Henry Cejudo is riding high in the MMA world. The two-division UFC titleholder picked up his second belt in a come-from-behind TKO finish of Marlon Moraes at June 8’s UFC 238. Adding the bantamweight title to his already-held flyweight gold, Cejudo claimed he was the sport’s new pound-for-pound king. That theory isn’t necessarily getting much […]

Jon Jones has reacted to former UFC star Matt Hamill’s recent comments about the attempts to overturn Jones’ disqualification loss to the former Ultimate Fighter competitor.

This week it was revealed that UFC President Dana White is working with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) in an attempt to overturn the only loss in the career of the UFC light heavyweight champion. The loss was back in 2009 where he got disqualified against Hamill for using 12-6 elbows.

Hamill saw the support by the likes of Jones, White, and even Joe Rogan. Thus, he took to his official Twitter account where he wrote the following:

“[Joe Rogan, Dana White, Jon Jones] to supports overturning Jon Jones DQ loss to me to a no contest? Well I’m not complaining about jones in the past what he used illegal substance when he fought me.12/6 elbow is illegal. Back to back wins. How about rematch?”

It didn’t take long for Jones to respond as he wrote the following on Instagram:

“Let’s set the record straight, definitely not looking for a rematch.”

He then added this in the comments of his own post:

“Honestly, I was just blindsided. He’s a fellow upstate New York guy. Over these years I’ve always given him mad love. Funny how people are. I’m not even mad at him though, I understand it’s his claim to fame. Just wish he would have went about this a different way. It’s whatever.”

Jones also commented on Hamill’s post, calling his former foe out for “the disrespect” he has shown him as of late when Jones has never had a bad thing to say about his fellow New Yorker:

“Damn Matt, the disrespect. Thought you were smarter than this. Honestly I’ve never said a bad thing about you.”

What do you make of the back-and-forth between “Bones” and Hamill?

Junior dos Santos is confident heading into his fight with Francis Ngannou, and has offered his prediction for the bout.

Their heavyweight clash could easily serve as a No. 1-contender fight with an impressive win for either fighter. For the former UFC heavyweight champion, he doesn’t see the bout going the distance due to the knockout power that both he and Ngannou bring to the Octagon.

With that said, JDS is predicting that he can finish “the most dangerous man in MMA today” in the first round come fight night:

“It’s going to be my 12th main event in the UFC, so I’m used to fighting five rounds,” dos Santos told MMA Fighting. “I’ve been training for five rounds for a while. Honestly, it doesn’t make much different adding more rounds, especially because I expect this to be a really quick fight. Ngannou moves forward a lot, goes full speed in the first round. My goal is to make him pay in his first mistake, so I don’t think this fight will go much longer.”

“I think this fight has everything to end in the first round,” dos Santos said. “I move really well, so he can expect that from me. Moving a lot, but always attacking, being aggressive. He must be ready to dance. Muhammad Ali-style. Fly like a butterfly, sting like Cigano — not like a bee [laughs].”

“Cigano” picked up a second-round TKO over Derrick Lewis in the headliner of UFC on ESPN+ 4 on March 9, 2019. Before that fight, the former UFC heavyweight champion scored a second-round TKO win over Tai Tuivasa in the UFC Adelaide headliner. After the win, he laid out the challenge to Ngannou, as he thinks that fight makes sense and gets him one step closer to a title shot. Now, he has his wish.

“JDS” vs. Ngannou will serve as the headliner for the UFC Minneapolis show tomorrow night (Sat. June 29, 2019).

Longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan has shared his take on why the biggest star the UFC has under contract hasn’t fought recently.

He did so while talking with on a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” with guest, Will Harris. According to Rogan, he thinks Conor McGregor is having some fun and enjoying his inflated bank account. Simply put, McGregor hasn’t fought because he does what he wants and when he wants to do it:

“They wanted him to do [the fight].There was talk of him doing a Cowboy fight, but he wanted to be a main event. The UFC wants main events to all be big-time championship fights. They think somehow that having no title on the line, it wouldn’t be that valuable.”

Rogan is referencing McGregor’s rumored fight with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The title contender had been pushing for a fight against the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion. So much so that there was even talk that the fight could take place at UFC 239 on July 6, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Obviously, that fight didn’t happen. “The Notorious” suffered his second-ever loss under the UFC banner this past October. Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted him at UFC 229, which marked his first official title defense as UFC lightweight champion.
