Ryan Spann made quick work of former one-time title challenger Ovince St. Preux in his return to the Octagon on Saturday night at UFC 307.
Things got started slow between Spann and St. Preux with both fighters trading calf kicks. After a brief stoppage due to a low blow on Spann, ‘Superman’ came out hot and stuck OSP with a nasty right hand that had St. Preux backpedaling quickly. As St. Preux retreated to the fence, Spann rushed in which prompted OSP to shoot for a desperation takedown.
That allowed Spann to snatch St. Preux’s neck and lock in a tight guillotine choke forcing the Haitian sensation to tap out 95 seconds into the scrap.
Official Result: Ryan Spann def. Ovince St. Preux via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:35 of Round 1.

Renato Moicano made it four in a row at UFC Paris after he bloodied Benoit Saint-Denis in the first round.
‘Money’ flexed his ground game early, securing an easy takedown in the opening minute of their UFC Paris headliner on Saturday. From there, Moicano spent the majority of the round battering and bloodying the ‘God of War’ with a variety of brutal ground and pound strikes.
To his credit, Saint-Denis survived the first five minutes, but he slowly walked back to his corner already looking like a fighter who had just gone 25 hard minutes. With multiple cuts over his right eye and a horrifically swollen left eye, it seemed to be a matter of time before Moicano would finish the job.
Surprisingly, Saint-Denis bounced back in the second round and actually took the round on all three judge’s scorecards. Unfortunately, the French native was not allowed to come out for round three after referee Marc Goddard called in the cageside physician to check on Saint-Denis’ eye.
Indicating he was unable to see out of his right eye, the bout was called off, and ‘Money’ was declared the winner via a technical knockout.
Official Result: Renato Moicano def. Benoit Saint-Denis via TKO (doctor’s stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2.

Just when it looked like France’s Fares Ziam was on his way to a decisive decision victory, he put Matt Frevola’s lights out with a perfectly placed knee in the UFC Paris main card opener.
Riding a three-fight win streak, ‘Smile Killer’ was in the middle of a dominant performance against Frevola at Accor Arena and was well en route to a sweep on the scores. As we approached the three-minute mark of the third round, Ziam had Frevola’s back against the fence.
As ‘The Steamrolla’ attempted to turn himself to go belly-to-belly, Ziam launched a knee that caught Frevola flush on the chin and sent him crashing to the canvas.
With Frevola out on impact, the referee quickly stepped in and called for the stoppage.
Official Result: Fares Ziam def. Matt Frevola via KO (knee) at 2:59 of Round 3.

Despite looking rough on the scale 36 hours earlier, rising contender Ailin Perez delivered another impressive showing inside the Octagon at UFC Paris.
Squaring off with Russian standout Darya Zheleznyakova in The City of Light, Perez promptly put her clinch game and grappling skills to work. Approaching the final minute of the round, Perez managed to muscle Zheleznyakova down to the mat and quickly worked her way into position for an arm triangle. Locking in the hold from half guard, ‘The Iron Lady’ had no choice but to tap out, handing Perez her first finish inside the Octagon.
Immediately following the tap out, Perez popped to her feet and jumped straight into her patented twerking celebration. Adding insult to injury, she practically did it right in Zheleznyakova’s face and readjusted even as the Russian tried to move away from the Argentinian’s ample backside.
With the win, Perez is now 4-1 under the UFC banner and 11-2 overall.

Valentina Shevchenko reclaimed the UFC flyweight championship with a dominant performance against Alexa Grasso at Noche UFC.
Determined to close out the first-ever trilogy bout in women’s UFC history, ‘Bullet’ came out looking to flex her ground game early, securing an incredible eight takedowns and securing more than 10 minutes of control time against the Guadalajara native. To her credit. Grasso offered up a variety of submission attempts off her back, including a tight guillotine attempt in the fourth round that had Shevchenko gasping for air.
Luckily for ‘Bullet’ fans, Shevchenko managed to pop her head out and maintained control for the remainder of the fight, guaranteeing that she would once again feel the weight of UFC gold wrapped around her 125-pound waist.

Sean Brady continued his climb up the welterweight rankings with a dominant performance against Gilbert Burns in the UFC Vegas 97 headliner on Saturday night.
Brady quickly established himself as the faster fighter on his feet, out-landing Burns with a variety of combinations and mixing in his grappling to keep the one-time title challenger under 10 significant strikes throughout the opening round. However, Burns got things off to a hot start in the second, landing a nasty knee up the middle that wobbled Brady. That prompted Brady to clinch up and take a few moments against the fence to shake off the cobwebs.
Burns’ offense saw a significant uptick in the second with him becoming just the second fighter to ever take Brady down to the mat inside the Octagon, though he wasn’t able to accomplish much with the takedown and likely ended the second stanza down 2-0.
Brady continued to dominate things on the feet despite Burns’ best efforts to bring pressure and put the rising contender on his backfoot. Brady ended the third round with a big right hand followed by a successful takedown, picking up Burns and sending him crashing back down to the canvas.
In the opening 30 seconds of the fourth, we saw dueling low blows as both Brady and Burns hit their opponent below the belt by accident. Fortunately, both fighters were able to recover quickly, getting us right back to the action.
Brady largely dominated the last two rounds minus the final minute of the fourth with Burns managed to score some control time, but not much else. Burns was fishing for the Hail Mary shot in the fifth, but Brady nullified that by taking him down with two minutes to go and riding out an all-but-guaranteed win on the scorecards.
