No. 5-ranked Kelvin Gastelum will face a tough task at Nov. 12’s UFC 205 when he meets former lightweight title challenger turned surging welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on the event’s main card.

Cerrone has won three straight by way of stoppage since moving up to 170-pounds after suffering two defeats to former lightweight king Rafael dos Anjos, a man who has also trained under Gastelum’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro. Because of this, Gastelum feels as if he will have the strategy to beat “Cowboy”:

“They’ve figured out a formula on how to beat him,” Gastelum said when speaking to FOX Sports. “They’ve beat him twice and Master Rafael Cordeiro, I told him ‘what do you think about this fight?’ He said ‘no problem, we beat him twice, we’ll beat him again.’ I’m feeling pretty good.”

Gastelum also feels as if his strength, speed, and southpaw stance will help lead him towards a victory over Cerrone in New York:

“Donald doesn’t do very good against southpaws. I believe he’s about 2-5 against southpaws,” Gastelum said. “Only wins against Benson Henderson and Rick Story recently and he’s had problems against Nate Diaz, against Rafael dos Anjos twice, against Benson Henderson twice, so he’s had problems with southpaws that give him trouble.”

“I think I’m a bigger, stronger version of Rafael dos Anjos. I can come forward with that same style of pressure, except I’m going to be faster and stronger than Rafael was.”

With Cerrone being ranked at No. 6 within the division, this fight holds major title implications for both men, and Gastelum plans to continue his trek towards the gold:

“I’m ranked top five in the division and that’s where I want to keep going,” Gastelum said. “I want to keep moving up, I want to move up the rankings and hopefully get a title shot after this fight.”

The 170-pound title is also set to be defended at UFC 205 when champion Tyron Woodley meets Stephen Thompson in the co-main event.

Joanna: I Might Not Have Big Boobies, But I’m The GOAT

Reigning UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has established herself as quite a dominant titleholder and she’ll look to defend her strap for the fourth time when she meets fellow undefeated Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz on the main card of Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from New York City.

In today’s fight game, looks and talk seem to reign supreme, but “Joanna Champion” is more concerned with her legacy rather than having ‘big boobies’:

“I know that I’m not the prettiest one, I’m not having big boobies or I’m not American, but I want people to remember me as the best female fighter, undefeated in MMA, and the UFC champion of the world,” Jedrzejczyk said during Tuesday’s conference call.

“I want to be a legend. I want people to talk about me in five, 10 years, 20 years, that I was one of the best female MMA fighters, that I was one of the best UFC champions in the world back in the day.”

“This is what I want. I just want to retire as an undefeated champion. This is my goal. This is my dream, and I want to make this dream become (real) life.”

This fight will actually be a rematch, as the two fought once as amateurs with Jedrzejczyk winning by way of submission. The champion is obviously planning on coming out on top again, but she’s also focused on giving her country a good show:

“It’s going to be a really beautiful morning for Polish fans. Because in Poland it’s going to be very early, Nov. 13, when we are going to fight in New York. So it’s a big deal. I love my country.”

“Even though I moved to Florida, I’m still Polish. I love my city and I’m doing this for them, so I’m representing my country, even though I must face Karolina Kowalkiewicz.”

Who do you see walking away with 115-pound gold on Nov. 12?

Eddie Alvarez On Conor McGregor: He’s Just A Left Hand

It’s no secret that Conor McGregor’s deadliest weapon is his powerful left hand, and he’ll likely try to use it at Nov. 12’s UFC 205 when he attempts to become the first man in UFC history to hold two titles at one time against 155-pound champion Eddie Alvarez in the evening’s headliner.

Alvarez, however, feels as if the Irishman is only ‘a left hand’ and that there’s not much else to him. In fact, the ex-Bellator champion feels as if he’s going to ‘dominate’ McGregor:

“To me, he’s just a left hand,” Alvarez said on the MMA Roasted podcast. “He’s just a guy with a left hand. That’s how I see him. He does something that we call a ‘rock back’ well. Mayweather does it. A lot of Philly fighters do it. [McGregor] lives and breathes off it. A lot of MMA guys don’t know about these boxing things that they do. This is a move that’s very easily taken away and we’re going to dominate every step of the way.”

While he wouldn’t reveal specifics, “The Silent Assassin” said that he and his team have come up with a game plan that will lead him to victory at the famed Madison Square Garden:

“Without giving away a gameplan or anything, everything’s taken away with the proper preparation. I’m confident in my coaches, I’m confident in our gameplan and our ability to go out there and do it. We’re just following this gameplan step-by-step.”

Conor McGregor’s outlandish actions may finally be catching up to him.

The reigning UFC featherweight champion is set to challenge lightweight titleholder Eddie Alvarez in the main event of Nov. 12’s UFC 205 from the famed Madison Square Garden in New York, but he has yet to be licensed to fight in the state despite the card being just weeks away.

McGregor recently received a $75,000 fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) due to his roll in the bottle throwing incident with Nate Diaz at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference. McGregor then taunted the commission, implying that he wasn’t going to pay the fine, something the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) is ‘closely monitoring’, per MMAFighting:

“The New York State Athletic Commission is aware of the Order issued by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Conor McGregor has not yet completed his application to the New York State Athletic Commission for a license, nor, to our knowledge, has he agreed to the fine levied by Nevada or exercised an appeal. It is also our understanding that the time within which Mr. McGregor may seek a legal challenge to the Nevada Order has not yet expired. An administrative fine without a concurrent suspension is not a mandatory bar to licensure. The New York State Athletic Commission expects its licensees to resolve disciplinary actions and comply with lawful final orders issued by the states in which they have chosen to compete, and will be closely monitoring this matter.”

After receiving the fine, the “Notorious” one told UFC President Dana White that he no longer had any interest in competing in the state of Nevada, and that New York and Ireland were fine for him, but his actions in Las Vegas may affect these plans.

Do you expect the 145-pound kingpin to sort out his issues with the New York commission before he attempts to make history next month?

In today’s fight game, it seems as if ‘money fights’ are all the rage rather than fights that make the most sense from a rankings standpoint.

After all, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will challenge lightweight king Eddie Alvarez at November 12’s UFC 205 despite having not defended his title since he won it last December and having instead taken two fights at welterweight in the meantime. Undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, a man who’s undoubtedly deserving of a shot at 155-pound gold, was passed over for the title shot given McGregor’s incredible star power.

“The Eagle” will instead take on Michael Johnson at UFC 205 in a bout that he hopes is a title eliminator bout. Recently speaking with Champions.co, Nurmagomedov said that he cares about the belt and not the money:

“I care about the belt,” Nurmagomedov said.“I want to finish this fight and fight for the title. I don’t care who has the title, who wins (between Alvarez and McGregor). I don’t care about money.

“I know a lot of fighters fight for the money, but money is not everything for me. I know money is very important for life, but I have money. I never use MMA to make money. MMA for me is about my life, about my blood and about everything I do all my life. Money, I can make money with other stuff. I have money. I have everything. I need the belt.”

Do you expect Nurmagomedov to get by Johnson, and if he does, will he finally receive his long awaited title shot?
