sole middleweight to lodge five wins in a calendar annum in the promotion’s history.

Last featuring at UFC Fight Island 3 at the end of July on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE – Team Kaobon mainstay, Till dropped his first loss since his November move to middleweight in a close back-and-forth five-round decision blemish to former 185-pound best, Robert ‘The Reaper’ Whittaker.

The popular counter striker had made his middleweight birth in the co-main event of UFC 244 in November last at Madison Square Garden, and like would-be opponent, Hermansson, took home a victory over former interim chaser, Kelvin Gastelum.

Featuring in July also, former Cage Warriors gold holder, Hermansson rebounded from a UFC Fight Night Copenhagen knockout loss to Jared Cannonier to nab an eye-catching opening frame heel hook win over Kings MMA staple, Gastelum.

Along with his first-round win over Ontiveros, 28-year-old California favourite, Holland had scored other triumphs against Till’s compatriot, Darren Stewart, and knockout stoppages of recent viral sensation, Joaquin Buckley, and a May win over Anthony Hernandez.

Replacing Till on short-notice, Holland also features under the headlining bracket for the premier time in the organization since his promotional bow back in August 2018 at UFC 227. For Hermansson, the 32-year-old Swede takes main event honours for the third time in his last four Octagon appearances.

Czech finisher, Prochazka made big waves in his promotional bow at UFC 251 on Fight Island also, scoring a massive second-round knockout win over common-opposition, Volkan Oezdemir in his UFC debut. The 28-year-old had transitioned to the UFC from RIZIN FF in January, inking a multi-fight deal. News of the targeted tie was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA.

Reyes, 30 – had featured in a UFC light heavyweight title fight for the second time in as many fights in September, following a February main event against Jon Jones at UFC 247. A former RIZIN FF light heavyweight titleholder, Prochazka has won his last elven professional walks straight – picking up victories over UFC alumnus, Fabio Maldonado, and C.B. From twenty-seven professional wins, Prochazka has scored a staggering twenty-four knockout triumphs.

Brian ‘T-City’ Ortega is back with a bang, and back in title contention. Earning his second crack at UFC featherweight gold, the Californian displayed a creative striking showcase with a five-round, dominant victory over fellow one-time title challenger, ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.

The renowned grappler displayed a fantastically adept overall striking game to pick the South Korean power-puncher apart for the opening-round, before scoring a knockdown via a counter left hook.

Finding his range briefly in the second frame, Zombie managed to setup a well-placed counter right hook midway through the frame, before Ortega found his second knockdown of the fight with a beautifully timed spinning elbow. Finishing the round from top-position, Ortega managed a late takedown at the fence.

Stuffing a takedown attempt in the third, Zombie was once again picked apart in the third with more sharp boxing and lateral movement who rolled with the counter attempts of Jung and showed a real maturity in his defensive ability.

In the first of our two championship rounds, a clash of heads as Ortega pressed for a takedown resulted in a cut on the left eyelid of Zombie, with the Octagon side physician checking the cut before allowing Jung to continue.

With more of the same in the fifth and final frame, Ortega rounded out his dominant 50-45 x3 victory with some more leading pressure and boxing.

Below, check out the highlights of Ortega’s title earning victory over Zombie.
