French uber-prospect, Manon ‘The Beast’ Fiorot improves to 7-1 professionally, and nabs her second Octagon victory via a brutal second round bluegeoning of Tabatha Ricci on the preliminary portion of UFC Vegas 28 this afternoon.

Making her second Octagon walk, the flyweight upstart entered the fray off the back of an eye-catching high kick and strikes stoppage victory over Victoria Leonardo at UFC Fight Island 7 in January of this year — in her promotional bow.

Utilsiing her expert striking from the onset and throughout, the 31-year-old Nice native eventually dropped Ricci midway through the second frame, before swarming at the Octagon fence with strikes. Forcing referee, Herb Dean to step in and separate the two, Fiorot began teeing off with heavy winging hooks and straights, connecting heavily on a defence-less, Ricci.

Below, catch the highlights from Fiorot’s impressive second UFC victory.

It’s four straight wins for the #3 ranked, Rob Font — who turns in a masterful striking display over five rounds to take home a unanimous decision victory over former undisputed bantamweight titleholder, Cody Garbrandt.

A quite tentative opening couple of minutes in the first round was snapped when Font landed a notable clipping shot above Garbrandt’s ear. Evading and looking to counter, Garbrandt managed to secure a double leg at the fence a couple of times as New England Cartel mainstay, Font looked to press at the fence. Some very dangerous exchanges given the power and accuracy on both sides of the board here.

Starting the second round with another successful takedown, Garbrandt moved straight into full guard. Sweeping expertly with a kimura setup, Font managed to get the fight back to a vertical position. Looking largely to counter from the fence as he circled away, Garbrandt found himself on the receiving end of some notable jabs from Massachusetts native, Font.

Dictating the pace in the third, Font again forced Garbradnt to fight off the back foot, and clinched well at the fence as the former champion appeared to be fading in regards to his stamina. Third round in the books, and possibly a third straight round for Font.

Another striking clinic from Font in the fourth who was using his jab expertly, with Garbrandt continuing to fade and appearing quite frustrated with his overall performance.

Turning in a much better fifth and final round, Garbrandt looked slick with his own countering ability, however it proved too little too late for the former champion, as Font lodges his fourth consecutive victory via a unanimous decision.

Check out the highlights from Font’s masterful striking output below.

Veteran UFC heavyweight contender, ‘Big’ Ben Rothwell has notched his seventh submission win as a professional — stopping short-notice replacement, Chris Barnett with a second round guillotine.

Drawing fan favourite, Barnett on short notice, Rothwell was initially slated to meet with Philipe Lins and then Askhar Mozharov, however, the latter was forced from the pairing after he failed to obtain a VISA in time. Remaining on the card, Rothwell clashed with the storied veteran, Barnett.

Threatening with his top pressure in the first round after establishing full mount, Rothwell found himself on the recieving end of some notable counters from Barnett, however, the latter began to fatigue quite significantly toward the end of the first round.

Failing to recover in the early goings of the second, Barnett shot for a laboured takedown. Sprawling and setting up a taut guillotine, Rothwell eventually forced the tap.

On short notice, Alex Morono has scored the most high-profile victory of his UFC stint so far, finishing former lightweight title challenger, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone with a first round barrage before the klaxon.

Meeting the veteran Albuquerque-based striker on short notice as he replaced the released, Diego Sanchez — Morono started in a timely fashion, sprinting across the Octagon, almost reminiscent of former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor‘s early approach against Cerrone.

Tying up in the clinch for the opening minute, Morono eventually broke away and began winging shots in the pocket against Cerrone who attempted to find his mark with a left body kick, which he found on numerous occasions.

Slipping and firing off a swift and perfectly-placed counter overhand right, Morono forced a wobble out of Cerrone, who began to circle away. Forcing the Denver-native to circle back to the fence, Morono, under the tutelage of Sayif Saud at Fortis MMA — reached with a right hand and left hook, eventually closing down Cerrone with a barrage, finishing the future Hall of Famer before the first round concluded.

Below, catch the highlights from Morono’s first round stoppage win over Cerrone.
