Longtime UFC standout Mike Perry has been known to ‘toe the line’ when it comes to how he acts in the public eye, but he still has a dedicated fanbase that has supported him through thick and thin. This was further evidenced when Perry held a video chat event with fans, and one fan of ‘Platinum’ went as far as gifting him $10,000 just to have a conversation.

Perry has been relatively quiet since his last UFC outing when he lost to Daniel Rodriguez by unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 2. Perry has lost four of his last five fights and his UFC future remains uncertain.

But don’t tell that to one anonymous fan who displayed his dedication to Perry’s efforts full-throttle.

“You can say what you want but I’m trying to give people the chance to connect with me, the ones who will pay aren’t the jerks that comment,” Perry tweeted recently. “You guys are the weirdos. Someone recently gave me 10k to talk to me so the only broke ones are the haters. I’d pay to talk too.”

An ‘Ask Me Anything’ type of event held by UFC fighter Mike Perry resulted in one fan gifting him $10,000 to video chat with the MMA brawler

Fans in the replies were in awe by Perry’s comments that one fan paid ten grand just to have a conversation.

Perry has hinted at a potential transition to boxing to fight Jake Paul or another rising talent, but he hasn’t completely eliminated the possibility of making another run in MMA and the UFC. For now, it’s unclear what Perry’s future holds and the UFC brass has been coy about whether or not they’d be willing to re-sign him.

Perry has had a controversy-filled run in MMA, but he remains a fighter through it all and is respected by many fans. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up next.

What is your reaction to Mike Perry’s story? Do you think he’ll fight again in the UFC?

Sean Strickland Wants To Meet Belal Muhammad In The Desert & Do ‘Some Weird Sh*t’ To Him

In a recent social media back and forth back between Sean Strickland and Belal Muhammad, Strickland shared his ‘fantasies’. about what he ‘would do’ to Muhammad.

Ever since Strickland’s win against Uriah Hall in July, the middleweight contender has quickly garnered a reputation for his outlandish comments and eccentric personality. Initially beginning with his comments in his post-fight interviews following the win. From he’d probably end up “cooking meth in a trailer” if he hadn’t made it to the UFC, to his addiction to adult content. He went on to say in the same interview “I would love nothing more than to kill somebody in the ring. Nothing more. It would make me super happy.”

Strickland also made similar comments on how he regretted not shooting a man in the head via his Instagram.

Strickland was scheduled to face Luke Rockhold at UFC 268 on November 6 but due to herniated discs, Rockhold withdrew from the bout. This lead to him being called out by welterweight Belal Muhammad, stating via Twitter “If they need someone for Strickland I’m down I hate that piece of trash.” Mohammad went on to state “he disrespected Palestine so I wouldn’t mind disrespecting his face”.

This lead to a heated back and forth which including Strickland stating “The next time I see you, I could just fucking backhand you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity you little fucking pussy.” But in Strickland’s most recent message he shared some rather strange thoughts.

“I want to make you an offer. You’re going to be in Vegas next week. Me and you, we can meet up in the desert dude and we can just do some weird shit together,” Strickland said in his Instagram stories. “Because it’s like, this is something that I’ve always fantasized about you know? And you are like a gazelle that wants to be a lion and you’re accepting what I want to do to you. And like dude, I want to do some weird shit to you man. Like oh man. It’s just so exciting that you’re just so okay with me doing it. Like there’s some things I’ve fantasized about for a long time and I feel like you’re going to let me do it to you.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

Although this back and forth is somewhat entertaining the reality is that the likelihood of this bout coming to fruition is extremely low. Although both are highly ranked (Strickland #7 Muhammad #9) they are in different divisions, Muhammad has never fought at middleweight and it would be on three weeks’ notice.

What do you think? Do you think Sean Strickland’s comments take it too far?

Ali Abdelaziz: Conor McGregor Would Prefer Prison Over Fighting Islam Makhachev

Ali Abdelaziz

The contentious relationship between Conor McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz hasn’t cooled enough at any time since the October 2018 fight between ‘Notorious’ and Khabib Nurmagomedov, whom Abdelaziz manages.

Abdelaziz was asked by MMA Junkie about a potential fight between McGregor and Islam Makhachev.

“At the end of the day, all these guys are gonna fight each other… If Justin Gaethje wins, he’s gonna fight for the title… If Conor McGregor wanna get one more a**-whooping from the Dagestani mafia, we can give it to him, you know. Listen, at the the end of the day he’s still talking, he still insulted people, assaulted people. Still going to jail but listen, being locked in jail or being locked with Islam Makhachev?… I think he would choose jail,” Abdelaziz responded.

Makhachev is one the the brightest young stars in the sport, quickly ascending to the #5 ranking in the lightweight division and will be on display in a couple weeks at UFC 267 against Dan Hooker, who took the fight on short notice.

When asked about the state of the rivalry, Abdelaziz was adamant that this rivalry isn’t over and will continue for a long time:

“It’s not over, this [rivalry] will never be over. It can be on the street, in the hotel. Because some of the things he said and he never apologized for them. He insulted Khabib’s father, wife and family… But guess what, he’s irrelevant… Khabib took his soul and never gave it back, he’s a man living without a soul.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

This rivalry obviously something personal for all involved and seems to be in a mode where there is no coming back. It will be interesting to see how this sentiment plays out.

How do you feel about the personal animosity between Conor McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz?

