UFC president Dana White recently spoke to Yahoo! Sports about Ronda Rousey and her career so far in the UFC. He praised the former UFC women’s bantamweight champ, but acknowledged that Conor McGregor’s star power may soon overshadow Rousey’s.

“Everything this woman does, she’s incredible,” White told Yahoo! Sports. “She’s an unbelievable athlete, personality, friend, partner … you name it, Ronda Rousey is amazing. I think Ronda Rousey is the biggest star in the UFC, but let me tell you what, Conor McGregor is nipping at her heels.”

Rousey lost her women’s bantamweight championship to Holly Holm by knockout at UFC 193 back in November. They were rumored to have a rematch at UFC 200, but Rousey has requested more time off from competition.

Rafael dos Anjos Says Conor McGregor’s “Traitor” Comments “Make No Sense”

mcgregor-dos-anjos-2

Earlier this week Conor McGregor posted a message online calling his upcoming UFC 197 opponent Rafael dos Anjos a “traitor.” The lightweight champion has fired back at McGregor, saying McGregor’s claims make no sense and that he’s “out of his mind.” Here’s what Ajos had to say:

“It doesn’t make any sense,” Dos Anjos told MMAFighting.com. “We have a lot of Brazilians in the United States. It doesn’t mean we’re traitors to our country. I’ve got kids, and I had to move for different things like better wrestling training partners here. I think that was a frustrated way to try to win the Brazilian fans. This guy is out of his mind. He’s going to try to do his best to try to mess with my head. I don’t hate him, but the Brazilians do. Brazil is on my side.”

Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor will meet at UFC 197 on March 5th in Las Vegas. Live round-by-round coverage of the event starts at 10 PM ET on MMANews.com.

Lawler and Diaz fought back at UFC 47 in 2004, which saw Lawler suffer his only knockout loss in his career. Lawler is currently the UFC welterweight champion and does not have an opponent lined up for his next fight. Diaz is suspended from competing until August 1st, so the fight couldn’t take place until later this year if the UFC decided to pursue it.

Cain Velasquez Says Training With Cormier & Rockhold Will Help Him Win At UFC 196

cain-velasquez-2

Former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez is currently training with UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier and UFC middleweight champ Luke Rockhold at AKA. Velasquez recently spoke with MMAjunkie about what it’s like training with the two champions in California.

“‘DC,’ just being a good workout partner in general, for everything, and obviously being one of my coaches, for him to have that knowledge of what I need to do to win this fight (is important),” Velasquez told MMAjunkie. “And Luke, being a guy that’s tall and lengthy with strong kicks, a guy that has good hands and is hard to hit, and very strong jiu-jitsu – we have that as well. We have everything we need here. Sometimes we’ll bring in different guys, but pretty much with those two guys here even by themselves, it’s awesome just to have them.”

Velasquez is fighting Fabricio Werdum for the heavyweight title at UFC 196 on February 6th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on PPV and the prelims air on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. There will be full live round-by-round coverage of the entire event right here on MMANews.com.

This video is from last year, but it features Rousey and Shayna Baszler practicing some choreographed wrestling spots together. Last year Ronda Rousey revealed not only that she will “definitely” return to pro wrestling, but one day she hopes to capture the WWE Divas championship.

“What I’d really like to do and I don’t know if I’ll have the time and I just want to do so many things, but I want to be remembered as one of the greatest fighters of all time at any sport,” Rousey said back in October. “I’d love to have the chance to be the [WWE] Divas world champion and just be the best of everything at one point.”

A second video of her practicing choreographed moves shows her taking a “worked” hit from a male wrestler, then taking him down. Check out that, and a video of Rousey’s WrestleMania appearance on page 2.

In the above video, you can see Rousey practicing more WWE-style moves with a different partner. Rousey appeared at WrestleMania last year alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to mix it up with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Here’s a clip of what happened:
