Greg Hardy will look to get back in the win column against veteran heavyweight Aleksei Oleinik in January.

Hardy is in the middle of the worst stretch of his young career, losing two straight via KO/TKO. Both of those losses were against much more experienced fighters in Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura. The 33-year-old was also a former All-Pro NFL player until a domestic violence case got him blacklisted by the league. He then transitioned to MMA full-time in 2016 and signed with the UFC in 2018.

Oleinik is also on his own little skid at this point in his career. The 44-year-old has lost three straight over the past year and a half. However, he does come into this fight with a huge amount of experience compared to Hardy. This fight will be his 77th professional fight to Hardy’s 13th. One does have to think this could be Oleinik’s last fight in the UFC given his age and his performance as of late.

With both fighters currently unranked in the heavyweight division, this fight could determine if one could get a number beside his name after this.

The bout is currently scheduled for January 22 at UFC 270. That event only has one other bout confirmed at this time. That fight is one between middleweight contenders Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier. The rest of the card should get announced in the coming days and weeks.

Congratulations are in order for Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne who recently welcomed their baby daughter into the world.

In April, the former UFC bantamweight champion announced that she was expecting her first child.

In a since-deleted home video, Rousey and Browne spoke about the heart-warming news.

“I’ve been pregnant since January, so four months,” Rousey said. “I just wanted to share with you guys a little bit of the journey we’ve been on and there’s much more to the story that we’ll be telling later.”

‘Rowdy’ later confirmed that her firstborn would be a baby girl with a unique Pokémon-themed gender reveal.

“Our gender reveal is finally here,” Rousey said. “We didn’t want to do anything that would set hundreds of acres ablaze or thousands even. Some people are idiots. We didn’t want to do that. So we’re keeping it simple, we’re keeping it safe, we’re keeping it Browsey Acres-style.”

On Monday, the WMMA legend took to social media to announce the birth of her daughter with some intimate snaps of the family. Rousey captioned the images with the baby’s name – La’akea Makalapuaokalanip? Browne.

Everyone at LowKickMMA would like to send our congratulations to Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne on the birth of their daughter.

Sean O’Malley was seriously impressed by Nick Diaz’s performance at UFC 266 and is already looking forward to seeing the former Strikeforce champion back in action.

Diaz returned from a six-year layoff to rematch Robbie Lawler this past weekend. The welterweight duo first squared off all the way back at UFC 47 in 2004. On that occasion Diaz emerged with the win, 17 years later ‘Ruthless’ got his revenge at UFC 266.

The fight delivered big time with both men going back and forth for three rounds before Diaz dropped to his knees and refused to get back to his feet forcing Herb Dean to wave off the bout.

O’Malley recapped the fight on the TimboSugarShow podcast, he said.

“That was one the sickest fights ever. Just two f***ing dogs… There’s just not a lot of guys that bring that f***ing level of hype dude.”

‘Suga’ went on to consider who might be next for Diaz. The bantamweight prospect first named Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal as potential opponents before talking up a fight between Diaz and Mike Perry.

“Kamaru (Usman)? Nick versus even Jorge (Masvidal)? Oh, Nick vs. Mike Perry could be sick,” O’Malley said. “Nick might dog him. Just outbox him. That’d be sick, Nick (vs.) Perry would be sick.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

‘Platinum’ was once an exciting prospect himself but has fallen off in recent years. The 30-year-old has lost four of his last five UFC fights and appears to be on the brink of being cut by the promotion, not that he’d mind. Perry has been open about his desire to pursue lucrative opportunities in boxing.

Diaz hasn’t recorded a win inside the Octagon since beating BJ Penn over three rounds more than a decade ago. Prior to UFC 266, he had taken a long time away from the sport after suffering a unanimous decision defeat against Anderson Silva in 2015. The result was later overturned to a no-contest after ‘The Spider’ failed his post-fight drug test.

Do you share Sean O’Malley’s excitement about a potential fight between Nick Diaz and Mike Perry?

The middleweight title eliminator between Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier has been moved to UFC 271 on February 12.

ESPN was the first to report the new date for the bout. The event is set to be headlined by Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker and is scheduled to take place in the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Barring the unexpected, this match will be widely viewed as a #1-contender bout to determine who faces the winner of Adesanya/Whittaker 2, with one of the two men potentially acting as a replacement option for the main event.

Both Brunson and Cannonier have compelling arguments for a title shot. In Brunson’s case, he is currently riding an impressive five-fight winning streak, including most recently finishing former UFC title challenger Darren Till in September. For Cannonier, he was victorious in a bout in August in defeating Kelvin Gastelum, thus making it four wins out of his last five fights.

