He seemed a little less sure whether or no Jon Fitch is truly the #1 contender at welterweight, but felt that Matt Hughes is definitely back in the mix.
Finally, after ripping Roy Nelson for awhile, White changes his tune, giving him nothing but respect for his performance against Junior Dos Santos.
If you think about it, and this is easy for us to say since Chael Sonnen hasn’t been belittling us, our friends and sense of fashion, Anderson Silva might want to thank his next opponent for his over the top trash talk. It’s probably fair to say that if not for Chael’s vicious verbal assault […]
If you think about it, and this is easy for us to say since Chael Sonnen hasn’t been belittling us, our friends and sense of fashion, Anderson Silva might want to thank his next opponent for his over the top trash talk. It’s probably fair to say that if not for Chael’s vicious verbal assault heading into UFC 117, maybe there still would be a ton of focus on Silva’s WTF? antics vs. Demian Maia. Of course, the post-fight discussion took on a new life following his awful UFC 112 showing, due to Dana White’sinsistence that Silva would get canned if he ever acted that way again.
Now we’re not trying to say Silva’s performance against Maia and his subsequent issues with White (and a lot of fans) has completely dropped off the radar screen, but you have to admit, Sonnen’s zingers have certainly dominated the headlines. All this aside, however, White continues to insist that if Silva does in fact have the balls to repeat his UFC 112 actions, Mr. #1 P4P will be unemployed (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quote).
“It’s about acting like a lunatic,” White said. “If he ever goes out and acts like a nut, like he did [at UFC 112], yes, I would cut him.”
Somehow we’re thinking this isn’t going to be an issue come Saturday night—certain things have been said; now it’s go time. To bet on tomorrow’s ‘this should be sick’ card, head here.

So yesterday we joked that if Chael Sonnen was still making a political run for the Oregon House, his recent comments on Pro MMA Radio regarding Lance Armstrong, likely wouldn’t have been too helpful in the PR deparment. In this day and age of around the clock media coverage, with a bazillion internet sites looking for anything to run as a headline, stating that the 7 time Tour De France winner cheated, and further, that Armstrong’s well documented battle with cancer was as a result of allegedly taking PEDs, well, that’s kind of a sh-t load of fodder for your political opponents no?
While Sonnen no longer has to concern himself about a political campaign (which if he were this story would likely be plastered on something like the Huffington Post … oh wait a minute…), no one should be surprised that the talented fighter has already been asked for a ‘follow up.’ While speaking to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, Sonnen outright denied making the comments, stating he’s never talked to Pro MMA Radio’s Larry Pepe…WTF? When asked specifically about Armstrong, Chael responded:
“I never spoke of Lance Armstrong ever. Never. Not until just now.”
Now, we’re far from experts in anything, much less voice analysis, so check out the show for yourself. Head to around the one hour / thirty mark of the show to hear Sonnen, or some dude that sounds just like him, lay into Armstrong. If the whole Twitter fiasco wasn’t bad enough… this is just outright messed up.
Oh yeah, this site is about MMA; if you want to throw some dough down on UFC 117, head here.

Tried to corner Jackson on if he thought Vlad wasn’t a worthy opponent for Jones, but dude is a pro, and no such luck.

If you’re having a tough day then it likely got much, much, much better, having seen the above pic. Yes, we’ve conceded in the past that the world is a much prettier place with Kenda Perez walking around, and if you haven’t seen her host Spike’s “Best of Pride” your life is incomplete (not just […]
If you’re having a tough day then it likely got much, much, much better, having seen the above pic. Yes, we’ve conceded in the past that the world is a much prettier place with Kenda Perez walking around, and if you haven’t seen her host Spike’s “Best of Pride” your life is incomplete (not just because she’s hot as hell but because Pride was the sh-t).
The new edition of the UFC Magazine features Randy Couture on the front, as well as, a multiple pic spread of Kenda (more importantly). We’d be remiss if we didn’t give huge props to Cage Potato for running the above picture of Kenda, including several others from the shoot. Now run along and be happy.
While Chael Sonnen has been capturing headlines over the last few weeks for his ‘okay what now?’ trash talk, it’s easy to forget that there are plenty of other dudes in the UFC, who also possess a remarkable gift for controversial gab. While Chael Sonnen has been capturing headlines over the last few weeks for his ‘okay what now?’ trash talk, it’s easy to forget that there are plenty of other dudes in the UFC, who also possess a remarkable gift for controversial gab. Of course, if you’ve followed Roy Nelson since his arrival in the UFC (or before), you know that you don’t head for another web site when the heavyweight’s talking.
In addition to this Saturday’s tilt between Sonnen and middleweight champ Anderson Silva, the bout between Nelson and Junior dos Santos has a teee-onne riding on the outcome. Dana White has already stated that the winner will get a crack at whoever wins between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez on Oct. 23rd. Well, while speaking to MMA Fighting’s Ben Fowlkes, Nelson made the argument that dos Santos is “probably the No.1 guy out there”, by breaking down Lesnar’s recent win over Shane Carwin.
“Carwin, he seems like he trains for five, one-minute rounds. That’s his championship fight, apparently,” said Nelson. “But no, you learn a lot. Like Carwin, he quits. He basically quit with Brock and he tapped out. That means you quit. It’s pretty self-explanatory. Then Brock, you learned that if you don’t give him an opportunity to come back on you, if you don’t give him that hole to come back, he won’t come back. Shane just gave him the chance to come back. He didn’t put him away.”
Don’t hold back on our account Roy. Nelson also cited Carwin’s recent episode of ‘lactic acidosis,’ as to why he prefers to be “fat”, rather than a muscular monstrosity like Shane. See; being fat does have its perks. To bet on UFC 117 head here.