Jon Jones Francis Ngannou

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was originally assumed set to fight the former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, for his first title defense, but negotiations fell through earlier this year. Now, Ngannou isn’t losing sleep anymore if a fight with Jones doesn’t end up happening in both of their careers.

Ngannou will face Ciryl Gane early next year in a unification bout, almost a full year after he earned the belt against Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. He knocked Miocic out in their rematch and finally realized a championship dream.

In the aftermath of Jones’ latest legal issues in Las Vegas, where he was arrested on domestic violence charges, Ngannou has doubts that we’ll ever see a matchup between two of the biggest stars in the UFC.

“At this point, I don’t know much about what will happen in the future,” Ngannou told Ariel Helwani during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. “But I don’t stress about that, what will happen will happen. I wish that (the Jones) fight will happen, but I don’t know about it anymore.”

“If everything goes right, there are so many fights that you can do that would be a good fight, so you let everything go.”

Francis Ngannou was expected to face Jon Jones for his first title defense, but contract negotiations never materalized

Ngannou and Jones have both been at odds with the UFC brass over contract negotiations, most notably Jones, who hasn’t fought since early 2020. Jones vacated the light heavyweight belt after defeating Dominick Reyes in a close fight to focus on a potential run at heavyweight.

Now, Ngannou will face Gane at UFC 270 and Jones’ UFC future remains uncertain. It’s amazing how much can change within the span of just a few months.

Do you think Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones will ever happen?

Junior Dos Santos

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos sat down with MMA Junkie this week and discussed where he was at in his career. While he considered a bunch of different avenues following his UFC release, we’ve seen Dos Santos on the television by way of the up-and-coming wrestling promotion AEW.

Dos Santos will make his professional wrestling debut Friday in a six-man tag-team match. He’ll partner with AEW wrestlers Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky against Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, and Sammy Guevara. While he hasn’t yet signed an official contract with the company, he is open to the thought of being a full-time professional wrestler.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champ To Transition To Pro Wrestling?

“Not yet – but maybe.“The one responsible for this is this man right there, Dan Lambert. He brought some of us to the shows at AEW, and I was just impressed with that,” Dos Santos said. “I remember I enjoyed watching some pro wrestling matches, but I wasn’t really following it. Once I was there and I could see how things worked, I was impressed and I said, ‘Man, this is amazing. I want to be a part of it. I want to be in that ring, too.’ So things started to happen, and here we are, close to our debut.

“Why not? I’m not going to say no. I really enjoy this. I’m happy doing it. I’m enjoying participating in this and the challenge it’s been for me. It feels great, actually. I was looking forward to having a next fight and here I am, close to fighting again in a pro wrestling match, and I feel good about it.”

Dos Santos, who was released by the UFC back in March, showed an appreciation for the work the wrestlers put in and the ultimate taxing it has on the human body.

“The biggest one is to have a good performance,” Dos Santos said. “You have to put on a good show for all the crowd, all the people that will be there cheering for us. And it goes the same (as MMA) – to have a good performance and get a good victory with yourself. I’m just impressed with this whole (pro wrestling) world. Back in the day, I didn’t even imagine how big it was.

“I’m just impressed with everything and how hard these guys get prepared for this – (and) how hard it is for them, as well. You’ve got to train a lot. You’ve got to put yourself in a very good preparation to be 100 percent, to go there and have a good performance. That’s the main thing that attracted me on this thing. I said, ‘Wow, this is amazing. These guys go hard. I want to do some of that,’ and here I am doing it.”

It’s unique to see a former champion, released by the UFC, and someone that probably has his choosing between Bellator, PFL and Bare Knuckle take the pro wrestling route. It will be interesting to see how far AEW can take the former heavyweight champ. It seems like a road to success for Dos Santos is there.

For Jake Hadley, joining the UFC was a lifelong dream that apparently started sometime around his 9th birthday.

Hadley was brought on to Dana White‘s Tuesday Night Contender Series for a chance at a UFC contract. The reigning Cage Warriors and EFC flyweight champion was paired up against TUF alumni Mitch Raposo, and looked good on his way to a second round submission victory.

However, there was doubt he be given a contract at the end of the night due to him missing weight for the fight. Fortunately for Hadley, he impressed White enough to earn a contract, much to the apparent surprise of Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby (h/t Sportskeeda).

“When I left the back room, my instructions were to not sign this guy,” White said at the post-event press conference. “According to Hunter [Campbell], Sean and Mick stormed out of the room when I did and took off tonight so they’re not happy about it. I just have a gut feeling that this kid has something special and I broke all my own rules and didn’t listen to what they said, so hopefully, I’m right on this and this kid doesn’t make a d—head out of me.”

In the aftermath, Hadley has since taken to social media to express his gratitude. The 25-year-old posted a video on Instagram taken during his 9th birthday party. In it, Hadley blows out the candles on his birthday cake and is then asked what he wished for. After some reluctance to make sure he doesn’t spoil the wish, Hadley says, “What I want the most in the world? I want to be a UFC fighter.”

You can watch the video here.

“Imagine being inches away from achieving a childhood goal and thinking you blew it for the time being then getting what you have been working towards for years,” Hadley wrote in the caption. “2nd video is me at 9 years old birthday wishing I become a ufc fighter 1 day well I’ve achieved that now and next I’m coming for the belt this is my whole life work.”

Do you think Jake Hadley could be a UFC champion someday? Let us know!
