UFC on ESPN+ 20 will go down early tomorrow morning (Sat. October 26, 2019) from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will be keeping a close eye on the main event, which features Demian Maia vs. Ben Askren in a five-round welterweight collision.

The winner will no doubt be considered to be the best grappler in the UFC. We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC Singapore staff predictions for the Maia vs. Askren main event. Check them out below.

UFC Singapore Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

While some MMA fans may not like it when two grapplers go at it, I, for one, can not wait for this fight. Ben Askren vs. Demian Maia will no doubt solidify who the best grappler in the UFC truly is. Maia has struggled in the past with high-caliber wrestlers, which is exactly what he’ll get with Askren – who is no slouch in the jiu-jitsu department himself. I see Askren getting the decision win in this one, possibly picking up a stoppage via ground-and-pound. (Prediction: Ben Askren)

Abhinav Kini:

I expect this to be a great matchup but I’m not entirely sure it’ll be completely on the ground. Askren is a high-level grappler but it would be too risky for him to fully engage with Maia down there, especially as it could damage his title hopes if he loses twice in a row. He doesn’t have the best striking either, so much so that Maia may even have the advantage there. I’m leaning towards Maia. (Prediction: Demian Maia)

Cole Shelton:

Ben Askren vs. Demian Maia is a grappler’s delight that is a very interesting fight. Askren has to be smart on his takedowns or he will get caught by a submission. We have also seen Maia struggle against wrestlers which will happen here as Askren will use his wrestling and pressure to grind out a decision win. (Prediction: Ben Askren)

UFC Boston goes down tomorrow night (Fri. October 18, 2019) from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Headlining the card is a light heavyweight bout between former middleweight king Chris Weidman and rising young contender Dominick Reyes. The bout will be Weidman’s debut at 205 pounds.

We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC Boston staff predictions for the battle. Check them out below.

UFC Boston Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

This is a very interesting matchup. Reyes is very well-rounded, but hasn’t faced a wrestler of Weidman’s caliber yet. Not to mention Weidman will have more mass on him at 205 pounds. However, Weidman has been subject to knockouts as of late, and jumping up to light heavyweight where fighters hit harder might be an issue. I have a funny feeling Reyes gets it done with a TKO finish and punches his ticket to a title fight with Jon Jones (Prediction: Dominick Reyes)

Abhinav Kini:

Ideally, I would pick Dominick Reyes. However, his last performance against Volkan Oezdemir didn’t really impress me and like many, I thought he should have lost that one. I don’t think he’s faced a true wrestler yet either and Weidman has had a lot of time to recover from his last loss and will be better served by not having to cut an extra 20 pounds. I have Weidman winning a decision. (Prediction: Chris Weidman)

Cole Shelton:

Dominick Reyes vs. Chris Weidman is a super interesting fight. It could go one of two ways, in my opinion. Either Reyes knocks Weidman out or Weidman uses his wrestling and his experience to help him ride out a decision win or a submission win. I favor the latter with Weidman getting it done. (Prediction: Chris Weidman)

Tomorrow (Sat. September 14, 2019) UFC on ESPN+ 16 goes down from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

In the main event, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will take on Justin Gaethje in lightweight action. It’s sure to be one of the best fights of the year as both men are two of the most game fighters under the Las Vegas-based promotion’s banner. The winner could very well be next in line for the 155-pound title.

Check out our UFC Vancouver staff predictions below.

UFC Vancouver Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

What a great matchup this is going to be. Two of the most exciting strikers in the game going head-to-head. Cerrone never fails to put on an entertaining fight, and Gaethje has been on a hot streak with back-to-back vicious knockout finishes. I see no reason for “The Highlight” to stop now. I got Gaethje finishing this one early with a TKO or knockout. (Prediction: Justin Gaethje)

Abhinav Kini:

This is a great fight for many reasons but I don’t see it being the war everyone expects. I think it’ll end up like Justin Gaethje’s last two fights — a first-round knockout. I feel “The Highlight” has learned a lot from his two losses and is more patient yet deadly at the same time now. His pressure along with his leg kicks will be too much for Donald Cerrone who has traditionally wilted against those types of fighters. (Prediction: Justin Gaethje)

Andrew Ravens:

