Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET, the UFC will kick off it’s first ever event for UFC on Fox with the heavyweight championship on the line in the main event.
Current champion Cain Velasquez (9-0) will take on Junior dos Santos (13-1) in what is sure to be a toe-to-toe slugfest in the octagon.
Some people may tune in for their first ever UFC fight tomorrow night on Fox, and they are sure to get a show.
This one is not going to go the distance.
Velasquez is coming off a fight with one of the more feared fighters in the UFC.
On October 23rd, just 4:12 into the first round, the 29-year-old won the heavyweight championship by TKO in his fight against Brock Lesnar.
In fact, Velasquez has won eight of his nine fights by knockout. The only time he failed to do so was in 2009 against Cheick Kongo. He won that fight by unanimous decision.
Don’t get it twisted—I’m not saying that Velasquez is sure to win this fight. Junior dos Santos is no slouch, either.
Santos has seen his two most recent fights go the distance, both of which he won unanimously. However, prior to that, he had never been in a fight that went to the judge’s scorecards.
If you don’t want to pay the money for the Pacquiao and Marquez fight tomorrow, be sure to tune into Fox to check out this showdown.

LOS ANGELES – Dana White is a fight promoter. His purpose to sell the public on fight cards and main events are included in that responsibility.
So, with that being the case, the UFC boss is more than willing to tell people why they should care about the UFC on Fox event that takes place this Saturday.
In the main event, heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez will take on No. 1 contender Junior dos Santos. White all but guarantees an exciting fight.
The UFC boss says there were a number of fights he and Zuffa CEO Lorenzo Fertitta thought could headline UFC on Fox. While he’s not sharing which potential fights those were, White does admit that nothing made more sense than this heavyweight title fight.
Promoting fights as fight promoters do.
“Lorenzo [Fertitta] and I sat down and we talked about a lot of different fights we can make. This one made sense,” White says. “Not only with the heavyweight championship of the world, but the fight between these two athletes. These guys are monsters, man. When have you seen either of these guys in a boring fight that was just horrible? The answer is never.”
A great percentage of Velasquez’s fans are from a Mexican background. With dos Santos being from Brazil, some have even gone to the extent of making this a fight between countries. Like the Brazilian and Mexican national soccer teams, Velasquez and “JDS” are fighting for the pride of their nations.
However, the UFC president feels this is more than a fight between two countries; this fight is more global.
“This isn’t one of those fights that’s Mexico versus Brazil,” says the UFC president. “People from all over the world are watching this fight. On Twitter, on the Internet, people are going crazy.
“This is a global heavyweight fight.”
When the network deal with Fox was originally announced, White stated there were several networks in talks with the UFC. Major networks were all in the mix for who would be the first broadcast the Las Vegas-based promotion’s fights. Fox won the chase, according to White, and he couldn’t be happier.
It’s been a long 10-year journey for White and the Fertittas, but things have finally got to the next level. On Saturday night, they’ll do what they’ve been planning to do since purchasing the UFC in 2001; they’ll make their dreams become reality.
“It’s the biggest night in UFC history this Saturday night,” White proclaims. “And this is a dream come true. This is what we’ve been working for… the perfect deal at the perfect time with the perfect guys.”

We are only one day away from what may go down as the most important event in UFC and MMA history, which means it is time for UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos to hit the scales before stepping into the Octagon for battle at UFC on Fox 1.
The two elite heavyweights, along with the rest of the competitors for Saturday’s UFC on Fox 1 event, are scheduled to weigh-in at approximately 7 p.m. ET on Friday. The weigh-ins will stream live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on the above video player.
UFC on Fox 1 will take place at the Honda Center November 12. The event will be the UFC’s first-ever appearance on network television. With a one-fight televised card to carry the UFC’s debut on FOX, all the momentum is being put behind UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Junior dos Santos.
Both come into their fight undefeated in the UFC. The fight will be the test run for a new seven-year deal that the UFC has signed with the network television broadcasting company.
Although only one fight will be televised, the undercard will be broadcast on Facebook. It’s worth taking a look at some of the more significant fights that won’t make it onto TV.
These are predictions for five of the card’s fights, including the main event.

Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will make history on Saturday night when they headline the inaugural UFC on Fox event.
For Velasquez (9-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) it’s his opportunity to successfully defend the heavyweight championship for the first time on network television and dos Santos (13-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) is attempting to bring the sport’s most prestigious gold back to Brazil.
Both men own perfect marks inside the Octagon and combined they total 19 career finishes.
Considering the magnitude of this fight, BleacherReport.com gathered insight from some of the sport’s most knowledgeable coaches and talented fighters.
“Well, it’s a tough one, (but) I like Junior dos Santos, (the) kid trains hard and is hungry for this title. Having trained with him before, I have seen first hand what he can do, he has amazing hips and athleticism to stop the first shot on a takedown, what he lacks is the ability to stop the reshoot or chain wrestling that Cain brings to the table.
“You can’t teach a non-wrestler how to deal with a heavy grind that a high level wrestler brings to the table, but there is a way to neutralize it or even deal with it to create openings. With that said, I don’t give any one of them an edge in Boxing striking, Cain is a very good Boxer and so is JDS. There is huge edge in power and ability to control long range by JDS. The Cardio/Conditioning edge goes to Cain.
“So, for the odds makers, Cain has an advantage, but for me I’m picking JDS, he is an awesome kid and I can’t wait for this fight. He has the tools to shock everyone… So, I’m going with JDS!”
“I think dos Santos has this one. I think his boxing and range will be too much for Cain and Cain will not be able to get in on dos Santos to take him down. I’m picking dos Santos, 2nd round KO.”
“I think Cain’s short to mid-range striking will work well for him in this fight. dos Santos, due to his reach will most likely stay outside. Cain’s explosiveness and footwork along with his kicks will serve him well in this fight. I’ve got Cain taking the decision.”
“Javier Mendez is a great coach and Cain is one tough dude! (He’s) still a young champ, if he gets past dos he will probably become a great champ. dos has some strange power. He has very, very explosive hands! However, a betting man would have to think Cain edges him with leg kicks and grappling. I can’t wait to see who the Gods smile on.”
“It’s gonna be a war, but I’ll go with dos Santos. Once Junior tags him, it’s gonna be just a matter of time. dos Santos will bring this belt back to Brazil!”
“This fight could go 5 rounds if Velasquez can’t close the distance. JDS has one of the best jabs in the business (and) he could keep Cain in the middle of the cage all night long landing all kinds of shots. If JDS establishes the jab, Cain’s face could end up just like Carwin’s.
“JDS moves really well and has tons of feints to keep Cain really frustrated. If Velasquez gets the TDs (takedowns), I would like to see how JDS’s bjj (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) has evolved to keep Cain from doing damage from the top position. That’s Cain’s only chance to win it.”
“I think that if the fight goes past the first round, Cain will outwork JR. That being said, Cain will have to navigate those first 5 mins. with extreme caution as JR will be at full speed and power. I predict Cain by TKO, 4th round.”

(Fun fact: Clay Guida has never owned a single piece of silverware.)
According to a new report from MMA Junkie, the UFC plans to give the winner of tomorrow night’s UFC on FOX bout between Clay Guida and Ben Henderson a title shot against lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Sources indicate that the fight would likely take place at UFC 144 (February 26; Saitama, Japan).
Unfortunately, Guida vs. Henderson won’t be part of the “Velasquez vs. Dos Santos” TV broadcast — which kicks off at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on FOX — but viewers can watch it as part of the undercard stream on Facebook and FOXSports.com. Currently, Henderson (-250) is a strong favorite over Guida (+236).

Frankie Edgar is coming off his monumental knockout of Gray Maynard at UFC 136 last month. It was the third title retention for Edgar, who hasn’t lost a fight since his sole career defeat against Maynard in April 2008.