With this adjustment, here is the updated lineup for UFC 271:

UFC Middleweight Championship Bout: Israel Adesanya(c) vs. Robert Whittaker

Jared Cannonier vs. Derek Brunson

Alex Perez vs. Matt Schnell

Alexander Hernandez vs. Renato Moicano

Roxanne Modafferi vs. Casey O’Neill

Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Sergey Morozov

Mark Madsen vs. Vinc Pichel

Fabio Cherant vs. Carlos Ulberg

Orion Cosce vs. Mike Mathetha

Maxim Grishin vs. Ed Herman

Ronnie Lawrence vs. Mana Martinez

AJ Dobson vs. Jacob Malkoun

Who do you think will emerge victorious in this middleweight title eliminator between Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier?

Jared Cannonier

A middleweight match-up with title implications between Jared Cannonier and Derek Brunson will take place at UFC 270 on January 22 according to a report from MMA Junkie.

Brunson has won five straight fights since suffering a TKO loss to Israel Adesanya in 2018. Most recently, he put on a dominant display to take out Darren Till inside three rounds at UFC Vegas 36. Prior to that, he picked up big wins over Kevin Holland and Edmen Shahbazyan.

The 37-year-old took to social media to announce he’d signed a fight contract but stopped short of announcing who his opponent is.

“BIG FIGHT news . I got the fight I wanted . I sent that contract back in 30 secs,” Brunson wrote on Twitter.

Cannonier re-established himself as a player at 185lbs when he beat Kelvin Gastelum over five rounds in August. Prior to that, he suffered a three-round decision defeat to Robert Whittaker, who now seems set to an eagerly anticipated rematch with ‘Stylebender’ for UFC gold in the near future.

UFC 270 has not been officially announced yet and no other fights are set for the card. Dana White did previously suggest that he is hoping to book a middleweight title fight for January, which would indicate Adesanya vs. Whittaker II could headline the card that will also see a new 185lb number one contender announce themselves.

Who do you think will win at UFC 270? Jared Cannonier or Derek Brunson?

EXCLUSIVE | Jiri Prochazka Praises ‘Great’ Anthony Smith On His Win Over Ryan Spann: I Like His Mindset

Jiri Prochazka

Streaking UFC light heavyweight contender, Jiri Prochazka managed to catch one-time title challenger, Anthony Smith’s impressive first round rear-naked choke win over Ryan Spann in the main event of UFC Vegas 37 last week, detailing how he was impressed by Smith’s performance, however, questioned some of his decision making in a fight he claimed was in a “50-50” sway on occasion.

Headlining for the seventh time under the UFC’s banner, Smith, a one-time light heavyweight title challenger, clinched the #4 rank in the division with an impressive opening round rear-naked choke win over renowned finisher, Spann — wrapping the former LFA champion up after a scramble on the ground.

Landing at an impressive clip throughout the opening round, the experienced and technical Smith scored 18 total strikes at a 60% clip, limiting challenger, Spann to just eight total strikes by the time the three and half minute fight had culminated.

Off the back of the win, Smith called for a rematch with fellow surging contender, Aleksandar Rakic — with the Austrian-born challenger appearing to suggest a December re-run between the two, in what could come as a light heavyweight title-eliminator.

Making big waves since his UFC debut back on ‘Fight Island’ in July of last year, Prochazka, a former Rizin FF light heavyweight titleholder confirmed during an interview with LowKick MMA reporter, James Lynch that he would be acting as a backup to next month’s UFC 267 light heavyweight championship headliner between reigning champion, Jan Blachowicz and Minas Gerais veteran, Glover Teixeira.

When asked for his thoughts on Smith’s performance against the Dana White‘s Contender Series alum, Spann — Prochazka praised the mindset on display from the Nebraska native, but explained that portion of the fight could have gone either way.

Little chaos (chaotic) but, the hands were on the place (target) — good,” Jiri Prochazka replied. “Yeah, good — great, nice fight, but there was a lot of moments where it was 50-50, where (Ryan) Spann can take a win, like the same with (Anthony) Smith.

I don’t like it — I don’t like this style,” Jiri Prochazka explained. “If you keep the — you need to keep all the time the fight, the same pressure and win the fight. And in this fight, sometimes it was, ‘Wow, Smith, what are you doing? But it was a nice fight. And I like his mindset so, he’s a good man.

Undefeated in his last 12 professional walks, Czech Republic native, Prochazka scored a first round knockout win over UFC alum, C.B. Dollaway to successfully defend his light heavyweight crown before signing with the UFC in January of last year.

Debuting at UFC 251 in Abu Dhabi, UAE — Prochazka stopped one-time light heavyweight title challenger, Volkan Oezdemir with a stunning one-punch second round knockout.

Headlining in his last outing in May at UFC Vegas 25, Prochazka stopped two-time title challenger, Dominick Reyes with a surefire Knockout of the Year contender — dropping the Hesperia native with a shocking second round spinning-back elbow