Either guy could win this fight, which makes it hard for a prediction. Cerrone is great at rebounding after losing to a top tier name, which he just did to Tony Ferguson. On the flip side, Gaethje is right up there in the division and could beat Cerrone if he shows up with the right mindset. This will be a fun battle that will steal the show but I have Cerrone getting it done by split decision. (Prediction: Donald Cerrone)

Brady Briggs:

This is one hell of a matchup. Cerrone’s certainly more of a threat on the ground than Gaethje, but will the fight go to the ground? It’s hard to say, each guy loves to fight on the feet, as each of them are incredibly skilled there. Cerrone is 28-0-1 in professional kickboxing and Gaehtje has 17 knockout wins out of 20 total professional MMA wins. I think Gaethje finishes Cerrone with strikes at some point by round three, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it go the other way. Justin Gaethje via TKO. (Prediction: Justin Gaethje)

Cole Shelton:

Cowboy-Gaethje is one of the best fights of the year. Two fan favorites and fighters that always bring it will collide. For me, there are two possible outcomes. The first being Gaethje comes out hot like he always does and Cerrone starting slow, which he is prone to doing, and Gaethje knocking Cowboy out in the first or second.

The other, if Cerrone can get this fight to the 4th or 5th round, we have seen Gaethje gas and he could TKO him late in the fight. But I think Gaethje will win by second-round finish. (Prediction: Justin Gaethje)

Tomorrow (Sat. September 7, 2019) UFC 242 goes down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Abu Dhabi, and will feature a 155-pound title main event.

Undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov will unify his title against interim champion Dustin Poirier. It’s truly the toughest test of each man’s career, as Khabib takes on an extremely well-rounded fighter, while Poirier faces, arguably, the most dominant champion in mixed martial arts (MMA) history.

We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our predictions for tomorrow afternoon’s main event. Check them out here.

UFC 242 Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

This is such an interesting fight. Poirier is probably the most well-rounded fighter Khabib has fought yet. He has the power to knock out just about anyone and has some phenomenal training partners at American Top Team (ATT) to help him prepare for “The Eagle’s” grappling. Of course, it’s a completely different animal when you’re actually in there with him.

I don’t think Khabib has fought a striker quite like Poirier before, who is also skilled in the jiu-jitsu department. But Khabib has given me no reason to believe anyone can stop him at this point. Especially in front of a supportive crowd like he’ll have in Abu Dhabi. (Prediction: Khabib Nurmagomedov)

Abhinav Kini:

Dustin Poirier proved me wrong when he outpointed Max Holloway to win the interim lightweight title. However, he will now not only be facing a longtime lightweight but one of the most dominant fighters in the UFC in Khabib Nurmagomedov. Poirier has good jiu-jitsu and some slick boxing, but I just don’t think it’s enough to really challenge Nurmagomedov, let alone shock the world. (Prediction: Khabib Nurmagomedov)

Andrew Ravens:

This fight is actually more simple than people like to think. Poirier must stay on his feet and try to survive. That’s his fight while Khabib will focus on avoiding any big shots while going for a takedown.

I would hope that Poirier would come out with the game plan of throwing a crazy amount of strikes in order to prevent such a takedown from the champion but up to this point, I haven’t seen anyone do that. Khabib is the favorite for a reason and walks away with the unanimous decision win. (Prediction: Khabib Nurmagomedov)

Brady Briggs:

What a great main event we have for UFC 242. Honestly, I have a feeling “The Diamond” may pull off the upset via knockout. He just hits so hard and connects with about everyone. Either he wins it that way, via decision, or Nurmagomedov takes a decision. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see either of those happen. My final prediction is Poirier by TKO in round two or three. (Prediction: Dustin Poirier)

Cole Shelton:

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier will be a fantastic fight and I may be in the minority that this will be a much closer fight than many expect. Look, Khabib said it right, Poirier is the toughest challenge of his career. He is a much tougher fight than Conor McGregor given how underrated his takedown defense and jiu-jitsu is.

There is a possibility he can stuff the takedowns and use his boxing and kicks to keep the range and piece up Khabib. However, as long as Nurmagomedov is undefeated it is hard to bet against him and I think he will use his wrestling to win this fight but I expect it to go the distance and Poirier win some rounds and make this a much closer fight. (Prediction: Khabib Nurmagomedov)
